"Okay class, I received a lot of evidence and even some stories on what you had to do with your partners" Dick said in his usual monotonous voice.

But I couldn't listen or pay any attention to class. My mind was elsewhere, or should I say with someone else..

Because my head was clouded with nothing but this boy called Skylar Jones.

The fair had been one of the best days I ever had in a while. I've never laughed and enjoyed my time in life with someone as much as I did with Skylar.

I actually feel like this whole assignment thing may work out for us. Maybe we could actually be friends one day.

Yet for someone reason he's been avoiding me the previous days. He wouldn't exactly tell me that he has been doing that, but I know that he was. It was too obvious that he was trying to get away from me for some reason..

In class he tried to sit as far away from me as he could, he barely talks to me or responds to any of my texts. Normally he was always in a happy and bubbly mood so he could try to annoy me with it, but now he didn't even dare to make any eye contact with me.

I was starting to wonder why? Sure, both of us weren't pleased with each other.
Who am I kidding? We totally dislike each other, but it wasn't that bad.

Mostly I was pretty good in reading people especially since I already know everyone in this school. But Skylar was different.

He wasn't the same like the rest. This boy was always genuinely happy, stood up for himself when he had to and he was the only one who dared to speak up against me. He insulted me right back and everyone on this school knew that I didn't accept that.

But maybe from Skylar I would accept it.

Besides all of that, he had gorgeous platinum blonde hair that probably made a lot of people jealous since it was so natural. The shining blue eyes showed you a glimpse of the sweet oceans and as last you could see that he was fit.

Maybe not as fit as me, but still fit.

Him ignoring me bothered me a lot more than it actually should have. But why? I disliked him just like how he disliked me back. So shouldn't I be happy that he backed off?

That was what I wanted right? For him to leave me alone and mind his own business.

"Cam, would you like to tell me how the first task went with Skylar?" I heard Dick say which made me look up at him as I tried to focus on the class again.

"Oh.. Uh.. Well, we went to the fair and got in a couple attractions. I guess it wasn't that bad" I shrugged casually.

But it was way more than that: it was amazing. Even though I could never admit that to them or to myself.

Especially not to Skylar.

"That sounds good, it's a first step in the right direction for pretty much all of you. Now on to your second task" He announced enthusiastic.

Everyone started to either groan in frustration or glare at the him and some of our classmates didn't looked very bothered with it.

"You have to share each other's hobby. For example you could go to the gym together if one of you like sports or just invite the other person to come by. I also want another piece of evidence" He explained furthermore.

I didn't listen from that moment anymore and not even five minutes later, the bell rang. I stood up and tried to keep up with Skylar so I could talk with him, but I eventually lost him out of sight.

So I walked towards my locker as I grabbed my phone, I saw a couple of texts that I received yesterday. I've been thinking so much that I even forgot to check up on my phone today.

I told all of you to stop calling me that!

I softly snorted at what the boys said our chat group. They are honestly just idiots. I decided not to reply on where I was even though, I felt guilty for not thinking about Jake.

Since the whole assignment thing I started to get more distant from my social life including my own best friend.

I made myself the promise to hang out with him as soon as I could. I missed the company of my idiotic best friend, he was genuinely crazy and funny at once. But I knew he was always right there for me when I needed him. I couldn't lose someone like that in my life. Besides my parents he was the only one I trusted with my everything.

When I arrived at my locker I saw Sterre standing there already. It kinda feels like she's stalking me.

"Hey babe!" She screeched as she kissed my cheek.

I frowned in disgust as I felt her clammy and sticky lips on my cheek. For some reason I didn't enjoy her kisses like I used to and wasn't interested in her anymore.

It was weird.

"Hey" I said uninterested while I grabbed my books.

"Where were you yesterday I wanted to have some fun?" She asked flirty and touched my chest.

Can someone take her off of me?

"Oh.. I was hanging out with someone" I shrugged.

She seemed to look angry or irritated, but I couldn't care less anymore. I didn't feel like I wanted her anymore even though she looked like Nina.

Something has changed.

"With who?" She eventually asked.

My eyes wandered around the hallway and when I see the devil itself I decided to talk to him.

"I got to go Selma" I closed my locker and went after Skylar before she could say something.

Girl are so exhausting, especially Sterre. There are barely cool or different people here. All of them are the same: either selfish, mean or just plain stupid. The difference between me and them were that I was pretending and they weren't. They were like this from nature.

"Hey" I greeted him when I stood in front of him.

''Hi..'' He muttered soft, still not making eye contact with me.

''Do you wanna come watch me at my basketball practice tonight?'' I asked him and started to bite my lip when I suddenly felt nervous.

He looked up at me with a confused frown which made me feel even more nauseous as I started to think of a quick excuse.

''You know.. For the Dick's task'' I spoke up fast to safe myself.

It wasn't exactly a lie, basketball is my hobby..

''Oh.. yeah sure, text me the details and I'll be there. I have to go'' He looked away and started to walk away from me.

In a moment of panic, I grabbed him by his arm and to be honest Skylar wasn't the only one who looked surprised. I was also suprised, because I didn't know why I stopped him.

''Cam..? I have to go''

I swear it looked like he was blushing, but I couldn't exactly tell. He was constantly looking away from me.

''I- Why are you acting this way? You look distant, did something happen?'' I asked softly and eyed him carefully.

His hair was messy this time and fell a bit over his eyes. The once bright eyes looked dull and empty. Judging by his body language and behaviour there had to be something wrong.

And I could have sworn that my heart dropped to the dusty school ground when I heard his next words.

''Look Cam.. It's just better for you if you stay away from me as much as you can okay?''

The weird boy left me there standing nothing but dumbfounded in the hallway as he walked out of my sight.
