Any Glimpse
There may have been a courtyard
between your heart and mine
A garden of sorts that bloomed
at the most inopportune times
It was not long before Christmas
The day you cut your hair
and no man fell as far as I
and I know you were aware
Rebel for the causes
you carried in your youth
I gave my foolish endeavors leave
to understand your truth
The stars that rose beyond the rain
leant their light to my curiosity
and I saw down to unsung pain
and places trapped in worlds unseen
There in dreams we met
and in shaded halls we danced
and in my mind a million times,
your heart I did romance
The streets seem emptier these days
My ordered life is out of place
The only thing that sets it right
is any glimpse of your lovely face
