Chapter 31: The Alpha Male

*(Y/N) POV*

I groaned, dragging my feet as I made my way out to the track field. I've been dreading this moment all week.

'I should've given myself more time! Why did I say I can pick an Alpha in a month?' I mentally lectured myself as I forced myself to walk down the hallway, turn left, and walk outside.

I wanted to run away when I saw how many wolves were outside waiting for me. I stopped and took a deep breath.

"(Y/N)!" I heard Ein's voice call from behind me.

I didn't have to turn to face him because he appeared at my side, he had a broad smile plastered on his face, "Have you chosen an Alpha yet?"

My eyebrow twitched, "If I have, we wouldn't be here."

Ein poked my cheek, still smiling, "I know. But I was hoping you'd tell me before you told anyone else."

I sighed, "Sorry, Ein... You'll just have to wait to see."

I quickly walked away from him and down the stairs. I frowned, looking down as I made my way to the podium in the center of the field.

'I want to make Ein the Alpha, but then some other wolf would have to become the Omega... And I don't think Ein would be able to wrap his head around being both like Aaron.' I bit my lip as I stepped onto the wooden platform.

I looked up and saw that there were still some wolves arriving. I sighed in relief. I'll gladly take any little time I have to keep thinking. I rested my elbows on the podium stand and placed my head in my palms.

'Blaze beat the others in the obstacle course each time, and he isn't a bad werewolf at all! But I know Ein would be very upset if I chose Blaze... But I have to put his feelings aside. This isn't about him, and this isn't about me. It's about my pack. Blaze is the best choice.' I inhaled, held it, and released it.

I wiped my hands on my face as I pushed off the podium. I scanned the crowd, and I saw Blaze sitting next to the three pups and the newer werewolf girl Azalea.

I smiled softly; most of the wolves admire Blaze. They'd love him as the Alpha, and I know I could work well with him too.

Then my eyes wandered and fell on the dark-haired werewolf with blue fur, piercings, blue bangs, and silver eyes. Ein was sitting on the front bench, watching some birds in a nearby tree, alone. My heart fluttered as I stared at him, his silver eyes followed the two birds twisting in the air. I sighed as I tore my eyes away from him, even though I feel Ein would be a good Alpha. The other wolves wouldn't like it.

I took another deep breath before clearing my throat to get the wolves' attention. I felt my face warm up when I saw they all stopped talking and glued their eyes on me. My heart started to race in my chest as my nerves began to get to me. I did everything I could fo push my anxiety away as I pulled out my cheeriest smile possible.

"Good afternoon, everywolf!" I said as I started to sweat.

'Shiiz, I didn't think about a speech! Go with the flow, go with the flow, go with the flow, GO WITH THE FLOW!!'

"I know you've all been waiting for this moment... Days. Weeks. A month! And it has finally arrived..." I paused for dramatic effect, also because I had no idea what I was going to say.

I was starting to sweat badly as all their eyes stared at me. Everything in my body was screaming at me to run out of the spotlight. I took another deep breath. I bit my lip as I looked down, my heart was beating so hard in my chest.

"(Y/N)."

I jumped at Mr. Gavin's voice coming from my right. I looked at the old wolf in confusion. He sighed as he asked me in a hushed voice.

"Have you picked an Alpha yet?" He asked.

I looked at the ground, "No... I haven't. I just can't."

Mr. Gavin looked at me with his bright blue eyes before turning to the crowd of werewolves.

"The new Alpha has been named!" He said in a loud voice.

I snapped my head up as I gawked at him, "Wait wh-"

"And that Alpha is... Ein!"

I blinked, 'wait, did he just... Did he just??'

"Me?" Ein jumped to his feet and pointed to himself.

I snapped my head towards him. His silver eyes were just as wide as mine. I looked back at Mr. Gavin and back at Ein.

Mr. Gavin smiled softly at the surprised werewolf boy, "Yes, Ein, you were named the Alpha."

"Alpha?" Somewolf in the crowd asked, "We... have an Alpha?"

"We have an Alpha!" Another wolf cheered.

Soon, the crowd erupted in cheers as the wolves clapped for their new Alpha Male. Ein turned to the group of werewolves, and a light embarrassed blush was on his cheeks as he waved at them. The wolves howled and cheered louder in response.

"What?!" I heard Blaze growl, "How did this happen?"

"This isn't fair!" Raven snapped as he jumped to his feet.

"Yeah!" Evan also got to his feet, glaring at Mr. Gavin, "He didn't even participate in the games!"

My attention snapped back to Mr. Gavin. I quickly jumped off the podium and dashed to Mr. Gavin.

"What?! I'm not complaining, but what?" I searched Mr. Gavin for an answer.

"I wasn't the one who chose him," Mr. Gavin said.

I locked my eyes with his and pushed my power as much as I could, resulting in a slight headache. But then I saw who Mr. Gavin was talking about.

"Aaron?! This was his plan?! Seriously?!" I said as I pulled out my phone and sent my cousin a text.

"How did you-?" Mr. Gavin started.

"I know my cousin," I shrugged.

Cous, if this
is your way
of helping...
You da best!

I have no idea
what you're talking
about!! Heheh...

I giggled softly and put my phone away. Ein ran over to me with the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face. My heart fluttered, seeing how happy he was.

"(Y/N)! We're the Alpha couple now!" Ein said as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into a hug.

"Wait, wha-?"

"Alphas! Can we get a picture of you for the school yearbook?" A werewolf boy asked.

"Sure!" Ein smiled at the boy.

"Wait wha-?!" The next thing I knew, Ein hand pulled me closer to him and smiled as the werewolf held up his phone.

Still confused, I smiled, too, looking at the camera. Then were was a flash, "Thank you, Alphas!"

And the boy was gone. I looked at Ein with a puzzled look.

"What do you mean by couple?" I asked.

Ein chuckled before he looked at me as if I was a toddler who didn't know any better, with a soft face and a sweet smile. I huffed and swatted at his hand as he reached up towards my face, but he just smiles wider.

"I know you don't understand right now, but you will. Eventually." Ein's silver eyes were soft.

"Alright, you two," Mr. Gavin stepped in, "You'll need to be early to school Monday, 7 A.M. sharp."

My jaw dropped, "Why in Irene's name would anyone be awake that early? The earliest I've been here was 7:30!"

(((Sadly, when school was still something we went too, I had to wake up at 5 in the morning because my bus came to my house at 6:45. And I'm super slow... Really slow. I hate mornings)))

"Because I need to go over some Alpha stuff with the both of you before school starts," Mr. Gavin said.

"We'll be there before 7!" Ein smiled.

"Uh, no promises." I scoffed.

"I'll make sure she's there sir," Ein turned his smile towards me.

"Pft, who are you? My dad?" I teased.

There was a flash of irritation in Ein's eyes before he closed them, showing his white teeth as he grinned, "No, I'm someone who cares more about you than your dad."

"And who would that be?" I asked, crossing my arms.

Ein wrapped his arms around me as he leaned in close to my ear, "You're boyfriend."
