Chapter 15: A New Friend
*(Y/N) POV*
I yawned and smacked my alarm before it went off. I didn't need dad to be even madder at me. I stretched as I swung my legs over the bed. And like a zombie, I got ready for school. Why was I so tired? Because I stayed up late last night talking to Ein over the phone.
I put on my school uniform and grabbed my backpack and dragged it behind me as I walked down the stairs.
"G'mornin papa," I yawned as I slowly waddled into the kitchen.
My dad was in the kitchen cooking, with his 'Carful! Hot stuff' apron on. He was making bacon; I could smell it. When he turned around, he jumped.
"Dear Irene! Do you plan on going to school like that?! Your shirts on backward!" He yelped.
I looked down and saw that, indeed. My shirt was on backward. I groaned and pulled my arms in and turned my shirt around, and slid my arms back through.
"Sorry, papa," I yawned again, "Just had trouble sleeping last night."
He nodded and slip a plate of bacon over to me, "I can tell. You probably should brush your hair too, sweetie. The Alpha has to look her best!"
I had no idea how someone could be so cheery in the morning. I grabbed a handful of bacon and shoved it in my mouth. I then proceeded to find a hairbrush to brush my (H/L) (H/C) hair. But before I grabbed the hairbrush, my father grabbed the hand I used to grab the bacon and scrubbed it with a napkin.
"Are you crazy?! Your hand is all greasy! You can't just brush your hair with a greasy hand!" He lectured.
"I cam do wat I want!" I mumbled through the bacon.
My dad sighed and patted my back, "I know, but you'll thank me later."
I proceed to brush my hair and chew my bacon at the same time. I slowly woke up over time as I continued to get ready for school. I had to run upstairs to get my phone. Then when I came back down, my father handed me my lunch with a wide smile.
"Have a great dayy~!!!" He sang as he waved me off.
"You too, dad!" I kissed his cheek before walking out the door.
I started skipping; I felt better already! That bacon had energized me.
"Watch out school!! Here I come!" I yelled and started sprinting to school.
--At School--
I huffed for air as I dragged my body onto the campus.
"Big*huff*mistake*huff*TO RUN!!" I groaned.
My entire body hurt, I was out of breath, and I was once again exhausted. I yawned, I could feel tears build up in my eyes this time. I rubbed my eyes as I walked into the school building and made my way to my first class. I was one of the few ones there this early. I didn't pay attention to who was there as I slumped in my seat and planted my head on my desk, ready to take a quick nap.
"Hey, can I sit here?" Asked a sweet feminine voice.
I looked up to see an Asian girl with long, wavey silvery lilac hair and golden eyes. Her golden orbs were looking down at me, sparkling along with her sweet smile.
"If ya want, I'm (Y/N) (L/N), by the way." I smiled back at her softly.
"Sydney Devereaux," She said as she sat down in the empty chair to my right.
"How long have you been here at Phoenix Drop High?" Sydney asked while placing her bag down beside her desk.
"Nice to meet you, Sydney! I came here after the second semester last year, my family just moved back into the area," I said sitting up before I put my elbow on the desk and rest my cheek in my hand, "How about you?"
"I was actually a freshman last school year, and my brother just graduated from here and went to med school," Sydney sighed.
I looked into her eyes and felt feelings of loneliness. I felt bad for her; she didn't have any friends guessing by how she felt.
"Oh, so you're a sophomore like me!" I smiled shyly, still looking into her golden eyes, "if ya want, we could be friends."
"W-wait, r-really? You would?" Sydney was shocked that she asked, her golden orbs were wide.
I giggled, Sydney didn't know I could feel her emotions, "Of course! Besides, you seem nice, and I need some human friends anyway."
"Finally!" Sydney cheered, "Some real friends!"
The other students in the class all stopped and stared at her excitement. Sydney's face darkened in embarrassment.
"S-sorry.." She whispered softly and waved at a couple of our classmates who were staring at her.
I sighed, 'poor Sydney.'
"Alpha!" Blaze came running into the classroom with a worried expression on his face.
"Hey Blaze, what's-" Blaze cut me off.
"Is it true you were hanging out with the Omega this weekend?" Blaze asked.
"Yeaaaahhh, why?" I blinked a few times.
Before he could say anything, two other werewolves ran into the room as well. It was Evan and Raven.
"Alpha! Is it true you were challenged?" The blonde werewolf asked me.
"Uh, yes, but Blaz-" I tried to speak, but Blaze snapped at Evan.
"Can't you tell the Alpha and I were talking first, Evan?!" Blaze yelled before he picked up Evan and through him through the window into the hallway.
I gasped, the class hasn't even started yet! Then Evan came running back in and started fighting with Blaze. I was getting annoyed. I quickly jumped up, causing my chair to fall as I did.
"ENOUGH!" I yelled, the two werewolves stopped fighting.
"I didn't know you were the Alpha, (Y/N)," Sydney smiled, resting her head on her hand.
She was strangely calm about the situation. But it kinda made me relieved; I didn't want to lose my brand new friend because of the werewolves.
I laughed nervously, "Yeah, it's a short...long story."
I turned my attention back to the werewolves and lectured them about breaking the widow and made them get a broom to clean it up.
I went back to my seat, "Sorry about that."
"Oh, it's totally fine!" Sydney giggled, "I've been through worse..."
I saw the joy in Sydney's eyes fade along with her smile.
"I can tell something's off, " I said, frowning.
"It's nothing really," Sydney laughed nervously and played with her fingers.
I could tell she was lying, but Blaze and Evan came back into the room.
"We finished Alpha, now can we talk?" Blaze asked.
"Hmmm, sure. Sydney, if ya want, we can talk about this later." I said, looking at the silvery lilac haired girl.
"It's fine (Y/N). It's not that serious. You should go ahead, Alpha," Sydney giggled, winking as she emphasized 'Alpha.'
It made me cringe hearing that come from a human, "Okay, that was weird. But I'm always here to talk!"
Sydney smiled back at me and nodded before I turned around to talk fo Blaze.
"Alpha, you really shouldn't hang out with the Omega." Blaze's face was stern.
"Why does everyone keep saying that?!" I sat down in my chair, huffing.
"Because Alpha, you can't see what we see. He's using you to become Alpha," Blaze sighed.
I felt anger rise in my cheeks, but I held my tongue.
'And y'all can't see what I see!'
But I can't say that... I'm afraid of what will happen if people find out. I trust Ein, which is why I told him. But if the wrong person was to know about my ability, I'm scared they'll take me in for some kind of testing.
"Thank you, Blaze, for being worried," I managed to say without yelling, "But what I do isn't part of your concern."
"But it is Alpha. You are our leader; you are the one the wolves look to for everything, more then you think. How to walk, talk, act, behave. You name it! All I'm doing is trying to help you."
"O-oh..." I looked down and started to regret getting angry at him.
'Why was I angry anyway? Why does it bother me so much that people are telling me to stay away from Ein?'
The teacher walked in, and the bell rang. Blaze whispered to me, "Don't worry, Alpha, we can talk about this later."
