Chapter Thirty Seven

Nico

9 hours later, there was two babies. A boy and a girl. Charlie and Charles Solace. They were adorable (once they were cleaned, that was) and it just made me want to have kids so bad. They were so small and precious.

Like, of course I can't have kids quite yet. I haven't graduated high school and I'm just turning 17 in January.

So I'd have to wait at least another year until I'm done with high school. And then it's the game of can I manage having a baby and college. And on top of that, if Percy wants kids.

After nine hours, of course Percy was still exhausted. I was tired, but not as tired as he was. He perked up, though, when holding the babies was suggested.

He was a happy little shit today, though. Percy was. He seemed really happy that Annabeth gave birth and I was happy for them, too. And I was still proud of Percy for everything he did yesterday. Because it was a lot.

Beckendorf

I woke up next to Silena in my cabin at camp. Which, last I remember, the ship exploded and...

We died. Percy and I died.

Getting up, I almost ran into a kid who was about... 16? He was pretty scrawny, and reminded me of some sort of elf.

"Oh my—" he said and stopped for a second to look at me. "Sorry, who are you?"

"Uh, Charles Beckendorf." I introduced myself to this guy. "I used to be the councilor of this cabin. Before I uh... died. Is Percy fine?"

"Percy?" He asked which scared me because I thought he might not know him. "Oh yeah! He's down at the infirmary with everyone else. I just got back."

"The infirmary?" That was alarming.

"Oh, don't worry." This dude told me. "No one got hurt, Annabeth gave birth. Everyone is down there to see the twins."

Oh my gods... Percy and Annabeth had kids?
Already? They're only like 18, though.

I suppose were all demigods, though. Starting a family early is always good.

"Got it," I remarked. "Who are you?"

"Oh, sorry." He said. "I'm Leo. I'm the cabin councilor. Your cabin fell apart after you died."

"Of course they did."

He went to check on little Harley and Silena woke up. I told her the news and of course we went to see the babies. I ran into Percy first. He was talking with Grover and... Was that Nico?

Because he's changed a lot. For the better. He looks a lot better. He has color to him again.

"Dude!" I said, surprising the shit out of all of them. "Congrats on the kid!'

"What?" Percy asked me, confused before he realized I meant Annabeth. "Oh, they're not my kids. Annabeth and I aren't together. Her and Will had kids."

"I'm sorry what?" Silena cut in, seeing that it would fall apart as much as I did. Percy and Annabeth should be together.

"Yeah," Nico seconded. "They've been together since... May? I want to say May."

"No, I thought it was April." Percy corrected the son of Hades. "Because I didn't go to prom with Annabeth. I went alone. And that's the start of May."

They both shrugged.

Chiron took a few people over to the big house, and I looked at Clarisse. She didn't seem confused. At all.

"Clarisse," Silena remarked. "Why do they know when Annabeth and Will would've started going out?"

Clarisse just kind of laughed.

"So after the war," she told us. "Percy and Annabeth got together. But they weren't the best couple. Trust me. It wasn't the match made in heaven that everyone thought it was. Apparently Annabeth found out that Percy wasn't actually an open book and she found a lot of shit that happened a while ago and whatever. She let it go, figured he'd tell her in his own time. But a year later, after another war, Romans got mixed up with us and that was weird. But after the war, Nico and Will started dating and while Annabeth is here and Percy's at school, Annabeth and Will kind of... They cheated with each other and Nico found out and told Percy and that was that."

Silena and I shared a look. That seemed... Kind of intense. And like it'd ruin a lot of things.

"So I'm assuming Nico and Percy just hate each other now." Silena assumed, knowing it'd make sense. "It's official? It's not weird anymore?"

"Oh no, it's still weird."

"What? No it's not." Grover insisted. "It'd be terrible if it was. I mean, they live together. After Sally and Paul found out Nico's mom was dead, they made him move in. And that was... June? And you know what happened with that, Clarisse."

"But does Percy want everyone knowing?"

The satyr shrugged.

"Everyone knows anyways."

"We don't." I pointed out. "That's two people for sure. I mean, we thought everyone knew Luke was gay and then Annabeth freaked out like hell on him?"

It was a scary day. Annabeth was... 11? It wasn't long before Percy came here. She was 11 or 12. And she found out that Luke was gay (which I had known for years at that point) and she uh... I mean, she got on trouble.

She's a little homophobic.

"Oh yeah..." Clarisse recalled that day and stopped for a second. "Annabeth probably doesn't know then, either."

"Wait..." Silena realized something and the three of us looked at her. "Nico's gay?"

"No he's not." I told my girlfriend. "What makes you think that? He was from like the 40s. And he's European. Hitler was around then."

Silena pointed down the hall. Percy, exhausted, was attempting to fall asleep on Nico's shoulder. I don't know if Nico was keeping him awake or helping him sleep by rubbing his arm.

And then it clicked.

"Nico and Percy are...?"

When the fuck did that change?

Grover and Clarisse nodded their heads.

I mean, Nico used to despise Percy. He blamed him for Bianca's death and everything. If they were in the same room, there was almost always an argument. It was insane.

They hated each other. And now...

And now they're dating.
