Baby.
Baby.
Baby.
Yoongi stared at the platter before him, one filled with mouthwatering food. Though his stomach growled at the sight, Yoongi couldn't make himself eat it. His fork poked at the food absentmindedly, Yoongi unable to keep the small frown off his face.
"Hey Yoongi, are you okay?"
Hoseok raised an eyebrow at Yoongi's state, looking at him with curiosity and slight worry. The President cleared his throat.
"Do you not like your food?" he asked."I could have the chefs make something else if you would like."
Yoongi plastered a small smile on his face, shaking his head. "No sir, the food is fine."
It's just the word that came out of Hoseok's mouth that was bothering me.
Yoongi continued sulking at the food in front of him once more, wishing that his appetite would return.
"I told you not to call sir Yoongi," the President smiled."You can call me Jungkook. It's my name after all."
"Right s-Jungkook," Yoongi caught himself in time, nodding once. He using his fork to get the smallest bit of food, forcing the bite in his mouth.
Baby.
Baby.
Baby.
Why was that bothering Yoongi so much?
Yoongi's mind wasn't at peace that there was someone out there— some girl that he already had a presumably stable relationship with. The government disapproved of relationships prior to Perfect Match, enforcing the idea that abstinence and waiting for your loved one was the most important thing. It was a also a rule. If you were caught having affairs with someone before you were supposed to, you could be punished.
Yoongi's thoughts raced wildly in his mind, betraying the peace and tranquility he sought to keep in him. How he wished he hadn't heard anything. Maybe then he could be enjoying himself a lot more than he was right now.
Who was she?
Who was the girl that had captured Hoseok's attention before his Perfect Match ceremony? The girl that he wasn't paired to, but still in a relationship with even after being paired with Yoongi. The girl that obviously held a part—if not all of Hoseok's heart at the moment.
Yoongi finally slammed the fork on the table, standing up abruptly.
"Excuse me," he mumbled, heading for the nearest exit.
What were these emotions swirling inside him? Yoongi had never felt anything like it before, not with anyone.
Yoongi paced up and down the hallway, not wanting to risk losing himself in Jungkook's mansion.
Why was one word bothering him so much? He had just met Jung Hoseok, what does his private life have to do with him?
Yoongi looked down at his mark, which was a shade of light blue and green.
That must be why.
He felt a pair of hands on his shoulders. Yoongi stiffened, staying still as he felt someone's hot breath on my ear.
"Are you okay?" Hoseok whispered. Yoongi refrained from shuddering, not used to this close proximity with anyone.
Yoongi nodded, turning towards him. Hoseok let go of Yoongi's shoulders, staring at him with his eyebrow raised.
He raises his eyebrows a lot.
"It's nothing. I was just thinking about my parents back in Daegu." Yoongi lied, trying not to give himself away. Hoseok studied Yoongi for a few moments, trying to find a vulnerability in his expression.
"Those must have been some very conflicting thoughts about your parents." He commented, not tearing his eyes off of Yoongi.
"They were."
Hoseok nodded, uncertainty in his expression. He didn't fully believe Yoongi's words, Yoongi could tell, but he could also tell Hoseok was struggling to form the right words to say without incriminating himself. Yoongi smiled to himself. Hoseok had to be extra careful with his words. If he wasn't, he could say something he didn't want Yoongi to hear.
"Are you sure it wasn't.." He hesitated, assessing his words carefully.
"Wasn't what?" Yoongi winced as his voice went an octave higher on its own accord. He winced at the change, hoping that Hoseok hadn't caught the change.
"The phone call." Hoseok finished, noticing the change in Yoongi's tone. "Was it?"
"I told you before. I did not hear anything about the phone call you made."
He opened his mouth to say something but decided against it.
"The President—I mean Jungkook is going to be wondering where we are." Yoongi said, blatantly interrupting Hoseok's thoughts."We should probably head back. It's disrespectful to leave him alone."
Hoseok nodded, flashing a hesitant smile. Without another word, he spun around and walked back. Yoongi followed after him, feeling worse than he did before.
As soon as Hoseok opened the door, Jungkook looked up. His eyes immediately brightened, a wide smile spreading across his face.
"Is everything okay now?" He asked. Yoongi and Hoseok nodded, returning to their seats.
"Yoongi's just feeling homesick," Hoseok answered."I'm guessing that he hasn't been away from his parents for more than a few hours."
"Shut up." Yoongi mumbled, taking a bite of his food."I'm a family attached person. Forgive me for missing my parents."
A strange expression passed through Hoseok, too fast for Yoongi to pinpoint in certainty. Jungkook looked amused at Yoongi's statement, his whole frame leaning towards Yoongi in curiosity.
"Your parents must be really special to you," Jungkook said, smiling brightly. Yoongi nodded.
"They're the single most important people in my life. It's hard that I have to let them go."
"You'll be okay. After a while, being without your parents will feel normal and you won't miss them as much." Jungkook stated, looking down at his plate."You get used to it."
"That you do." Hoseok nodded.
The room fell into silence as they all ate their food. Jungkook looked up abruptly, the sparkle returning in his eyes.
"Tell me about your hometowns!" He exclaimed enthusiastically."I want to know where you are both from."
"Well I'm from Daegu," Yoongi answered. His eyes widened even more, the excitement pouring from his eyes into his expression.
"My mom was from Daegu!" He replied excitedly."How is Daegu?"
Yoongi smiled at his excitement, telling him everything from his home. Jungkook would lean in closer, nodding enthusiastically at everything Yoongi stated.
His excitement warmed Yoongi's heart, but it also made him realize how much of a kid he was.
Here he was, taking over the burden at an age where he should be enjoying life. The responsibility on his shoulders at such an early age, even if he was considered an adult. It wasn't hard to remember that Jungkook had started his President days two years ago, at sixteen. It made sense Jungkook still had his childlike spirit getting excited over the little things.
The rest of the evening went by smoothly with much conversation, mostly Yoongi telling Jungkook all he could about Daegu and his experiences growing up. Hoseok remained silent, hearing the stories with a small smile on his face. Soon, it was time to return to the chambers and finally sleep.
Jungkook walked Yoongi and Hoseok back to the room, keeping the conversation alive.
"I'm so glad you guys are here!" Jungkook grinned."It gets really lonely in here at times when the only face I see is Taehyung's."
"We're glad to be here." Hoseok grinned in return, clapping Jungkook on the back. "Thank you for letting us stay here for the meantime."
"Of course!" Jungkook stopped in front of their room."Well here's your room. I hope that you both have a good night."
"Thank you, you too." Yoongi smiled softly at Jungkook."Goodnight Jungkook."
"Goodnight!" He waved, before walking the opposite way.
Hoseok and Yoongi entered our room, staring at the bed in front of them as the same thought registered in their minds.
"Who's sleeping where?" Yoongi asked, making sure his voice kept its regular tone.
"The bed is big enough for both of us," Hoseok responded, taking off his shirt and pants. Yoongi looked away, taking a deep breath. He ignored the fact that Hoseok was practically stripping in front of him, looking out the window instead.
At least that was the plan until the words he said registered in Yoongi's mind.
"You aren't serious." Yoongi gawked at him, finding it a bit suspicious. Hoseok was being surprisingly open, a bit too open to the idea. Hoseok nodded, putting on some shorts.
"Well yeah. We might as well get comfortable with each other. We are each other's match after all," Hoseok reasoned."We're going to be stuck with each other for the rest of our lives."
"Okay but it hasn't even been a day." Yoongi pointed out, not feeling comfortable with the idea. "Don't you think this is going a tad bit too fast?"
"Nothing's too fast when it comes to Perfect Matches," He leaped into the bed."Besides, our marks won't let us sleep well if we aren't by each other."
Yoongi frowned."I'm not comfortable with this."
Hoseok huffed, getting off of the bed.
"Fine. Sleep on the bed. I'll sleep on the couch. Is that more comfortable for you?"
Yoongi shook his head, "It's fine. I'll take the couch—"
"No." Hoseok narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms."You're taking the bed. Do not argue with me."
They stared at each other for a few moments before Yoongi's shoulders fell in defeat.
"Fine," he mumbled."I'll sleep on the bed."
After Yoongi changed into some shorts and brushed his teeth, he fell into the soft, cold bed. Yoongi wrapped himself with the sheets, feeling slightly at awe at how comfortable the bed was. It almost made him feel guilty he was making Hoseok sleep on the couch.
Almost.
"Goodnight Hoseok," Yoongi called out. There was a rustling in the couch as Hoseok sat up, sleepiness lacing his expression. Nevertheless, he smiled lazily.
"Goodnight Yoongi."
