CHAPTER THIRTEEN, the turnaround dance

The Turnaround Dance.

Gwen didn't like the Turnaround Dance simply because of the pressure that was on her. She didn't even like dances, but this one she felt like she had to go to it since the girls were supposed to ask the guys. And Gwen has a problem, she likes two guys and she doesn't know which one she wants to ask out to the dance. Although she had a feeling she would be asking Kamden out since normally Shawn always has a date to these kind of things.

"So, you asking someone to the Turnaround Dance?" Topanga asked her girl best friend.

"I dunno." Gwen admits, glancing at the blonde-haired girl by her. "I want to, but I'm not for sure who I would ask. So instead of talking about my boy problems, let's talk about," Gwen smiles teasingly at Topanga, playfully elbowing her. "Who you are going to ask to the dance."

Topanga rolls her eyes and chuckles. "Well, I mean, I would ask Cory, but it's a protest. The concept of a Turnaround Dance implies that all the other times that only the boys can do the asking. That's destructive gender-biased thinking and we have to get beyond that."

Gwen looks at her with an awestruck expression. "You're literally so amazing." She was always amazed with how straightforward and outspoken Topanga was. This year she had gotten more close with Topanga to the point where she could now call Topanga her girl best friend. She was really glad she had a girl best friend now so she had someone she could do girl stuff with like go shopping, paint nails, and of course, talk about boys.

"I know." Topanga grins, flipping her hair over her shoulder. She laughs along with Gwen. Their laughter dies down and she shrugs. "And besides, that weekend my daddy's taking me to New York for Christmas shopping."

Topanga smiles teasingly at Gwen, playfully elbowing her. "And now back to your boy problems, are you going to ask Kamden or Shawn?" She points at Gwen. "Don't avoid my question this time."

Gwen sighs, holding onto the straps of her backpack as she glances at the floor. "I honestly don't know. I'll probably ask Kamden 'cause knowing Shawn he'll most likely have a date already."

Topanga sympathetically smiles at her. "But hey, that shouldn't be a problem because you like Kamden, right?"

Gwen nods and smiles dreamingly. "Yeah, I do. A lot." She sighs and runs a hand through her brunette-colored hair. "But you know, I also like Shawn," A dreamy smile made its way back to her lips upon thinking of the dark-haired boy. "A lot."

"Well, maybe if you went with Kamden to the dance that could help you figure out if you really like him." Topanga suggested.

"Yeah, that's a good idea." Gwen agreed.

"And speaking of Kamden," Topanga nudges Gwen to get her attention, pointing at the end of the hallway. Gwen looks at the end of the hallway, seeing a familiar blonde walking around the corner and down the hallway. "There he is. You should go ask him now."

Gwen turns to face Topanga with wide eyes. "N-Now?" Topanga nods and smiles at her. "Oh, no, no, no." Gwen denies, quickly shakes her head. "I-I can't go ask him now."

Topanga puts her hands on her hips, raising her eyebrows at Gwen. "And why not?"

"Um, because you see, I..." Gwen's voice trails off, trying to think of a lie to say as she brings her gaze to the floor. "I got class..." She looks back at Topanga with a nervous smile. "Yeah, class. I gotta get to class. Now. So bye!" She awkwardly waved and quickly turned around to leave. Before she could leave, Topanga grabbed the back of Gwen's backpack to pull her back, causing her to groan.

"Not so fast." Topanga chuckles, letting go of Gwen's backpack when the brunette-haired girl turned to face her. "G, don't worry." Topanga assures Gwen, pointing at the brunette-haired girl as Gwen shakes her head. "Don't shake your head at me. It will be fine. All you need is a little push." She put her hands on Gwen's shoulders, turning her around in Kamden's direction and pushed her forward. Kamden happened to be walking down the hallway where Topanga pushed Gwen which caused the brunette-haired girl to bump into him.

"I'm so sorry." Gwen quickly apologizes, her face turning pink out of embarrassment. She glances back at Topanga with a small glare. "I wasn't watching where I was going." Topanga just smiled and waved at her.

"It's okay." Kamden chuckles lightly. "Part of it was my fault for not watching where I was going so I'm sorry about that." He apologized, smiling apologetically at Gwen as he ran his hand through his blonde hair.

Gwen feels her stomach do flips when he messed with his hair. Not only did Shawn have that that affect with her when he ran his hand through his hair, but so did Kamden. Gwen smiles shyly and shakes her head. "You're fine. So, uh, t-there is actually something I wanted to ask you. I was wondering..." She nervously brings gaze to the floor, too nervous to lock eyes with Kamden, who smiles at her and patiently waits for her to continue which only made her heartbeat speed up and butterflies swarm in her stomach. "Would you maybe wanna be my date to the Turnaround Dance?"

Kamden smiles brightly at her, immediately blurting out the answer, "Yes!" Gwen glances at him with surprise, her lips forming into a wide smile. "I-I mean," Kamden stutters, his face turning a pink color out of not only embarrassment but also because he was shy. "Yeah, sure," He shrugs, trying to play it cool. He has trouble deciding what to do with his hands and just decides to cross his arms. "I'd love to be your date to the Turnaround Dance."

Gwen sighs with relief, feeling her face heat up more and she couldn't stop smiling. "Okay, great. Um, I'll pick you up at eight."

Kamden smiles softly, his face turning a darker shade of pink. "Awesome." After a few seconds of the two teens smiling at each other, he clears his throat and points down the hallway, an awkward smile forming on his lips. "And now it's time for me to make an awkward exit."

Gwen giggles a bit and nods. She steps to the side as he walks down the hallway. She walks back over to Topanga, who was smiling at her with a teasing smile. "So..." Topanga drags out the word for emphasis as Gwen stands by her. "What'd he say?"

Gwen couldn't stop the grin tugging on her lips. "He said yes."

Topanga smirks, flipping her blonde hair over her shoulder. "You're welcome."

Gwen rolls her eyes and chuckles lightly. "Yeah, okay, thank you for that push."

Topanga smiles at her. "Anytime."

The next day in homeroom, Jonathan is sitting on the edge of his desk, holding up a book. "Shaw's play 'Pygmalion' is filled with strong opinions about class prejudice. You guys agree or disagree?" Everyone stares at him with blank expressions and they were all quiet. He shakes his head, rolling his eyes, and sarcastically comments, "Wow. I didn't know they were taking the class picture today."

"Come on," Jonathan encourages. "How you speak, how you walk affects how you're going to do in life. You guys agree believe that?"

Everyone gave out responses this time, but they all shrug and respond with, "I don't know."

"Oh, come on." Jonathan rolls his eyes and stands up. "What if, day one," He walks to the door and stands out in the hallway in front of the door. "I walked into this classroom," He walks inside, talking in a Jersey accent. "Hey, how are you doin'? My name's Mr. Turner." He fixes his tie, walking back to his desk. "I'm gonna be learnin' youse guys some good English, okay?"

Jonathan faces everyone, speaking normally. "What would you think?"

Shawn shrugs and smirks. "I'd have a shot at an 'A'."

Gwen rolls her eyes at him and glances at her uncle. "I would say who are you and what have you done with my uncle."

Jonathan chuckles lightly and rolls his eyes. He looks at his class. "How you speak, how you look affects people's perceptions of who you are." The bell rings seconds later and everyone grabs their stuff and leaves as Jonathan calls out, "Read Pygmalion, people! Don't make me do this again tomorrow."

"Cory," Shawn gets Cory's attention before the curly-haired boy left. "You're going to love me. I just figured out how to make your date with Ingrid work."

"This should be interesting." Gwen muttered, grabbing her backpack from the floor as she stood up from her seat.

"It's okay." Cory assures Shawn. "I've accepted my average fate."

Gwen puts her backpack on, holding onto the straps of it while she follows her two best friends. "Look," Shawn said to Cory, stopping the curly-haired boy outside of the classroom and Gwen stand by them. "You'd be happy to go to the dance with her if she was cool."

"Yeah," Cory nods. "But she's not cool."

Shawn smirks. "So we make her cool."

Cory looks interested in Shawn's idea. "Is that possible?"

"Calling it now this will backfire in your faces." Gwen remarked, rolling her eyes.

Shawn rolls his eyes playfully and puts his hand on her shoulder, gently pushing her to the side. "Don't listen to Neve, Cory." Gwen chuckles lightly and crosses her arms. "It's in the Pyg Play." Shawn continues, showing the book to Cory. "You know, we change her clothes, her hair, her whole look."

"Shawn. We're guys." Cory points out. "What do we know about girls' clothes?"

Shawn throws his arm around Gwen's shoulders, pulling her into his side. "Cor, that's where our best friend here comes in handy."

Gwen chuckles, glancing at the two boys with raised eyebrows. "Why do you think I'll help you guys completely change how a girl looks?" She shakes her head, looking at the two boys with disappointment. "And that's just rude to Ingrid. You shouldn't change a person just because you don't like how they look."

Shawn and Cory look at her with puppy dog eyes. "You'll help us 'cause you love us." Shawn said.

Gwen sighs heavily, her shoulders dropping in defeat. She knew that the boys knew she could never say no to those puppy dog eyes. "Yeah, but that doesn't make you any less annoying." She lets out an annoyed huff as the boys continue to stare at her with puppy dog eyes. "Okay, I'll help you. Put those puppy dog eyes away."

Shawn grins at her, squeezing her shoulder. "Great! Thanks, Neve."

Cory smiles at Gwen. "Yeah, G. You're the best."

"Yeah, whatever." Gwen rolled her eyes despite the small smile tugging on her lips.

"You know, Ingrid, you don't have to go along with this." Gwen said to the red-haired girl, trying to reason with her. She was currently at the Matthews' house upstairs with Ingrid, giving her a makeover. "The boys are just being stupid boys."

"It's okay." Ingrid assures her, smiling at Gwen through the mirror as the brunette-haired girl curling Ingrid's hair. "I wanna do this. Maybe this will help me be more confident."

"Okay, but just letting you know you shouldn't change yourself just because a boy doesn't like you the way you are." Gwen told her.

"Thank you, Gwen." Ingrid smiles softly. "That means a lot to me."

Morgan had come up a few minutes later to give them pictures of what they boys wanted and Gwen didn't follow it at all because she thought the boys were being stupid about this. Instead she asked Ingrid what she wanted to look like. A few minutes later and Gwen was done giving Ingrid a complete makeover. Gwen knew all about makeup, dresses and stuff like that, but she just didn't wear a lot girly clothes. Some days she did when she felt like dressing up, but that was rare.

"Okay, Morgs," Gwen glances at the blonde-haired girl with a small smile. "You can go tell the boys we're done and we'll be coming down."

"Sure thing, G." Morgan smiled at her and walked out of the bathroom.

Gwen glances at Ingrid with a small smile. "You ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." Ingrid responded with a nervous smile and the two girls walked out to the hallway and to the stairs.

"Here she comes!" Morgan called out as she got to the kitchen and Cory and Shawn got out of their seats to stand by the stairs.

Gwen walks down the stairs first and Shawn stares at her with an awestruck look. "Wow, she looks just like Gwen."

Gwen laughs lightly, flicking his forehead, causing the boy to wince and rub his forehead. "I am Gwen, you dimwit." Shawn sheepishly smiled in response.

Gwen walks over to stand by Morgan, dramatically speaking, "Ladies and gentlemen," She gestures to the stairs and Morgan did the same. "The new and improved Ingrid Iverson!"

Ingrid walks down the stairs, showing that she wore a green dress that stops above her knees, black heels, and her hair that was normally up was curled beautifully. Cory's eyes widen. "Wow."

Ingrid looks at Cory with a hopeful expression. "Is it okay?"

"Yeah." Cory nodded, smiling at Ingrid.

"No." Shawn shook his head.

Gwen looks at him with wide eyes, putting one hand on her hip as she and Morgan ask in disbelief, "What?"

Shawn shrugs. "I'm telling you we missed." He shakes his head, walking over to the table that was covered in fashion magazines. "It doesn't work at all."

"You don't work." Gwen comments, rolling her eyes. She crosses her arms. "I think I did a great job at giving her a makeover."

"Wait, you gave her a makeover?" Mrs. Matthews ask, looking at Gwen with surprise. "Wow, you did really good. Maybe you should think about being a stylist one day." Gwen raised her eyebrows, tilting her head to the side. She smiled as she thought about doing that. That didn't sound like a bad idea. She did enjoy giving Ingrid a makeover and she was pretty good at it.

Ingrid furrows her eyebrows, pointing at Gwen. "Gwen said I look pretty."

"Yeah," Cory smiles at her. "You do." He walks over to Shawn with a confused expression. "Shawn, what's with you? She's gorgeous."

"Fine. She's gorgeous." Shawn agrees. "What does that give you?

Cory shrugs. "Pretty much everything?"

"Cory, we're going for cool here. Cool is more than looks. It's an attitude. It's a feel." He picks up a magazine and the others gather behind him. And by this point Morgan and her mom had left the kitchen so it was just the boys and Gwen and Ingrid. "There's something mysterious about her. She looks like her name would be Amaretto or Frangelica or Kahlua."

Gwen looks at him weirdly. "Okay, first of all, I'm pretty sure those aren't even names. And second of all," She points at Ingrid, sharing a smile with the red-haired girl. "What's the problem with Ingrid? She looks amazing."

"I agree with Gwen." Cory said, glancing at Shawn. "But are you meaning we need to give Ingrid a foreign name?"

Ingrid chuckles. "It is foreign." She replies, causing the boys to look at her with surprise. "It's Swedish."

Shawn sets the magazine on the table, looking at Ingrid with wide eyes and a smile. "Wait a minute. You mean, like, Swedish from Switzerland?"

"Like, from Sweden, where my mom's family lives." Ingrid corrected.

An excited expression forms on Shawn's face. "You have family in Switzerland?"

"She said Sweden." Gwen looks at Shawn with annoyance. "Not Switzerland."

Shawn waves a dismissive hand at her. "Yeah."

"Yeah. We go there every summer." Ingrid admits. "My Aunt Uma has a house on the beach."

"Uma, Uma, Uma." Shawn grins, turning to face Cory. "Oh, Cory, this is too good."

"Come on, Shawn. What do you mean?" Cory questioned.

Shawn faces Ingrid as a smile began to form on his lips. "Ingrid, confirm or deny. In-In...Sweden, at the beach, women...Naked?"

"Yeah. Sure." Ingrid shrugs. "It's no big deal."

Shawn smiles from ear to ear. "Wrong. It's a very big deal."

"Yeah, for the Swedish guys." Cory points at himself. "What does it get us?"

"Cory, by this time tomorrow, I can make Ingrid cool at John Adams High and you cool by association. But in order to do that," Shawn puts his hands on Cory's and Ingrid's shoulders. "You must boldly go where no seventh graders have ever gone before. Are you with me?"

Ingrid nods. "Yes." She looks at Shawn with a pleading expression. "Please."

Cory shakes his head, waving his arms in a 'no' gesture. "No, no. His plans never work."

Gwen points at him in a sign of agreement. "He's not wrong. Shawn's plans suck."

"Like Gwen said to us earlier, it'll blow up in our faces." Cory continued.

Gwen smiles at him. "Awe, you listened to me."

Ingrid grabs the front of his shirt, pulling him to her and shakes him. She yells, "I want to be popular!"

Cory stares at her wide eyes. "Okay," Ingrid lets go of his shirt and Shawn takes his hand off her shoulder and Cory's shoulder. "We'll go with the Swede."

The next day at school, Gwen is at her locker with Kamden, conversing with the blonde-haired boy. She had been hanging out with Kamden that day more than Cory and Shawn. Sometimes she just needed a break from them and she liked hanging out with Kamden a lot. Plus she had finally told the boys that she asked Kamen to the dance and Shawn seemed a bit upset about it so she figured it was best to give him some time to get over it.

Kamden was getting the books she needed while Kamden lean against the locker beside her locker. "What's going on over there?" Kamden asked, pointing at the small crowd of students surrounding Shawn and Becky.

Gwen glances at the group, rolling her eyes. "Okay, so Shawn and Cory had this plan to make Cory's date be cool." She zips up her backpack and closes the locker once she was done getting the books she needed. "Don't believe it 'cause it's not true."

Kamden chuckles lightly. "That's good to know."

At lunch the next day Gwen and Shawn are planning on sitting next to each other and Cory is sitting with Ingrid and her new friends.

Mr. Feeny walks over to the two preteens, pointing at Ingrid. "Mr. Hunter, Miss Calloway. The girl in the white turtleneck, is that Ingrid Iverson?"

Shawn smiles. "That's her."

"What on Earth has she done for herself?" Mr. Feeny asked.

"Oh, she didn't do it, Cory, Gwen, and me did it." Shawn replies. "Technically it was all Gwen giving her the makeover."

Gwen sits down at the table, rolling her eyes. "Only 'cause you and Cory told me to."

"Cory, Gwen, and I, Mr. Hunter." Mr. Feeny corrected.

Shawn scoffs. "Oh, yeah. Sure. Now everybody wants to take credit." Mr. Feeny walked away and the two sat in comfortable silence as they ate lunch.

"So, are you really going to the dance with Kamden?" Shawn asked after a moment of silence.

"Yeah, why?" Gwen glanced at him with raised eyebrows.

Shawn shrugs. "No reason. Just curious." He was kind of hoping she wasn't going with Kamden. He would be fine if it was anyone but Kamden since he knew Kamden liked her too. He suddenly gets shy which confused Gwen as he smiles shyly at her. "Well, will you, uh, will you at least save the last dance for me?"

Gwen's face turns a bright pink color and she couldn't help the smile tugging on her lips. "Of course, Shawnie." Shawn smiled brightly at her.

They both go back to eating their lunch with comfortable silence again. A few moments later, Becky had walked over to them, informing them that Ingrid broke up with Cory. Gwen thanked Becky for informing them the details and after sharing a look with Shawn, the two best friends walked over to the table Cory sat at by himself.

"Sorry, man." Shawn apologizes, sitting on the corner of the table he and Gwen sat at, facing the curly-haired boy. He gestures to himself and Gwen. "We just heard."

Cory looks at his best friends with surprise. "How? It just happened."

"Yeah, well," Shawn points at Gwen, who sits beside him on the edge of the table. "Neve is tapped into the girls' network which makes me tapped into the girls' network by association."

Cory sighs. "Guys, I got to face facts. I'm average, and average guys don't get asked to dances. It just doesn't happen."

"Cory," A blonde-haired girl named Allison walks over to Cory. "Would you take me to the dance?"

Cory, Gwen, and Shawn look at the girl with surprise. Cory glances at his two best friends. "Do you see her, too?"

Gwen nods in response while Shawn replies with, "Yeah, man, I do."

"I mean, I heard what just happened with Ingrid, and I'm really sorry." Allison apologizes. "But I'm also really happy because I need someone to take me to the dance."

"Wait. Wait. Wait. You're asking me?" Cory asked in disbelief, standing up.

"Yes." Allison smiles at him. "Would you?"

"Oh, I don't want to appear to be anxious," Cory goes to sit back down, but then he kneels down, hugging onto Allison's legs. "But yes, yes, yes!"

Later that night, Gwen stood at the front door of the Friar household and she was beyond nervous, but she was excited. This was her first dance with Kamden and she had to admit she was looking forward to that last dance with Shawn. She shook her head, pushing the thoughts of Shawn out of the way. She should be focusing on Kamden now, not Shawn.

Gwen nervously presses the doorbell and she smooths out her pink colored dress as she waited for the door to open. for the dance she decided going with a over the shoulder light pink colored dress that had a sliver sequined belt around the waist. She pulled part of her hair back, letting her bangs show more, and she went with straight hair instead of curly hair. She did her makeup that matched her dress and wore dangly earrings that also matched the color of her dress. And for the shoes she wore silver flats.

Seconds later the door opens revealing Annabelle, Kamden's older sister. Annabelle smiles at Gwen. "Gwen! Hi, you look so pretty."

(this is gwen's outfit)

Gwen smiles, beginning to feel some of her nerves go because of Annabelle's calm and welcoming presence. "Hi, Annabelle. And thank you. Um, I'm here to pick up Kamden."

"Okay, he should be ready by now," Annabelle steps to the side, letting Gwen inside. "But you can come in."

"Thanks." Gwen responded, walking inside the house while Annabelle closed the door.

Annabelle smiles softly at Gwen. "I'll go get Kamden." She walks over to stand by the railing of the stairs and yells, "Kamden hurry up, Gwen is here!"

"Okay, okay!" Kamden's voice is heard and a few seconds later he's walking down the stairs, rolling his eyes at Annabelle. "Anna, you know you didn't have to yell."

Annabelle grins. "Yeah, but what's the fun in that?"

Kamden sighs heavily, shaking his head. He steps off the bottom step, looking at Gwen for the first time that night and he felt like his heart stopped. This was his first time seeing her in a dress and yes he thought she was always beautiful she looked ten times more beautiful right now. He stares at her with an awestruck look, walking over to stand in front of her. "Wow. You...You..." Annabelle reaches over to hit his shoulder, causing him to stop stumbling over his words. "You look amazing."

Gwen giggles slightly, and smiles shyly, feeling her face heat up. "Thanks." She notices that he was a bit dressier than what he normally wore, wearing a striped polo shirt with a white undershirt, light blue jeans and white shoes.

(this is kamden's outfit)

"Okay," Corrine, Annabelle's and Kamden's mom, walks into the living room from the kitchen, holding a camera. She smiles. "I want pictures before you two leave!"

"Mom," Kamden whines, his face turning a light pink color out of embarrassment as he turns to face his mom. "Is that necessary?"

"Of course it is!" Corrine nods, standing by the stairs in front of the two preteens. "I'm sure you two will wanna remember your first dance together." That comment causes the two preteens to smile at each other shyly and then look away, both of them blushing. Corrine smiles and holds up her camera, gesturing for the two preteens to stand closer by each other. "Okay, now get together and act all cute together like you already do, smile and say cheese!"

The gym was full of students dancing, talking, and just having a good time by the time Gwen's dad dropped Gwen and Kamden off at the school. Upbeat music is heard on the speakers, and since Christmas was just around the corner the gym was decorated with Christmas decorations.

Gwen and Kamden spent some time dancing and Gwen had to admit Kamden was a good dancer, she didn't expect him to be a good dancer. She had told Kamden that she had promised Shawn the last dance and she hoped he wouldn't be upset about it, but Kamden was fine with it. He knew of her feelings for Shawn and he wasn't worried about anything since he knew she liked him too.

was currently heading over to where her two best friends were at. She wanted to check in on Cory and Shawn since she hadn't seen them the whole night and Kamden had wanted to talk with some of his friends so they decided to meet up to take pictures together and dance some more.

After a while of dancing and talking Gwen and Kamden decided to go find Cory and Shawn. They took a break from dancing and decided to get some snacks and talk some more. At one point, thanks to the women's network, Gwen had heard the news about Cory and Allison and how Allison only took Cory to the dance because that's what she always did and then she went to hang out with Danny. And when Gwen and Kamden went to go back to dancing again, they both had overheard about what happened with Ingrid and Cory.

"Hi, guys." Gwen greeted her best friends, standing by the table Cory and Shawn are at with Kamden standing beside her.

"Hi, Gwen." Shawn responds, sending her a smile before he looks back at Cory. He does a double take when he saw how she was dressed for the night, glancing back at Gwen fondly. "Woah." He feels his face heat up as he stumbles over his words. "Neve, you-you look amazing."

Gwen smiles softly at him, giggling a bit as she tries to ignore the blush creeping up her neck and to her face. "Thanks, Shawnie. You look amazing too." Shawn smiles widely when she said that, ignoring the butterflies swarming in his stomach and how he could feel blush beginning to creep up his neck.

Gwen turns her attention to Cory, smiling sympathetically at him. "We just heard about you and Allison."

"And about what happened with you and Ingrid and how she basically dumped you again." Kamden chimes in, apologetically smiles at the curly-haired boy. "Sorry about that."

Cory looks at the two with raised eyebrows. "Let me guess, the women's network?"

Gwen nods. "Yep." She sits down at the table along with Kamden and glances at Shawn with furrowed eyebrows. "Hey, isn't Becky supposed to be with you?"

"Yeah," Shawn sighs, taking the empty seat between Gwen and Cory. "She has been in the girls' room for six hours like always."

"Hey, girls." Eric says to Cory and Shawn as he walks over to the table the four preteens are at. He nods at Gwen and Kamden. "Hey, Gwen and Kamden."

"Eric, not now, okay? Anytime but now." Cory pleaded.

"Why, 'cause you got dumped twice?" Eric asked him.

Shawn nods. "Three times."

Eric looks at Cory with surprise. "Wow!"

Cory rolls his eyes, pointing at his brother. "I don't see you with your date."

"Yeah, where's Jaqueline?" Shawn questioned.

"Funny thing." Eric sits at the empty seat left at the table between Cory and Kamden. "Her old boyfriend came into town. Turns out things aren't over between them." A tight-lipped smile tugs on his lips. "She hopes I'll understand."

Gwen shares a look with Kamden and they both look back at Eric. Gwen raises her eyebrows at Eric, tilting her head to the side. "Do you understand, Eric?"

"Oh, yeah." Eric replies and he nods. "Completely relaxed about this whole situation."

"Hi, want a picture to remember the dance?"

"Drop dead!" Eric shouted, glaring at the boy.

Gwen laughs, looking at Eric with amusement with the others. "Yeah, you're real relaxed, Eric." Cory remarks. He looks back at the boy with the camera who started walking away and he gestures for the boy to come back. "No, wait, wait, come back. Take a picture, a picture of the four coolest guys and the prettiest girl at the dance."

Gwen smiles softly at Cory, thinking he was sweet to say that. "Yeah," Eric rolls his eyes. "All sitting at the losers' table."

"Listen, if you smile now, in twenty years if anyone asks our dates were all in the bathroom." Cory comforted his brother.

Shawn kneels beside the right side of Cory for the picture, putting his hand on Cory's shoulder. He defends himself by saying, "Hey, mine really is."

Eric forces a laugh. "Shut up."

Gwen stands up along with Kamden to stand behind the Matthews brothers and Shawn. Gwen grins at Kamden. "Guess we're the only real cool ones 'cause we didn't get dumped." Kamden grinned back at her, high fiving the brunette-haired girl.

"Alright, everybody say cheese." Cory smiled.

"Only Kam, Shawnie, and I get to say cheese." Gwen chuckles and Kamden glances at her with a fond expression when she uses his nickname for the first time. Gwen looks at the three in front of her with amusement. "You guys gotta say dumped."

"She's right." Shawn agreed.

While Eric and Cory say 'dumped', Gwen, Kamden, and Shawn said 'cheese' as the picture was taken of the five of them.

A/N decided to add in more moments of topanga & gwen cause i feel like i havent done that much & i love their friendship ! hear
