Alex POV

After I was introduced to almost everyone at the party by the enthusiastic Peggy, I finally spotted John, Herc and Laf talking with some other people. Thank god.

"Hey Peggy, I'm gonna go over there and hang out with them, ok bye!" I hurriedly told the youngest Schuyler before running off.

"I see you've escaped the clutches of Peggy," John joked.

"That girl has got the energy of a 5 year old, she never stops!" I said, taking notice of the drink in John's hand. "So you are gonna drink tonight?"

"Yeah, I figured that there will be some sober people to take care of Herc and Laf, and honestly I deserve a drink for surviving the first day. Do you want one?" he asked, holding a cup of some sort of alcohol out to me.

"Nah, I don't really drink," I said, turning down the offer. I turned to where Laf and Herc were standing beside us, having a conversation with some other people. I recognized the faces, whether from classes or from Peggy dragging me around the room I had no idea. Laf turned and saw me, and grabbed my arm, pulling me towards the group of humans which he was going to force me to socialise with.

"Mon ami's, this is my brother, Alex!" Laf exclaimed. "Introduce yourself!"

A girl in pink was the first to introduce herself. "My name is Angelica Schuyler, but you probably already know that because I'm in your Law class," she said. Haha, yup, definitely remembered her name. A girl by her side was the next one to introduce herself.

"Elizabeth, or Eliza Schuyler, it's a pleasure to meet you,"

Schuyler? They must be Peggy's older sisters.

"Hey, I'm Aang," a boy wearing a red headband said, holding hands with a girl to his side.

"And I'm Katara, you might know my brother and friend from your Law class," she said, (sorry zutara shippers, kataang for life!) pointing to two people that I recognized as Sokka and Toph, who were talking to Peggy.

"I'm also in your Law class, my name is Maria," a girl in red said.

"I'm Theo, and this is Aaron," a dark skinned girl said. Our conversation was interrupted by a flash of magenta making its way into the middle of the group.

"And I'm Thomas, the best person you will ever meet- wait I already know all of you." Thomas said. James Madison came over slightly after him.

"Sorry about Thomas, he can be quite overly enthusiastic and self-promoting(idk if that's the right word) at times," he said, apologizing for Thomas.

"Oh, you know you love me!" Thomas said. I noticed James' cheeks go slightly darker, before he responded with a quiet "Yeah,"

The group then started talking again, this time with Thomas and James, so I stood to the side on my phone, reading.

~time skip like a few hours~

I was interrupted from my peaceful reading by Peggy.

"Whatcha doing?" she asked, trying to look at my phone screen.

"Reading," I responded.

"Whatcha reading?" she asked.

"Gay fanfiction about the relationship between the founding fathers," I said without hesitation. Peggy just stared at me. Guess she wasn't expecting that answer. "What, are you homophobic or something?"

"No, I'm gay myself, but I wasn't expecting you to actually answer that," she said, chuckling. "Honestly, I read the exact same thing,"

Yes! Finally a person in real life that gets me! "It's the best, right? Lin and Anthony's relationship in the fanfics is beautiful!" I said, and she agreed immediately. We spent the next few minutes fangirling over Miranda and shipping the same thing, before our conversation was cut short by Angelica coming over to us.

"The party is ending soon, come and have some fun!" she said, walking back to the space they cleared for dancing. Peggy and I followed after her.

The party's size had died down quite a bit, it was basically the group I was introduced to plus a few extras. Most were drunk or at least tipsy, the only ones that remained fully sober were Angelica, Peggy, Katara, James and I. They were all dancing in some sort of big group, but when the familiar tune of 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran came on, everyone grabbed the closest person to be their partner, regardless of gender.

Our little sober group on the edge of the dance floor soon split up. Peggy noticed Maria was alone, so she went over to her, Thomas came over and grabbed a protesting James, Katara walked over to Aang, and Angelica claimed she had to go to the bathroom. On the dance floor, Aaron and Theodosia were paired up, as were Sokka and Toph, Eliza and a girl I didn't recognise, two girls Peggy had introduced me to earlier, Adora and Catra, were together and a grin came onto my face when I realized my brother was with Herc. I was too busy focusing on the people on the dance floor that I didn't see John come up from behind me and drag me onto the dance floor.

"What...what are you doing, John?" I nervously asked.

"Well, I don't have a partner and you don't as well, so let's go dance together!" he exclaimed, his words slightly slurred. He pulled me right to the centre of the dance floor, and I blushed as he grabbed my waist and pulled me in to slow dance.

We spent most of the dance just swaying on the spot, his head on top of mine, but towards the end, I felt him watching me.

"You know, you have beautiful eyes," he said when I looked up at him. I got that compliment a lot, but for some reason it felt different coming from John. I blushed again, looking down, and he put his head back on mine and we swayed for the rest of the song.

Peggy POV

I looked behind Maria at all of the people dancing together, especially Laf and Herc and John and Alex. They would all make great couples. I smiled to myself.

Time for Peggy the matchmaker to do what she's best at. Matchmaking.
