im here to explain the difference between perfectionism and ocd, aka obsessive-compulsive disorder.

this book is called 'perfectionist' for a reason. if gguk had ocd, then tht would probably trigger a lot of ppl and this book wouldve never existed lmao.

first of all !

ocd is very much different from being a perfectionist. for one, a person who suffers from ocd, which is an anxiety disorder, doesnt necessarily want everything labeled as 'perfect as possible.' ocd is more focused on ritual and repetition rather than perfection.

a perfectionist is simply what it states. they want everything as perfect as possible, and in jeongguk's case, he is a perfectionist. thts why he wants everything, well, perfect. lol

ocd is more like a needed daily routine/ritual, like i said before. a person who suffers from ocd is unable, or nearly unable, to carry out a specific physical or mental activity without going through a ritual, most likely more than once. the anxiety that comes with this is pretty much unbearable to deal with, and, as expected, the person wants to reduce that anxiety. that being said, that person will go to great lengths to clear, or mostly reduce, that anxiety.

for example, a person with ocd who is listening to song will typically play that song over and over again, enjoying it every time. they will only play that one song, and this will go on for days, perhaps even weeks. another example would be someone calling a person who has ocd on a daily basis in a daily timeslot. if this daily activity is broken, a lot of terrifying thoughts will swarm tht person's mind. they'll think they did something wrong, or if they did something to anger the other person. perfectionists would probably have never done these things.
