Chapter 23* || You're Just Going To Have To Be Quiet

Curled up in a corner of the library, away from everyone else I am surrounded by rows of bookshelves. This place has become my sanctuary over the past few hours. On the top floor of the library where the only things are reading nooks and bookshelves, it is deserted.
My textbook lays out in front of me on the table, along with my notes, laptop, my empty cup of iced tea and snack crumbs. With midterms quickly approaching before the Christmas break in two weeks. Every student on campus is one enormous ball of stress and anxiety.
Including myself.
"We're going to have another full house for Christmas this year."
My mom's voice reaches my airpods as I speak on the phone with her. "Well, between dad's family and your friends, I'm not surprised."
Every year we have a full house with my dad's family, my mom's dad, stepmom, and stepbrother plus their kids. Along with my parents' friends and all their kids whom I grew up with over the years.
"We're going to need a bigger house at this rate," Mom scoffs, and I chuckle. "How is the studying coming along?"
"I've found a new home in the library, so that kind of tells you a lot," I sigh as I tap my pen against the textbook open in front of me. "I'll just be happy when midterms are over."
"Well, you're very intelligent and don't forget if you do well, Dylan will happily tease your father about the fact he got you into biochemistry, which is a win," Mom explains, and I nod my head.
"Uncle Dylan will never let dad forget that," I laugh. Books dropping on the spare space on the table has me looking up, and Roman's tall frame towers over the table before he sits down in the chair opposite of me. Having come from practice, his hair is damp and his glasses are already resting on his nose.
I tap my wrist and he rolls his eyes before motioning to playing hockey. He places a drink holder on the table before passing me what seems to be an iced tea and a bag that has a muffin in when I look inside. Raising my eyebrow at his niceness, he shrugs before getting his textbooks out.
"And your father will never let me forget that," Mom scoffs, and I can tell she is rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, he won't let me forget it either. He asks me all the time why I had to choose the major Uncle Dylan did," I laugh and Roman shakes his head remembering the conversation at Thanksgiving.
While I remain on the phone with my mom for the next five minutes. Roman sits scrolling through his phone, not once interrupting.
"I should go. It's getting to the time Millie and Lucas get out of school so your father will be picking them up soon and my peace will be ruined," Mom says on the other end.
"I should get back to studying, anyway. I'll see you all in two weeks," I finish before we say goodbye and I cut off the call. "What's this for?"
"Considering you're helping me study, figure it's the least I could do," Roman admits and I happily eat the muffin, having not eaten anything for hours. Roman looks around the quiet area. "Why is it so quiet up here? The biochem books are here, I'm surprised it's not more busy."
"Not this section. People like to be closer to the vending machines and coffee stations." I shrug, taking a sip of my iced tea.
"No idea why, the coffee is crap." Roman leans back before nodding at the books. "How's it going?"
"I'll be glad when it's over," I deadpan. "You managed to start studying?"
"A little, not much. The hockey house isn't the best place to study considering how rowdy everyone is." He flips open his textbook and looks through.
The next few minutes are silent as he figures out where he is up to, and I carry on with some studying. Looking up at him, I cross my arms and lean them on the table. "I know I haven't said anything, but I'm sorry for insinuating during the snowstorm that biochem is a backup and that you don't deserve to be on the professor's internship. I didn't know how important biochem is to you."
Surprise crosses his face as he takes in my apology. "Don't worry about it. You were right anyway. Biochem means more to you because it's your future. My future is hopefully going pro with hockey. So I get why you're so angry that some hockey player who doesn't want biochem as his future is sliding into the internship position."
"Now all I need to do is get you to admit you crashed into me and not the way around and we'll be good." I smirk and he shakes his head.
"Let's start studying."

"You're wrong."
"I'm wrong? This is from the textbook. Are you really going to argue with a textbook?"
I roll my eyes and point to it. "It's out of date that's two years ago. The up to date one proves the information in that one wrong."
Roman scoffs and throws his hands into the air. "You think you know more than a textbook now."
"If you're going to argue with me, then why ask for my help studying?" I question as I stand up abruptly and make my way to the bookshelves.
"Where are you going?" Roman asks, and I turn my head as I walk, seeing him get up and follow me.
"To get the right textbook," I spit out as I run my hand along the spines of the books to find which one I need. "Can you reach that one for me?"
"No."
I turn to Roman. "No?"
"Reach it yourself," He smirks, and I grit my teeth.
"Do you have to be such an ass? Just get the damn textbook so we can go study!" I huff and he stares at me for a few moments before he crashes his lips onto mine and rests his hand on my neck. Stumbling back into the bookshelves, I arch my back and wrap my arms around his neck. He moves down to kiss my neck and I chuckle. "Are we really going to have sex in the library?"
"No one is around, you're just going to have to be quiet." Roman pulls back.
I scoff, crossing my arms. "I can be quiet."
"Hollywood, even music wouldn't drown out your noises," Roman chuckles and my jaw drops but before I can retaliate, he kisses me again. My hands work on his belt as he pushes my leggings down to my knees. I kiss his neck while he fishes out his wallet to grab a condom and I push his jeans and boxers down.
His dick springs free and he rolls the condom on before pushing my underwear down and picking me up. Wrapping my legs around his waist, he grabs onto one of the shelves to steady himself, and I rest my hands on his shoulders as he pushes inside me. I gasp, leaning my head back against the shelves.
Once we're fully adjusted, he starts to move and the shelves shake behind us. I move my hips against his as I dig my nails into his shoulders. His hands on my ass, we change position and I push myself up and down on his length with help from him holding me up.
The noise of a book hitting the ground startles us and we pause, looking to see a few fell off the shelves we're fucking against.
"Oops." Roman shrugs and I laugh before it turns into a moan as he thrusts inside of me, my back hitting the shelves as more books fall off.
"If we get caught, you're so dead," I moan as we get closer and closer to finishing.
"You'd leave me high and dry like that?" Roman questions, but groans as he pushes really far in.
"Bare ass out and all," I tease, and he chuckles before kissing my neck, continuing to thrust into me. The next few moments our breathless moans fill the top floor of the library. We find our highs together before we're slouched against the shelves.
"So much for being quiet," Roman mutters, and I roll my eyes.
"Who's up here?" Someone shouts and our eyes widen.
Roman pulls out and takes off the condom before we pull our pants back up and throwing the fallen books messily back onto the shelves. Rushing back to our table in the corner, as soon as we sit back down and pretend to be studying, the librarian comes around the corner and glares at us.
"Oh, it's just us. Roman dropped some books when he went to get a textbook," I lie, although her face gives away she doesn't believe us.
"Horny kids," She mutters before walking away and Roman and I look at each other and laugh.
