chapter-4b "YOU are the one."
I was shaken, as a deep voice hollered at me, "Hey!"
I turned around smoothening all of the pointed hairs on my elbows. His ice-blue eyes cold and piercing.
"I didn't know that we went to the same school." He laughed flicking his long nose with his left index.
I composed myself again before I uttered anything remotely stupid and embarrass the crap out of myself, like the other day.
'Ditto here Bruh!' is what I intended to say, but what came out of my mouth took me by shock.
"Yeah, I mean Uh...I am the designated 'Ms. Invisible' of Pristin-Academy, prfft! No wonder, that people normally don't notice me."
I squeezed my eyes, 'wait, what was that? I usually don't do that batting eyelash stuff!"
"No. Your silver hair is totally noticeable, so you are NOT Ms. Invisible, you know what I mean?" He slowly lifted his hand and rubbed his neck, his sleeve caught tight on his muscles.
Urgh!
I couldn't take my eyes off of it and then there was that awkward silence as we stood there glaring at each other's uneasy faces.
So, I decided to break the silence first,
"yeah, I guess that's true. Anyways see you around." I shrugged and left the place. But as soon as I turned around, my face blushed and eyes squinted. My heart and butterflies in my belly fluttering, all at once. I felt like hiding in a distant cave and never to return back, till I die.

Doing dishes took longer time than it was supposed to. After sprinkling the water off of my hands, I dried them with a towel peeking into Barb's room. She was sound asleep, her plump rosy lips were smiling. Maybe she was dreaming of another Barbie wonderland, or about her friend Sam, perhaps. I Chuckled at the thought of it. So many nostalgic memories of childhood silly games, of me and Nick came rushing.
I shook my head and decided that I won't think of it anymore. But, I knew deep down, that deciding was an easy thing, but following the same was rock-hard difficult. Sigh!
Kiara was drunk-asleep. I heard her mumbling something to herself. I shrugged and climbed up the steps which led to my bedroom.
It was small and was in the attic and it was cold at night and hot during summer, but it always gave me a roof and warmth of safety. I couldn't of been more happy about that. I slid into my comforter and inhaled a long breath, and turned the bed-lamp off.
My aching body relaxed, my eyes fell drooping. The darkness consumed me clouding my senses. A drop of drool, slowly dropped down the corner of my half opened mouth. It's actually funny, that I could feel all this while I was asleep.
More the darkness grew, more I soared up into the void, until I jerked my foot, as I felt that I was falling down rapidly from a height; screaming aloud, throwing my hands aimlessly to get a grip of unknown something.
Help! Help!
I gasped as somebody caught me by my waist, someone green, something glowing, in the pitch darkness.
I sprung upright gasping for more air, I was a sweaty mess, strings of hair were all matted on my face, I was certain that I looked like a troll from classic ghost movies. I wiped off the sweat on my upper lip and tucked all of my hair behind. But corner of my eyes caught something fazing near the open window.
The green light, Neon blaze!
A shock of cold-creeps slapped me wide awake. I undid my covers and jumped on the floor and picked up the umbrella that was lying on the table and held it in a defensive position.
"Don't you. Dare. Come. Any. Near me!"
He was floating in the mid air, his bulky arms were folded against his strong chest, his faux-hawk hair was glowing neon green. He gracefully manoeuvred his body to bend through the window and floated inside the room and stood barely a few feets away from me.
I pressed the button on the handle of the umbrella. It flung open in a trice shielding me from him...sort of, I guess.
"I know karate, I am a B..b..black belt! I will kill you. If you..if you come any closer," I stuttered threatening him. Yes, I lied. But that didn't matter at that very moment, the thing that mattered the most, was my freaking life.
"B..b..black belt, Really huh?" He imitated my stutter, grinning the shit out of his teeth, as he rasped his index onto his chin.
It oddly looked familiar and young, due to spurting young-beards and then I shook my knuckle-head.
'Focus. Lee!'
"What do you even want from me?" I squeezed my face throwing away the umbrella. If he was to kill me, he would have by then.
"Why are you stalking me?"
"I am. Not. Stalking you. For your kind information." He chuckled, showing his palm in an apparent disagreement.
"This. All this, what do you think I should call it?" I rotated my index to the ground and crossed my arms, expecting some explanation. But, there was a very long and awkward pause as we glared into each other's faces, although, I was not sure whether he glared at me or ogled me or just looked at me, since his dark shaded mask didn't let me see through.
He broke the awkwardness by clearing his throat, "Err...I uh".
He flicked his index finger under his shapely nose and continued,
"I just came to see, whether you were alright".
"Really?"
I rolled my eyes, "do you expect me to believe that?".
I looked out into the window squeezing my lips tight, as I controlled my nerve at his lies.
"YOU are a murderer! YOU are the one who blew up the Nova-Gen, three years back, remember? You killed my parents, Nick's father and...and many more. What makes you think that I would believe you?" My voice trembled as my eyes fought back the building tears.
He stood in a dead silence looking at my cold feet and then he slowly raised his face. His mouth opened in an 'O' and then in an 'A' and then shut back into a thin slit. He was trying to convey something, but was unable to find appropriate words to say it, or so I assumed. Finally, his crossed arms loosened to fall down and he left a long sigh.
"People have misinterpreted the whole incident Lee, there's more to it." He added letting his shoulders fall in dismay. His voice was robotic, yet emotional.
I raised my eyebrows and shifted my weight to another foot while my arms were still tightly sticking to my chest.
"I don't know how to explain it, when I went there, the tower was already blown and it was a blazing fire. I flew inside to save people, but." He paused looking away, "But I couldn't".
"You are a 'Super' right? a meta-human, super power and all that blah blah blah! What stopped you from saving them anyway?" I shook my head turning back towards my bed. At least, he wasn't going to kill me, not that very day. I plonked into my bed and almost pulled the covers over myself, totally ignoring his presence. He swooshed towards me within a blink, as if he had inherited a windfall of energy.
I gasped and jerked upright, I clenched my blanket and pulled it over covering my chest. He approached and sat at the foot board of my bed.
'It's getting real creepy! Better call the cops now.' The inner 'Lee' warned me.
"Not everything you see is real, okay?" He said, straightening the rumpled blanket to cover my cold feet in an attempt to not face my eyes as if he was holding something in.
"Just...Just be careful, okay? At school, at work, at home. Take care of Barb too, the worse is yet to come."
'That line. I knew it!'
Not only did he paste that sticky-note on my door, now he knew about my new job, my school and Barb too. My mind swirled in confusion, he knew every freaking thing about me, about us. I took a long breath to brace myself for the outcome of it. Not only me, my whole family was in danger, if at all what he said was any real; I, us, we were all doomed!
'But, didn't all the people at my school know about my aunt and Barb as well?'
My chain of reasoning/ idiotic thoughts were interrupted by his deep robotic voice again,
"Well, see you around then!".
He swooshed away into the window and to the sky leaving a fading neon trail along his pathway.
I slumped my head back into the soft pillow and let out a brisk breath. My eyes were wide open in shock but my vision swayed worrisome. I didn't want to get sucked into his dark world. How much ever hard my life was, I was used to being me, 'Silver head' , 'Tomboy', 'Granny momma'. Whatever it was, it was better than being called 'Neon's girl'. I mean, nobody would of wanted to be even remotely attached to that psychopath's name, let alone being his girlfriend.
'Wait. Hold up. Is he into me, or somethin' ?'
My imaginary hand swatted my cheek. That was not technically possible and I nervously chuckled.
'Or is it so?'
I chucked the thought off of my mind, in a hope that I was presumptuous or at least, over thinking. I toppled to the other side and squeezed my eyes shut, although getting a brink of sleep was way of out of my reach for that night.
