MY LEGS GLUED to the ground like a magnet when his deep voice is heard from behind. Adrenaline begins to course through my vein, sending my sanity into a haywire.
I gulp nervously, not exactly in the right mind to react to his words. Taking a deep breath, I turn around and muster my courage to look at him.
His expression holds a different meaning contrary to the intensity of his gaze.
"You left me three years ago before I lost my memories," he continues with a raspy voice, still tugging onto my sleeve. "Why?"
My eyes widen slightly as my breathing becomes ragged. Accident? He got into an accident? So he really did lose his memories?
"I.. I don't know what you—"
He desperately pulls his grip on my sleeve, biting his lip. "Why did you leave me?"
"Sorry, you got the wrong person," I mindlessly utter in a monotone reply.
Just when I'm about to squirm away, he draws my body to his, which catches me off guard.
"Mia.." he softly quips, his eyes softened.
My chest instantly tightens. It has been so long since I've heard him call my name. God, how I have missed him so much.
Seeing him up close cause my heart to almost burst into flames. His handsome face, his velvety voice and everything about him makes it even harder to compose myself.
"I remember everything," he whispers in a hush tone. His expression turns conflicted as if his words affect him a whole lot. "You were my wife but you left me. Why?"
Words are stuck in my throat as guilt and sadness building inside my chest.
"Please.. say something. What happened between us? We love each other, right? If we do, then why did you leave me?"
As if things couldn't get any worse, my emotions kick in as tears are blinding my eyesight.
"I.. I'm sorry," I manage to breakthrough the tears before pulling from his grip and walk away.
Without looking back, I return to the private room and couldn't help but trying to find a way to get out of here to avoid him. The timing is fortunate when Eunbyul's soft voice brings me back into reality.
"Mummy,"
"Hm?"
"I want to go home," she tiredly yawns, rubbing her right eye while pouting.
I smile and tuck her hair behind her ear to keep it from covering her eyes. "Okay, sweetheart, let's go,"
I politely dismiss myself after addressing goodbyes to them.
Once arriving at the lobby, I frown when I glance outside the parking lot to see it is pouring with heavy rain. I decided to wait until it stopped but then a figure appears in front of us holding an umbrella.
I carefully look up and my heart starts to accelerate, only to meet again with familiar pair of beautiful eyes.
"Let me send you two back home," he promptly proposes.
"Oh, Uncle Tae?" A tiny voice, which belongs to Eunbyul squeaks, causing my eyes to widen in shock. How did she—
Taehyung grins. "Hi, sweetheart,"
"W-Why are you here?" I mumble, dumbfounded.
With a charming smile, he nonchalantly replies, "I saw you and I just thought that you needed a ride,"
"No, thank you. I just called an uber so it's going to be here soon,"
He sighs, his eyebrows furrow in disappointment. "Oh,"
"Mummy, I want to follow Uncle Tae," Eunbyul grumbles. "I don't want to wait any longer,"
I bite my lip, feeling conflicted. I don't know if agreeing to this is a great idea because it could be a huge mistake. I'm scared that I might get hurt. Even now, it is painful enough to cross path with him.
"Fine. But tomorrow.. no strawberries for you,"
An adorable smile tainted her lips as her cheeks spread wide. "Okay, mummy. Let's go, Uncle Tae!"
I couldn't be more surprised at how she versatile and transparent my daughter is with everyone around her. Little did she know, Taehyung is her real father.

The heavy rain still hasn't stopped even though it has been for almost an hour on the road due to the traffic jam.
Eunbyul is sleeping in my arms while the radio is playing in the background. I noticed his son sitting on the passenger seat is asleep as well. He is adorable like his father.
That leaves the both of us in car in comfortable silence until he suddenly speaks up.
"Are you cold?"
"No, I'm good," I blatantly lie but he doesn't seem to buy it.
Through the rear view mirror with his hands on the steering wheel, he glances at me worriedly before he speaks again.
"There's a hoodie inside the pocket of my backseat. You could cover yourself up with it," he says, smiling gently.
I puff my cheeks as cold breath drooling from my lips, trying to ignore his words but the cold surroundings makes me do the opposite. I reach forward and wordlessly wrap the hoodie around my chest.
Weirdly, the grey hoodie feels oddly familiar. I shrug the thoughts off and lean closer to my daughter as my eyelids are getting heavier by the seconds.
I try my best not to fall asleep but my consciousness betrayed me as my surroundings turn darker and darker.
•••
I wake up almost immediately when I feel someone softly pat me on the shoulder. Inhaling the cold air, I turn and watch Taehyung standing by the car door, looking as startled as I am.
"Sorry to wake you up but we've arrived," he smiles, opening the car door wider for me. "Did you get a good sleep?"
I blink twice and nod before wrapping my arms around Eunbyul's sleeping figure to hoist her out from the car.
"Thank you for the ride. So um.. goodbye," I awkwardly retort and about to walk away but he stopped me.
"W-Wait!"
Holding onto my arm, he nervously gnaws on his lower lip while staring at me. It takes him a while to speak before muttering under his breath.
"Are you.. married?" he raises an eyebrow with curiosity. "Do you have someone else in your life?"
"What does that have anything to do with you?"
"It does because my marriage is unhappy. I knew something was wrong and telling me that this wasn't the life I would've wanted," he explains and licks his lips. "You were the only woman that I'm in love with. But why am I not with you when it's you who I'm supposed to be with?"
I swallow and avoid his eyes contact. "I have nothing to say about that. I'm sorry,"
"But at least.. explain why did we fall apart? Is it because of me? Did I hurt you?"
He looks so desperate and it bothers me that he really wants to know the truth. But I couldn't bear myself to explain because it hurts me as much as it hurts him.
"I-I'm sorry, but you have to find it out for yourself. Goodbye," I coldly remark and turn away to the apartment building.
As I walk inside, the tears couldn't be of any help as it beg to fall at this moment. Just seeing him makes everything difficult.
I imagine how hard it must have been for him but that doesn't justify anything about the past because he is the one who wrecked our marriage. He was the one who cheated but why do I feel guilty and sorry for him?
I sigh as I step into my apartment before gently placing my daughter on the bed. I was exhausted that I couldn't bother to wash up and change my clothes.
With the energy left inside, I set up an alarm for tomorrow morning and just like that, I fall into my deep slumber with tears stained on my cheeks.
