Prologue

(Y/N)'s POV
It was like no other day in Camp Half-Blood except for the fact that it was snowing. The Camp was usually empty this winter. Annabeth and Percy were at their new schools but luckily Thalia stayed.

I was happy Thalia stayed. She was impressed how much me, Will, and Annabeth have gotten along in Camp. But she was a little hurt when I told her about Luke. She was also a little surprised that I was dating Percy so she started to get a bit protective but I reasoned with her that Percy was a great guy.

Right now we just finished sword practice, when Conner and Travis Stoll invited us to have a snowball fight against the other campers which we agreed to.

I threw another snowball at another Ares kid's face and his reaction was priceless! Me and Thalia laughed at him. Then Chiron came up to me. He was a little amused when he saw snow in my hair.

"(Y/N) dear, this is a letter for you. Hermes just dropped it off."

He handed me a white envelope as he galloped off. I was a little confused by this.

'Who sent this to me?'

I excused myself from the game, and went to my cabin so I could read whatever was in the envelope. I saw my brother, Will on his bunk that was below mine and my youngest half sister, Ashley. They both stopped talking when I entered.

"(Y/N)!" Ashley cheered as she ran up to me to engulf me in a hug.

"Hey Ashley." I said as I hugged back.

I love Ashley. She came to Camp just last week. She was so shy at first but luckily she opened up to me and Will. I helped her get used to Camp by helping her train and get along with the other campers. I also told her about Percy, who she calls my 'Prince Charming.'

"Hey sis." Will greeted.

"Hey Will." I said as I took off my jacket.

"(Y/N) guess what!" Ashley said.

"What?" I asked.

"Will taught me how to play the lyre!" She said excitedly.

"Wow really?"

She nodded her head.

"Yeah, he said I'm a expert!"

"Wow, that's great, Ash." I said using her nickname that she loves so much.

"Can we build a snowman?" Ashley asked.

"Oh I can't right now Ash, but how about you go play with Travis and Conner. They might help you."

"Ok." She said.

She grabbed her pink jacket and pink ski cap then she ran out the cabin.

"She's doing a lot better since she got here." Will said as he stood up from his bed.

"Yeah." I said as I sat down by the desk that was next to our bunks.

We usually write poetry or music there. Above the desk was a small bulletin board that had a few things on it like some of our favorite poems. There was only one picture on it. It was an old picture of my mom when Will and I were just 4. I smiled at the picture.

"What's with the letter? Who's it from?" Will asked.

I shrugged my shoulder.

"I don't know. I just got it."

"Let me see." Will said as he tried to get the letter from my hands.

"No way. It's for me, not you." I said as I kept the letter out from his reach.

"Ugh fine." Will pouted. "I'm going to check on Ashley. Who knows what the Stoll brothers are teaching her." He said as he went outside, leaving the entire cabin by myself.

It was only us three in the Apollo cabin. Will and I were always year-rounders. We don't have a home-well we do but we don't want to see our stepdad who caused our mom so much pain. And Ashley was on her own since her mom died. When I asked her how she got to Camp, she said that the glowing light helped her. I had a feeling that Dad helped her.

I opened the envelope to find a silver-colored brochure. I read the title.

A WISE CHOICE FOR YOUR FUTURE!

I opened it to find pictures of girls doing hunting stuff, chasing monsters, and archery.

HEALTH BENEFITS INCLUDE IMMORTALITY AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU!

SPECIALS:A BOY-FREE TOMORROW!

I found another piece of paper in the envelope. I opened it and my eyes widened when I saw that it was from my immortal aunt, Lady Artemis.

Dear (Y/N),
Please consider this offer. Just think of the possibilities that you will have here. I don't do this to other girls so think carefully. Again please consider the offer.
Sincerely,
Lady Artemis

I was shocked by this. I always wanted to join the Hunters ever since I was 7. I remembered when Artemis said that me and Annabeth could join at that time but Thalia, Luke, and Will was against the idea. Besides that was years ago, I was just a little kid back then!

I groaned.

'I can't join because if I do I have to break up with Percy and I can't do that. I love him too much. And what about Will? And Ashley?'

I sighed and hid the papers in the drawers. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. I climbed on top of my bunk and sat there, thinking.

Whenever I'm stressed out, I would always write a poem on whatever is on my mind.

Right now, I was thinking about my mom. I missed her. I would still remember her singing me and Will to sleep. I looked at my gold charm bracelet. Will had a matching one. Our mom gave it to us before she died. She said it was a gift from our father, Apollo.

I started to write down a short poem, when Thalia burst into the cabin along with Chiron. They both had serious faces.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Grover just send an emergency message. You and Thalia would go to Westover Hall. Percy and Annabeth are already coming. So you two get ready." Chiron instructed.

I nodded and stuffed my poem under my pillow. Chiron left but Thalia didn't.

"What were you writing, (Y/N)?" She asked.

"A poem." I replied as I grabbed my backpack and started packing.

I looked back at her and saw Thalia grabbing the poem and started reading it.

"No!" I yelled.

She looked at me surprised, raising her eyebrow.

"I-I mean...it's j-just that...it's about my mom." I said sadly.

Thalia never talked much about her mom. I figured that she died or either disowned her. She already knew what happened to my mom.

But Thalia smiled warmly.

"I understand (Y/N). You miss her."

She came up to me and hugged me. I hugged back. We pulled back. She gave me back my poem.

"Ok hurry up and pack. I'll see you at the entrance." Thalia said as she walked towards the door. "By the way, that was a good poem (Y/N)."

I smiled at her.

"Thanks, Thalia." I said.

She nodded and went to pack her things. I looked at the poem and placed under my pillow. I quickly packed the necessary things I might need. Once I was done, Will entered the cabin. He saw my backpack and figured I was leaving because then he went up to hug me.

"Just be careful, ok, (Y/N)?" He whispered. "No dangerous things that can get yourself killed, alright?"

"I can't promise you that Will. You know my fatal flaw. But I'll try not to die, I promise. Besides what would you do without me?" I joked.

"I don't know and I don't want to find out. Now go. Thalia is probably waiting for you." Will said.

I nodded and put on my jacket and my ski cap. I was just about to leave the cabin when the door opened and Ashley ran up to me.

"You're really leaving?" She asked, almost in tears.

I kneeled down to her level.

"Yeah, I'm leaving but I'll be back before you know it. Don't worry about me, alright?"

Ashely nodded slowly and wrapped her small arms around my neck. I could feel her tears in my neck. I hugged back. We pulled away.

"Be safe, (Y/N)."

I smiled.

"I will. Be a good girl while I'm away. And take care of Will for me, ok?" I said as I poked her cute button nose.

She giggled.

"Ok." She turned to Will. "You'll still teach me how to play the lyre, right?" She asked innocently.

Will smiled and nodded.

"Ok, I really gotta go. Thalia's waiting for me." I said as I got up to my full height.

Will and Ashley nodded and hugged me one last time and said their goodbyes.

I walked towards the entrance of Camp and saw Thalia waiting for me. We saw Percy's mom car at the road waiting for us. We climbed in and drive off towards Westover Hall.
