Topaz's P.O.V.

I was surrounded as the other gems curiously looked t my gem, trying to understand what had happened.

Amethyst: Yup, that's defiantly a pearl alright.

She said as she tapped my gem.

Lapis: I didn't know a gem could do that.

Peridot: Well it's the most special aspect of a Topaz but I've never seen it before. It's quite interesting.

Steven: What happened. Tell us everything.

Topaz: It's weird. I was thinking about Pearl and then her feelings and memories flew into my mind and then the next thing I know my gem became her gem

Peridot: That explains a lot. You've created a strong bond with her without even realizing it.

Steven: Aw what, seriously, do it with me too!

Amethyst: No me.

Topaz: Um....it just happened, I don't know how but.....I guess I can try.

I didn't even know where to begin on trying to actually control my gem. It was really difficult to understand but I figured if the other gems managed then so can I. I tried concentrating as hard as I could, looking up, Steven was the first thing I saw and in an instant, his memories flashed forward in my mind just like Pearls did. One thing that stood out in both memories was this pink lady. She had Steven's gem as the more I looked at her I could feel my gem shaping itself into her gem.

Topaz: I see a pink lady.

Amethyst: Pink diamond?

Amethyst said confusingly.

Topaz: She has curly hair.

Steven: Mom?

He said breathlessly as he clutched his gem.

Topaz: She has a shield.

I said with my eyes closed. I felt something happening. Just like before, my gem began to emit a burst of light but this time it was much brighter.  I closed my eyes to shield them from the light and upon sensing the light has dulled down, I slowly opened my eyes and in my hands was a rounded, glimmering pink shield. It was very pretty. So this is what a gem weapon looks like.

I hadn't been admiring the shield for more than a few moments when I looked up to see everyone in front of me, shocked beyond belief.

Lapis: Woah.....

Upon seeing their reaction. My concentration broke and the shield disappeared into thin air.

Peridot's P.O.V.

I don't see why everyone was so fascinated with the Topaz. Sure his powers we're rare but I can do cool things too. Just look at my metal powers. I still need a little more practice but it's a cool power regardless.  Besides, he was so confused, he couldn't even fully appreciate his abilities and now he has to live in the barn with us. Gaaaaah! This is going to be a long day.

Time skip......

Since Topaz was living with us now, I thought I set a few ground rules but he was so busy learning about things in the barn that he really wasn't paying attention. He didn't yet get the concept of sleep so he stayed awake like most of us but I was sure he'd join in the practice sooner or later. I was in the barn drawing out blueprints as I conversed with Lapis. She was a very good listener. I hadn't seen Topaz for a few hours and decided to see that he hadn't poofed himself or something. Following the faint sound towards what was his makeshift "room" in the higher parts of the barn, I discovered that he was watching Earth television.

Topaz: Hey Peridot, look what Steven got working for me. It's called a TV and you can watch thing moving inside of it. I've never seen this before.

I was upset that he disorganized everything. Looking around, I knew that TV was holding up a lot of things and now everything was all over the place.

Peridot: Sigh.....

I say before turning to leave.

I was greeted by Lapis on my way back to the barn entrance.

Lapis: Peridot, is something wrong.

Peridot: No, not at all, it's fine.

I say, not wanting to upset Lapis. To distract myself from our new barn mate, I practiced my powers on a heap of metal from before, only this time my focus was severely lacking. I could barely pick anything up without straining. I was so focused on honing my skill that I didn't see Topaz observing me.

Topaz: Your stressing too much. Just let your powers flow through you and it will be easy.

Peridot: I don't need advice from a gem who can manage his own powers.

I say sourly as I continued to struggled with the metal in front me. Looking back at Topaz who was giving me a smile and a thumbs up. I let out a big breath of air before closing my eyes to focus. I relaxed myself, almost visualizing the metal in front of me. Slowly lifting the piece of metal it levitated off the ground with ease and felt lighter than air as it soared. I didn't want to admit that Topaz's advice was helpful. Regardless he disappeared back into the barn. I found a few leverage with my metal powers and feeling satisfied with my progress, I returned to the barn as well, only to be surprised by what I found.

Topaz had my first bubbled gem in his hand and he was shaking it about roughly. He was curious about it and I didn't want him destroying that bubble. It was a precious memory to me. I ran towards him as fast as I could but my short stubby legs weren't fast enough. Topaz popped the bubble and out came the monstrous gem. It flailed it's tongue and made an unpleasant noise before running away into the distance. I stood in shock and disbelief.

Topaz: What was that? That couldn't have been a gem.

I was angry, very, very, very angry. I couldn't restrain the way I felt about him for much longer.

Peridot: You......You.....CLOD!!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! THAT WAS MY FIRST EVER GEM ON MY VERY FIRST REAL GEM MISSION THAT I BUBBLED AND YOU LOST IT!? DO YOU KNOW WHAT I HAD TO DO TO EARN THAT?! STUPID DEFECTIVE GEM!

I say before pushing him over. Realizing what I had done, I felt ashamed....guilty....and worst of all, I made Lapis mad at me.

Lapis: Peridot, it was an accident, he didn't know. You didn't have to yell at him.

She said clearly upset.

Peridot: I...I-I'm sorry....I.....

I stuttered but I merely turned away, trying to run from their sights.
