Part 67 - Reunion

Priya was getting impatient with the passing time.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang again and this time she looked into the peep hole before opening the door. She was relieved to see him.

Seeing him standing outside, she quickly opened the door and scolded him, "What's wrong with you, Ram?"

Her words stuck in her throat when she saw who's standing at the doorstep.

Tears started to trickle down her cheeks freely, she felt overwhelmed with a lot of emotions running inside her as soon as she spotted her parents in front of her. She broke down completely seeing her parents after ages.

"Papa! Maa!" Priya's voice choked and words failed to come out of her mouth seeing her parents after years.

A fresh pool of tears streamed down her cheeks and she started sobbing badly. Her father and mother also broke into tears seeing her daughter in front of their eyes.

"Priyaaa! Please don't cry, beta." Her father took a couple of steps forward and hugged her dearly.

Priya wept badly in her father's embrace.

Shipra patted her back, asking her to calm down. Priya then hugged her mother. "Maa!"

Priya and her parents cried their hearts out.

Ram stood there watching the emotional scene in front of him. His eyes too become moist seeing them.

"Let's go inside first." Ram said.

Priya nodded before asking them to come inside.

"Nanu...Nani." Peehu came running towards Sudhir and Shipra. Peehu approached them excitedly.

Priya wiped off her tears and looked confused at Peehu and then at Ram.

Sudhir bent slightly and picked Peehu in his arms with a smiling face.

"Hello, Peehu. How are you?" Sudhir greeted Peehu.

"Hi Nanu, I am very happy. How are you?" Peehu asked.

Peehu looked at her grandparents and her mother who seemed to be crying.

"Nanu, I am excited to see you both here. How come you are here?" Peehu asked.

"I came to meet my daughter." Sudhir said, looking at Priya.

"Mumma, Nanu, Nani, why are you all crying?" Peehu made a sad face.

They all looked at each other.

"We are not crying, Peehu. These are just happy tears that we could meet your mother after a long time." Shipra said, caressing Peehu's cheeks lovingly.

Sudhir and Shipra nodded their heads in affirmation.

"Nanu, where are my chocolates?" Peehu asked, forwarding her tiny palm towards her grandfather.

"Oh, no! I forgot this time." Sudhir replied.

Peehu made a slightly sad face.

"I am sorry, Peehu. I will definitely get your favorite chocolates tomorrow." Sudhir said.

Peehu agreed and asked, "Nanu, Nani, did you meet my little brother and sister?"

"Not yet." Shipra replied.

"Wait, I will go and call them." Peehu said and Sudhir dropped her on her feet.

Peehu quickly ran into the kids' room where they were playing. Priya was not sure about Peehu being comfortable with her parents.

They all are seated on the sofa.

"Papa, how come Peehu knows you both?" Priya asked in confusion.

Sudhir looked at Ram and then at Priya. "We can talk about it later."

Peehu took her siblings out of the room. Aryan and Amaira were looking blankly at the unfamiliar faces and then at their parents.

Priya felt a little overwhelmed with everything happening around her.

"Come here both of you." Ram said, signalling Aryan & Amaira to come forward.

Sudhir and Shipra adored twins while they were taking baby steps towards them.

"Aryan, Amaira, this is our Nanu and this is our Nani." Peehu told the twins.

"Nanu, Nani, this is my little brother, Aryan and that is my little sister, Amaira." Peehu introduced her siblings to her grandparents.

Kids were staring at the new faces, cluelessly.

Kneeling down to the kids' level, Ram held the twins' hands and said, "Aryan & Amaira, they are your mothers' parents, Nanu and Nani." Ram made them understand.

Priya's eyes were still moistened. She was trying to get hold of her tears. Aryan & Amaira turned their heads towards their mother and she nodded in confirmation.

"Really?" Amaira and Aryan were amused looking at them.

Sudhir and Shipra nodded their heads and hugged the kids.

They all had emotional moments for quite some time.

Moments later, Ram said, "You people talk, I will take the kids to the room." He took the kids with him to give some space for Priya and her parents to speak their hearts out as they were meeting after a very long time.

"Papa, where did you go all this time?" Aryan asked while Ram was taking them to their room.

"Haa Papa, we missed you a lot." Amaira said, holding his hand.

Ram smiled at them broadly and said, "I am sorry, guys. I had to go to meet your grandparents to bring them here."

"Thank you, Papa. I am so happy to meet Nanu and Nani." Peehu responded, cheerfully.

"Mee too." Aryan & Amaira smiled at him.

Priya and her parents were listening to the kids' conversation till they went inside the room.

"Lovely kids!" Sudhir exclaimed.

"Indeed." Shipra added.

Priya smiled at them and asked, "I will get something for you."

"No, come and sit here." Sudhir asked her to sit next to him.

"Papa, how do you know Peehu?" Priya asked her parents.

"You broke all ties with us and you didn't even care to call us when you decided to leave Ram and Peehu." Shipra couldn't hold back herself from asking.

"How could I show my face to you guys? I thought you won't accept me. You people disowned me when you got to know that I am pregnant then how can I come back knowing that I am pregnant again. Initially, that was due to surrogacy but later it was a different scenario. I didn't want to abort my child to just get entry in the house. I didn't want any trouble in your life and I couldn't risk my siblings' future with my presence." Priya started sobbing.

Sudhir squeezed Priya's hand lightly. Shipra too couldn't see her daughter crying.

"I am sorry!" Priya said in between her sobs.

Sudhir looked at Priya and said, "Few days after you left the house, Ram came to our house, carrying Peehu. He apologized for his actions and explained everything to us. He was feeling guilty that he couldn't bring you to us but promised that he won't distance Peehu from us. Initially, we were very angry with both of you. We said so many things to him, we called him names but he didn't take our anger and hatred to his heart. He was also not pleased with your sudden disappearance but he wanted to make sure Peehu has all her relationships from her mother's side too. As the time passed, we didn't know when he became a part of our family. He made sure that Peehu was present in all family functions. He stood for us whenever we were in trouble. He took care of all of us like you used to."

Priya was stunned to hear this.

"We are also very sorry for being so hard on you, Priya." Shipra cried.

Sudhir caressed Priya's hair. "Sorry, beta."

It was dinner time; Priya and her parents were talking about a few random things. Shipra and Priya prepared the dinner together after a long gap. Sudhir was playing with his grandchildren.

Priya was a way beyond happy after reunion with her parents.

"Priya, go and call Ram for Dinner. Looks like he's still working in the room." Shipra said.

Priya nodded and entered the room where Ram was busy in his laptop.

Priya cleared her throat, grabbing his attention.

Ram looked up from his laptop and smiled at Priya before getting up on his feet.

"I just came to tell you that ... dinner is ready. Please come quickly." Priya said while her mind and heart were debating on thanking Ram or not.

"Okay." Ram replied.

He noticed how Priya was fidgeting her fingers while thinking about something. Ram walked closer to her and stood face-to-face to her.

"Anything else?" Ram asked, raising his brow lightly.

Priya looked into his eyes and for a moment their eyes were locked at each other.

"Thank you!" Priya finally said.

Ram smiled gently at her and asked, "For what?"

"I didn't expect that you would do anything like this. I am very happy to meet my parents and thank you for taking care of them." Priya was genuinely touched by this.

"That's my responsibility and they are a part of my family after all." Ram said.

Priya smiled at him and turned to leave.

Ram held her wrist and turned her towards him.

Priya looked at him, questioning his action through her eyes.

"Does that mean...you have forgiven me?" Ram asked, curiously.

Priya knitted her brows before asking, "As far as I remember, this is the unfinished business you were talking about and you have decided to leave the house, me and kids after that, right?"

Priya mocked while throwing his own words back at him.

Ram blushed slightly, recollecting his talk when he was completely upset with Priya.

Ram looked at her and they shared a brief look at each other.

"Answer my question!" Ram asked.

"No, not at all. Just because I said thank you, it doesn't mean I have forgiven you." Priya replied.

"In that case, I am not leaving the house without taking you guys along with me." Ram was determined.

"You were so adamant and very much angry. I thought you won't come back looking at the way you left the house." Priya mocked him.

"Tell me one thing first, why did you look so relieved when I came back?" Ram asked.

She gasped and searched for a nice excuse for her restlessness when he was away from the home and her relief seeing him back. She couldn't utter anything.

He took her by surprise, holding her by the waist and pulling her towards him. There was a mere gap between them.

Priya placed her hands on his arms when he snaked his arms around her.

"Leave me, please! Someone will see us like this." Priya uttered in almost like a whispering tone.

"First tell me." Ram insisted on her.

"Ram, please." Priya lowered her gaze and stole glances from him.

Ram's hand reached to her chin and raised a bit, making an eye-contact with her.

"You know what matters the most to me than my aggression and ego? That's you, our love and our kids. I just don't want to give up on us, come what may! All I want is to spend the rest of my life with you, kids and our family." He said in a deep voice.

His eyes were displaying his genuine feelings.

Priya was just lost in those hypnotic eyes. They stood there for a moment before they were disturbed by the noise from their mischievous kids from the living room.

Priya took a step back, realizing the proximity between them.

Tugging the strands of hair, Priya said, "Come for dinner." Soon Priya walked out of the room as quickly as possible.

Priya sighed in relief as soon as she was out of his proximity.

"I know you are holding back yourself. I will make sure that you come to me and forgive me wholeheartedly." Ram said to himself, confidently.

Ram was very happy with the recent progress between them.
