11. The Book Worm

Why hello there! Looking good cutie! ;)

So I've been thinking, it's time to talk about something fun, shall we?!

This update is going to be more of an explanation of a certain type of person that I identify as... a bookworm! As people in the Wattpad community, we shooooould understand how this person acts and feels (and maybe be one ourselves), but let's take this a step further.

Storytime:

In my elementary years

"But Mickey, you still look like you're in elementary school!"

I will throw a pencil at you!

Anyways, I wasn't really much of a reader back then. I was good at it, but I was forced to do it in school. But something changed when I turned 12. My sister had gotten me into Twilight, and I found myself eager to read. I fully opened the door to books and was greeted with a warm welcoming.  A world much better than I could've ever imagined. I had found my kind of book genre, and the rest is history!

The knowledge, smell, texture, spin, cover, and summary of each book was invited to me. It was then that I realized I love books more than humans. Who wouldn't love to dive into the pages of life, and seep in the swelling emotion words hold?

Apparently 99% of my school!

I'd walk and read, finish my school work, then instantly read, eat and read, and do my homework while reading. I'd read before and after class, before rehearsal. I was a reading machine!

I could even stop at a random page if needed, and after hours of not seeing it, go back into the book and pick up right where I left off (I can still do this. What can I say, my reading mode is like a light switch.) I was a beast back then! I read for hours and finish books left and right.

The point of all this is, that I'm a book nerd at heart. And though years have passed and life is much more complicated and draining, I always try to find time to read because it brings me joy and it's a way to escape from the real world.

There is something very powerful about books too, filled with knowledge and ideas, that brings me to talk about one book specifically. There was a book I read in my later middle school years that really resonated with me called Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It's an amazing classic tale about a dystopian future that bans any kind of book. Instead of firefighters putting out the fires, they make the fire, burning the books with it. The horror! Fun fact: The book is named Fahrenheit 451 because that's the temperature it needs to be for the books to burn completely!

In one of the scenes in the book the main character Montag has to burn an old lady's house that's full of so many books. He tells the lady to leave her house, so they can finish the job, but she refuses to leave. The old lady ends up dying in her house with all the books by her side.

First off, That's super deep if you think about it, wanting to die beside the knowledge of books.

Second, That's totally me!

A person who loves books doesn't necessarily mean they like work, or torture themselves. There are so many genres to choose from, so who says the person is reading a biology textbook or has their nose stuck in some math equation worksheet?

Not me, EW!

That is what you call a nerd and only a nerd. Books worms can be for any genre of reading; Adventure, romance, action, fantasy-

"Gore and bloody war with death on every page and guts splattering!"

Uhh yeah, sure... *Quickly grabs Holy Bible*

Making fun of someone who likes to read is like making fun of someone who likes to run, dance, or play sports. All those kinds of activities can be torture to some people!

You'd rather do squats? Cool! I'd much rather read about someone doing squats. :P

Be respectful of what others like, and maybe try a book out one day (not only on Wattpad) Once you find what book genres you're into, the possibilities are endless, and your range of reading will grow. Not to mention that reading helps your writing skills too. ;)

Books are so much fun, and as an active bookworm, I understand what true beauty books hold. Take a chance on books, and I promise you, you won't be disappointed!

Got a nice idea? I'd like to know in the comments so I can talk about it, and dedicate that chapter to you! Always open to comments!

Alrighty, Book worm Mickey is outta here!

*Drops mic*
