#5 Bad Research:

I am terrible when it comes to doing research on a story I am working on, because 1) I am so very busy with multiple stories that I really don’t get time to sit down and spend hours searching stuff on Google, and 2) I am just well…lazy :P. Yes you heard it right ^^ I am lazy, way more lazy then you guys, who probably at least spend a few minutes to hours doing research. *sighs*

It is also one of the main reasons why I stick to fantasy, rather then exploring other genres like Historical fiction (way too much research needed >-<) and Sci-fi too.

The plus point of working on fantasy stories is that you can make up your own world, characters and also invent words and fill the dictionary with your quirky vocabulary lol! And, the best part is…you don’t have to research anything! Yay to that! Lol! However, hold on, no research on Google doesn’t mean you get a free ticket to do whatever it is you want to do in your story. Nope, nada, even within the make-belief world, you need to follow certain rules, create stuff that is actually believable instead of popping surprises without any explanation.

You heard me *flicks your nose* even if you skip the research section, you still need to create those demons and characters and come up with your own explanations for them, their past and also the way they might change in the future. Therefore, that in itself is a mini-research project for your story ^^. Everything that happens in your story has a explanation to it, research or no research. Just look at it this way, research helps you find those reasons quickly, whereas in fantasies you have to use your own brain cells, to come up with a valid viewpoint. And since my brain is pea-sized I find it hard to come up with reasons and shit, but I try >-< I really do try.

So…tell me, how many of you actually take the efforts to research and dig through library just to find that right ingredient, that appealing mystery, to make your story even more exciting?
