Prologue
Previously:
Artemis' lips twitched and almost grew into a smile. "Lord Ariston," she started, "Lady Hecate and an old man with a long beard are in the Big House, waiting to speak with you."
"Thank you agin, Lady Artemis," Percy said, smiling, "You can call me Percy."
The goddess of the wild nodded and left, probably to oversee her Hunt.
Percy turned back to Tartarus, who smiled and said, "Go, Percy, we'll speak later, but before you go," he paused and dug in a pocket for something, "this is for you." he said, holding out a gold coin. It was not a drachma, it looked different. "It is called a galleon and you might be needing it soon. Flip it, like the son of Jupiter's old weapon."
Percy flipped the strange coin and caught a...stick? He looked up at the taller primordial with a confused look.
Tartarus just laughed and pushed him towards the Big House. "It works like your 'Riptide', you cannot lose it, now go, brother," he said, still laughing. "I will see you later, if Father does not kill me first."
Percy laughed too and started for the Big House with Vindex on his heals. Things were starting to look brighter than they were before. He wondered what Hecate and that old man wanted.
JUST SO YA'LL KNOW: This chapter is going to sound eerily familiar because I "borrowed" some of it from the first few chapters of the book. I promise that this is going to be the ONLY time I do this and I will only follow the book from here on.
Enjoy
Harry was laying in his room, several hours after the Dursleys had left and about four days after the whole dementor debacle. He had hardly moved after his aunt and uncle left with Dudley, he did not care if they were in the house or not. He was still miserable about the fact that no one is telling him anything and he might get expelled from Hogwarts.
A sudden crash from downstairs caused Harry to bolt upright and yank his wand out. His first thought was burglars but the Dursleys did not have anything of value. Unless you counted the chipped china in the dining room. But then, he realized that burglars would at least try to keep their voices down. Whoever was downstairs was not doing that.
Harry stood with his wand out and facing the door to his bedroom. In the next second, he was staring at the silhouette of multiple people standing in his bedroom doorway.
"Lower your wand, boy, before you take someone's eye out," a low growling voice spoke up. He knew that voice. He had listened to it all last year for DADA. Yet he did not lower his wand, this could have been another imposter.
"Professor Moody?" He asked uncertainly, his heart thumping wildly in his chest.
"I don't know much about 'Professor'," said the voice, "never got around to teaching now did I?"
Harry lowered his wand slightly but did not put it away.
"It's alright, Harry, we've come to take you away," a new voice said and Harry's hear beat increased. He knew that one too, except he had not heard it since third year.
"Professor Lupin?" He asked incredulously. "Is that you?"
"Why are we all in the dark?" a third voice asked, this time unfamiliar. "Lumos."
A wand tip burst into light, illuminating Harry's room and revealing woman with purple hair along with the crowd of people around his bedroom doorway. He recognized Remus Lupin and Mad-Eye Moody in the front but the rest he had no idea who they were.
"Come on down, boy, we need to be ready for when it is all clear," Moody said as he turned to make his way down stairs.
"Are we going to the Burrow?" Harry asked hopefully as he grabbed his already packed trunk and Hedwig's cage and his Firebolt as he followed them downstairs.
"No, too risky," Lupin said, motioning Harry to the kitchen. The group of wizards and witches he did not know but for the purples haired witch were all staring at him like he was on a stage of sorts. "We've set up head quarters somewhere undetectable. It took a while but we did it."
Moody, who was sitting at the kitchen table spoke up, "I suppose introductions are in order," he said gruffly. "This here is Nymphadora-"
"Don't call me Nymphadora," she shuddered. "Its Tonks."
"Who prefers her surname, Tonks," Moody continued as if she had not interrupted. "And this is Kingsley Shacklebolt," he pointed to the tall black wizard with a gold earring in his right ear, "Sturgis Podmore," a wizard with thick, straw colored hair, "and Hestia Jones." A pink-cheeked, black haired witch who waved from the fire place.(An: I only noticed this when I was rereading the book for this one so I-of course- took advantage of this)
Harry nodded his head awkwardly as each of them were introduced. They were still staring.
"We have one more with us but he decided to wait outside for the all clear," Hestia added.
Harry nodded again before turning to Lupin, "What is going on? I have not heard anything from anyone, what is Vol-?"
Moody hissed. "Not here," he growled. "We can't discuss anything here, it is too risky."
"How are we getting to where ever we are going?" Harry asked.
"Brooms," Lupin said, "it's the only undetectable way."
"Remus says you are a good flier," Kingsley said in his deep voice.
"He's excellent," Lupin spoke up from where he was at the counter, writing something down on a pierce of parchment. "Harry, I'm writing to your aunt and uncle to tell them not to worry-"
"They won't." Harry said.
"That you are safe-"
"That will just depress them."
"-and that you will see them next summer."
"Do I have to?"
Lupin smiled but made no answer.
However, a small chuckle came from the doorway that led to the front door.
Harry spun on his heal only to see a tall, dark boy a little older than Harry. He had sea green eyes with golden flecks in them and is raven black hair was nearly as messy as Harry's, only his looked more windswept.
"My nephews and nieces were the same way when I disappeared," he said in an amused tone.
"Not all of us," Hestia spoke up from the hearth.
"Are we clear?" Kingsley asked.
The boy nodded and turned to Harry. "I'm Percy Jackson," he said, holding his hand out. "You must be Harry Potter."
Harry looked at him strangely. He looked at his scar, yes, but he did not stare. He seemed to dismiss it as if he'd seen things like that all the time. He also said his name as if he had never heard of it until recently.
"Before we go," Moody said, standing up, "I need to Disillusion you."
"What?" Harry asked nervously.
"Remus says you've got an invisibility cloak but it won't stay on in the air," Moody said and with out further ado, cast the spell.
As they stepped outside, onto Vernon's neatly kept lawn, Moody called out to the rest of the group. "Now, remember, our job is to deliver him safely to head quarters and if we die in the attempt-"
"No one is going to die," Percy growled out, sounding very different from the cheerful boy inside.
"Mount your brooms, that is the first signal!" Lupin shouted as red sparks flew up into the air in the distance.
Harry could not help but notice that Percy did not have a broom. Before he could say anything, green sparks went up and Lupin shouted, "Second signal, let's go!"
Harry kicked off hard and in the next second, he was in the air, flying next to Percy.
Wait.
What?
But there he was, flying with out a broom. The only other thing off about it was the giant, gold and blue shimmered gold wings that sprouted from his back, flapping peacefully to keep him in the air.
