Accent

Chapter 1

*Violets P.O.V.*

I toss and turn in my bed, clenching the edge of my sleeve with my hands. Feelings my arms sting. Trying to fall back asleep, but it's not working.

I then heard a knock on my door,

"Vi, Honey can I come in?" Mom said.

"Is dad out there?" I said opening my eyes, biting my lip trying to hold back my tears.

"No..No my love." Mom said.

Just the tone of her voice made my heart break. Just the way her accent sounds, saying that he's not here. Maybe..he's never coming back. My mother, Belle, made my father leave the town line. Forcing him to go with my mother his dagger in hand. I remember the first and last time I saw him. I was 8, He saw me for the first time when I tried to save my mother. He nearly killed her. But before he did, he looked at me and dropped to his knee's. He then apologized to my mother and stayed. I hate him, so much, he tries to connect with me. But, I won't. Nor could I ever. I want nothing to do with him.

I then blinked my eyes rapidly, getting out of my daze, and feeling the tears fall down my cheeks.

"Come in." I say turning my back towards the door. So mother can't see my face.

I hear the door open and mother's shoes clinking to the wooden floor. She sat on the edge of my bed, putting the loose strands of my hair that escaped my bun behind my ear,

"You know darling, the sun is out and today's a great day to be going outside."

"I don't like the sun." I say closing my eyes.

"Well, the sun likes you. You're making it shine today."

I open my eyes and smile and turn on my back so that I'm looking at mom.

"Not true." I say laughing a little bit.

Mom then laughed with me and kissed my forehead, "Your laugh is why its shining my love."

I then sat up in my bed and let my dark hair out of its sloppy bun and fall past my shoulders, "Whatever mom."

"Well," Mom said standing up, "Why don't you see what Henry is doing today."

"Okay. Don't tell dad. He isn't to know about Henry."

Mom walked out of the door and said, "My lips are sealed."

I then got up and put on leggings and a tee-shirt saying 'Nirvana' written across it, covering my arms as well and black combat boots. I then walked over to the mirror and combed my hair, making my hair wavy.

I then put a bit of mascara on my eye lashes and looked in the mirror one last time, "Let's do this."

I then grabbed my phone and texted Henry_,

Meet me in the woods
By the stream.

I then put my phone in my bra and walked out of my bedroom. I saw mom dusting off the books and the antiues on the shelf, "The perks of living in a shop, right Vi?"

"Nothing better."

My phone then buzzed. I grabbed my phone out of my bra and saw I had a text from Henry,

See you there, brown eyes.

I then smiled at my phone and put it on the chair by my door.

"Alright bye mom."

"Okay Vi. Oh wait Violet!," mom said turning towards me, stopping what she's doing. I then turned towards her gaze, "Stay safe."

"No promises mom." I say walking out of the door.

I then arrived to the stream and saw Henry there sitting on a log, staring into the stream.

"Hey stranger." I say sitting next to him, following his gaze to the stream.

"Hey, brown eyes," he then looked down at my sleeves, "You did it again didn't you."

I looked at him and put my hair behind my left ear, "I'm sorry."

"I hate it when you do this Vi, I hate seeing you like this."

"I know, I know I'm sorry."

Henry then grabbed my arm and placed it in his lap, he then pulled my sleeve up, revealing the two lashes on my skin. He then put my arm in both of his hands, pulling it close to his face..and kissed my scars. He then pulled my sleeve back down and put it back into my lap, "You're strong, Vi."

" I couldn't ask for a better best friend. "

Henry smiled still looking at me,

"Neither can I."

A few hours later we both left to go home. I finally arrived to the workshop and opened the door, hearing the bell chime in my ear. I see my father standing behind the cash register and talking to a boy that looked my age on the other side shaking hands.

"What's going on?"I say.

The boy and father turned towards me. I got a better look at the boy, brown eyes and blonde hair, he seems different though. Very mysterious.

"Violet..," My father says, "This is Thomas-"

"He can introduce himself." I snapped at my father.

Thomas then turned towards me, grabbed my hand and kissed it,

"I'm Thomas, I now work for your father in the workshop."

Thomas said cocking an eyebrow. I noticed he had an accent, but something about it is..different.

I felt he was lost.
