Remember when you taught me fate

Said it'd all be worth the wait

Chapter 17

"Ready?" Jake asked from beside me.

"Huh what? Yeah yeah, I'm ready" I answered as if I was listening to whatever he said.

My eyes couldn't stop looking away from the crowd of people in the stands, but I still didn't see him.

"Dude what's up with you? You seem distracted and you keep looking at the stands" Jake noticed and slightly frowned when he looked into my eyes.

This morning I woke up next to Skylar in his bed and I freaked out even though nothing happened between us. Eventually I decided to leave without waking him up and maybe I secretly took a picture of him while he was asleep.

He looked pretty cute okay?

Wait.. What?

I shook my head fast and pushed those thoughts away.

I've constantly been searching for the boy, because I invited him yesterday to watch me play and I haven't seen him until this morning.

Do you think he's mad for leaving him alone like that? Will he even show up? Does he hate me?

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the blue eyes boy with his special platinum blonde hair, standing in between the crowd.

Wow..

The moment we made eye contact, I felt something weird going on in my stomach. He smiled warmly and waved at me, making me smirk a bit and wink at him.

"Everything's fine Jake, really fine" I looked back at my best friend with a wide grin plastered on my face as we made our way to the rest of our team.

"If you say so. Good luck guys, we will beat their asses!" He grinned in a confident way at us.

All of us stood in position until we heard the whistle which indicated that the game has officially started.

I took the ball from my competitor as fast as I could and dribbled my way towards the opposite field. I dodged all of those who were in my way and threw the ball right into the basket, making everyone cheer loudly, but I only heard one person.

"You go Cam!" I heard Skylar yell, even if it wasn't as loud as the rest, I heard his voice above all the others.

My smile widened from it and all of a sudden my confidence got a boost.

We stood in our positions again and this time the other team got the ball, yet I grabbed it from them.

I ran as fast as I could towards their basket, but before I know it, someone crashed into me, making me fall down to my side.

A sharp pain evolves in my side which made me groan loud. I tried to move a bit, but the pain was too strong. I bit my lip to distract myself from the pain and rolled onto my back.

"Don't think you're all amazing and perfect now, pretty boy. Where is that little gay friend of yours? You do that assignment with him right?" Max, who pushed me down, growled low at me.

"Oh fuck you Max!" I yelled angrily and tried to sit up.

I wanted to crush his face and make him regret calling my Skylar like that.

"Cam!" I suddenly heard Skylar scream, making me turn my head towards him to see him run towards me.

"Sky it's okay bab-" My eyes widened when I noticed what I was about to say and I stopped talking immediately.

Thankfully I stopped myself.

"Are you okay? Do you have pain? Does it hurt a lot?!" He bombarded me with questions and his worried face expression, touched me.

I was about to answer until I got interrupted.

"Oh is that you're gay lover Cam?" Max sneered at me, making the anger rise inside of me.

I don't know exactly what happened from then on, but something inside of me just snapped. There was a dark feeling in my stomach and I couldn't stop glaring at the smirking boy. I was about to reach out to Max so I could smash his ugly face until Skylar touched my shoulder in a sweet gesture.

"Hey, it's okay.. Listen to me, he is not worth it Cam.. Are you okay?" He asked sincerely worried.

I was still fuming with anger, but when Skylar softly touched my hand in that moment, I forgot about the whole reality we were in right now.

I only saw his angelic face as everything else in the background faded away from us.

"Cammy baby!" Someone yelled which shook me out of the trance and brought me back to reality.

Selma ran to me, pushed Skylar away and sat in front of me. I heard sky murmur something along the lines of 'sneaky tomato' which made me laugh soft at his weird remark.

He looked up at me when I laughed and we held eye contact like that for a short while, both of us were smiling back at one another as I drowned into his gorgeous sea of eyes.

"Are you okay?!" Selma got me out of the trance again and made me look at her.

"Yeah I'm fine, it's nothing.." I sighed and suppressed the feeling of rolling my eyes.

Jake and the rest of the team made their way to us. I slowly got up and smiled a bit to assure them that I was okay.

"And?" I asked Jake for the results.

"Max violated the rules by pushing you on purpose which means that we won Cam!" He smirked and all my team members gave me a hug.

We won?! It was only 1-0 for us!

"Congratulations baby!" Sterre or whatever her name was, smiled proud at me and suddenly grabbed my face to kiss me.

I heard a lot of people cheer from the stands, but also from our team and it deafened my ears.

I tried to focus on the kiss, but I failed big time. In fact, I didn't enjoy this kiss at all, not like I used to do. The kiss was clammy, weird and nasty. Her lips were stone cold and sticky against mine.

At first I liked her and honestly, I don't know what happened between us. All of a sudden I got irritated with her and I didn't enjoy her company, kisses or just her whole appearance anymore.

Maybe I wasn't into Nina as much as I thought I was.

The only thing I could see and think of right now were those platinum blonde hair where I wanted to rake my hands through or these piercing blue eyes that took me away from the world or that adorable laugh of his that I wanted to hear each and every day.

Why the hell am I even thinking about Skylar while I'm kissing a girl?!

Okay Cam, it's okay, just push those thoughts away. It means nothing, everything is okay and everything will stay the same.

Right..?

Shit..
