The Ministry
Be warned, my brother wants to read the Order of Phoenix so I might update this as fast as you want. He was being annoying because he wanted to read it but I was using it for this...so...yeah...
Previously:
"Our mothers are dead, ma'am," Will said. "They died a long time ago. Our fathers are very high up in the government of our world and they provide. The tents are actually much more comfortable than one might think."
"Oh," Mrs. Weasley gasped. "I am so sorry dears, I did not mean-"
"It is quite alright," I interrupted. "But if you would show us the way to where we can pitch our tents?"
"Oh, yes of course," she said. "You both can actually pitch your tents in the front room, provided that you both don't wake the portrait of Mrs Black then you will be fine."
"Thank you," I said, nodding my head deeply.
"Now, for the rest of you," she said as we started on our way out.
"Not just yet Molly," Sirius said, turning to Harry. "You know, I should have expected more questions on what is happening than this silence."
It seems someone decided to do something about Harry not knowing anything, I mentally told Will who snorted. We paused in the doorway to see what was going to happen.
"No," Mrs. Weasley said firmly. "You are too young, Harry dear, you do not need to know what goes on in those meetings."
I rolled my eyes, this was going to last a while. "Come on," I said as I left the room and made my way to the front.
The next morning, Will and I woke up early, before the sun was even close to being up and went on a run on the track in the gym in out tent-mansion. Then we sparred until we judged that the others in the household were up. Vindex, my flying wolf, was there and since I did not want to scare any of the residents of Grimmauld place, he stayed in the tent. We took a shower and walked into the kitchen, still panting from our workout and quick showers.
Only Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Sirius, Remus, Tonks and Harry were there. I looked around the room and even peeked down the hall. "Where is everybody?" I asked as Will and I sat down at the table. "It is already half past five."
Harry and the others looked at me with a funny look on their face. Will was the only one that did not have it, instead, he grabbed a spoon full of eggs and sausage and without looking up, said, "Percy, not everyone gets up as early as we do."
"Well, yeah," I said with a roll of my eyes, "That is why we stayed in our tents and worked out until everyone was up. But apparently, nobody is up at-" I looked at the clock, "five forty in the morning."
"If you remember, Percy," Will said, pointing his fork at me from across the table, "you used to hate waking up at five too."
"I don't know what you are talking about," I said, grabbing some food. I knew exactly what he was talking about.
"Percy," Mrs. Weasley began. I looked up at her, waiting for her question. "How long have you been up?"
I shrugged. "What time does the sun come up?"
Harry's eyes widened. "Around four."
"Oh, then, maybe around three thirty," I said, looking at Will for confirmation. "Yeah, that or earlier."
"Heavens, boy, what were you doing up that early?" Remus asked, his eyes widening.
"Just training," Will said as I narrowed my eyes at the group of people in the room.
"Wait, if you guys aren't normally up at this time, then what are you doing up?" I asked.
"Today is Harry's hearing at the Ministry for that dementor attack," Sirius said. "He did magic outside of Hogwarts and the penalty for that was expulsion but he should not be, given that it was a life or death situation."
"Oh, is that today?" I asked, recalling that Dumbledore had wanted me to go.
"Yes and we really must be going now, we don't want to be late, now do we?" Mr. Weasley said.
"But the hearing isn't until later," Harry said in confusion.
"Yes, but I need to be there in about half an hour so we need to leave now," Mr. Weasley said, ushering Harry out the door. "You can just wait in my office until the hearing starts."
Will looked at me. "Were you not suppose to be there?" He asked me once Harry and Mr. Weasley left.
I nodded. "Dumbledore was going to come over and take me," I informed him. "He said something about Harry not being able to do a sort of transportation method and Mr. Weasley is taking him so he was going to take me."
"What method is that?" Will asked.
"Apparition," Mrs. Weasley supplied.
"What is that?" Will inquired when she didn't elaborate.
"Its that thing that is kind of like what our dads do or Nico but without so much energy," I informed him.
"Let's not tell Nico about that, I have enough of him doing all his Underworld voodoo already," Will groaned.
I laughed and piled on more food.
Not two minutes later, Dumbledore waked through the front door. "Are you ready Perseus?" He asked.
I nodded, my mouth still full of food. Ask him about talking to Harry, I mentally commanded Will.
"Percy wants to know if you have given any thought into telling Harry what is going on," he promptly said.
I rolled my eyes as the others in the room looked at the both of us strangely. Yes, I asked him to ask the old wizard that but he did not need to say that. Now they'll be suspicious...if Sirius was not already.
"Yes, I have given some thought into that and decided that it is too dangerous to do so, as he has a special connection with Lord Voldemort-" Mrs. Weasley and the others shivered at the name, "that causes the Dark Lord to see what is happening and he will know of our plans. Now, Perseus, shall we go?"
I cast Will an exasperated look as I followed Dumbledore out the door.
At the Ministry, Dumbledore led me at a brisk pace down to the lower levels to the hearing room.
"Now, Perseus," he started when he stopped at a door, saying it too quiet for any mortal to hear. "I want you to stay back and just observe unless, of course, you feel the need to jump in."
I made an affirmative grunt, deciding to go with the image of an intimidating body guard.
Dumbledore sent me an amused glance before walking into the room.
The moment he stepped into the room, I started observing. That means I stopped listening. Not kidding, he wanted me to observe, so I am observing. I am an ADHD ex-demigod, he can't expect me to do two things at once.
I noticed that when the old wizard made his presence known, the guy at the head chair grew nervous. He started stuttering and laughing. He shifted his notes a lot and the rest of the people sitting behind him shifted uneasily. Harry, who was sitting in a chair in the middle of the room, had let out an almost inaudible sigh of relief. But with my enhanced hearing, I heared it and smiled.
All in all, everyone was nervous when Dumbledore stepped in except for Harry and I. He must have been a very powerful wizard for the wizarding government to have this type of reaction when he steps into a room.
"...not think you required a body guard, Dumbledore," the man in the high-chair commented as I began to listen.
"He is not for me," Dumbledore said. Is he talking about me? "He is here to make sure something like the dementor attack does not happen again." Yep, he's talking about me.
I moved so I was in a position to see and be near both Dumbledore and Harry.
"Well, he can't be very, what's the word, good," a simpering voice started and from the near eye roll that Harry did, I knew that she was not in favor of Harry going free at all. The person that said it was a toad looking woman who looked completely fake. I almost expected a croak to come out of her instead of the annoyingly simpering voice that did. "Why, he's backed himself into a corner so he can't be doing much help now can he?"
I subtly looked around, which knowing me, wasn't very subtle and lo and behold, she was right, was in the corner. Only she did not know something Dumbledore and I did.
"Madam, if you would be so kind as to notice that we are the ones closest to him and the ones closest to the nearest door," Dumbledore politely said.
The toad looking creature could not make any sort of retort to this and thus, shut up. Which was a relief.
When I saw her face and the face of the high-chair person, I could not help it anymore, I laughed humorlessly.
"If I may be so bold, why are you laughing?" The arrogant person in the high-chair asked.
I immediately stopped and gave him a cold glare. "I am laughing because this whole thing is ridiculous," I started, gesturing around the room. "We are here on a full criminal hearing for 'underage use of magic' and you are not even speaking of those charges. You turned to topic to me and while I am very flattered, I am not the point."
"I'm sorry, who are you?" The annoying man inquired.
I smirked. "Your worst nightmare," I said in a deep, echoing voice, causing him to shiver. "Just kidding, I am Percy Jackson, nice to meet you. what is your name?"
"My...?" The man stuttered. He looked around the room, probably to see if this was a joke.
Wait.
Was I suppose to know this guy? I probably was. Oops.
"My name is Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of the Ministry of Magic," Fudge said. "Boy, do you not know this?" I was suppose to know. Would you look at that?
I decided to let the 'boy' thing go and instead gestured to Harry. "I am sure that underaged magic can and will be excused given that young Mr Potter was using it in self defense," I prompted.
"You do not decide how we run this ministry, boy," Fudge said. Man, now I want a Fudgsicle
"Sorry," I dramatized. At least now I know where Zeus got his theatrics. It was totally from dad. "I did not know you wanted underage wizards and witches to just sit there and accept death. Most might call that...murder."
Murmurings started and now Fudge was even more flustered.
"Let's take a vote, shall we?" I suggested. "Those in favor of condemning an underage wizard for defending himself and a mor-muggle, please raise your hands." Almost gave myself away there.
About a dozen or so hands went up and before anyone could protest me taking over the hearing that I really just wanted to hurry up, I continued, "Those who think this a total waste of time and in favor of releasing all charges or however you say it, please raise your hands." The rest of the house rose their hands, much more than the other vote.
"There, now we are done," I said, clapping my hands together. "Dumbledore, sir, would you mind taking Harry to Mr. Weasley so he could go back home? And the rest of you, please stay a moment, I would like a word."
Harry and even Dumbledore gave me confused looks as the filed out.
Not nice when someone does not tell you their plans, now is it? I mentally told Dumbledore, who's eyes widened in shock before following Harry out. He obviously was not expecting me to break through his mind. His mind was more protected than others I've seen but it still could use a little help.
"Mr. Fudge," I said, turning back to the minister who was trying to sneak out the back. "I suggest you get your arrogant head out of the gutter and face the facts."
"Who are you, boy, to tell us-"
"Do not call me boy," I said, my voice going deep. "I am older than you by at least a century! As for who I am..." I gave a sly smirk that must have scared the poop out of the old man. I'd had enough of this. Dumbledore informed me that the Minister knew about the Greek gods so I decided to shake him up a bit.
"I am Perseus Jackson, otherwise known as Ariston, son of Chaos and primordial of the Hunt, Loyalty, demigods and battle," I said, extending my wings. "I have been called on by Dumbledore to protect Harry this year from a brat known as Voldemort," this caused many to hiss and shudder, "who is back from the dead, as it were, since the ministry is being too much of a stubborn, arrogant brat to realize the truth. You do realize this is giving him the upper hand?"
"You-know-who is not back, I do not care who you are-"
"Would you like the Lord of the dead to help ease you off your high-horse?" I interrupted. I have had enough of this. "The sooner you realize that what Potter is saying is the truth, the sooner you can take action."
With that, I walked out and into-literally- Dumbledore, who was waiting for me in order to take me back to Grimmauld place.
