Chapter 8

Percy's POV
We all climbed into the bus. The Hunters were all in the back, trying to stay away from us as possible.

"So who wants to drive?" Apollo asked, trying to act happy but you could hear a little sadness in his voice.

I didn't blame him.

"Me! Me!" Nico asked, jumping up and down in his seat.

Apollo shook his head.

"Nope. Too young."

"Pick me!" Grover said while desperately waving his hands.

"No. Too furry."

Apollo glanced at Thalia.

"Thalia! Daughter of Zeus! Perfect."

"Um, no thanks." Thalia said.

"Oh, come on now. How old are you?" Apollo asked.

"I-I don't know." Thalia said sadly.

Sadly it was true. She was turned into a tree when she was 12 to prevent her from dying. That was 7 years ago. Right now she should be 19 but she looks somewhere in between those ages.

Apollo narrowed his eyes at her.

"You're 15, almost 16. Birthday is next week. December 22."

"R-really?! I'm 15 and that's my birthday!" Thalia said happy, finally knowing her birthday.

"Meaning you're old enough to drive with a learner's permit." Apollo said, while tossing the keys at her.

Thalia caught the keys easily.

"Um I don't-"

"Come on now. You're Zeus's kid. It's not like he's going to last you out of the sky." Apollo laughed, while we looked at each other nervously.

'Might want to hang on to something...'

~

"Right there!" Apollo pointed while still hanging on tightly to the seat. "Camp Half-Blood is dead ahead."

I looked out the window. Camp Half-Blood came into view.

"I'm under control. I'm under control." Thalia muttered over and over again.

"Ok now brake." Apollo said.

"I can do this." Thalia said.

We were about to crash.

"BRAKE!" Everyone yelled.

Thalia slammed on the brake. The sun bus crashed into Camp Half-Blood canoe lake.

"Well," Apollo said trying to stand up. "You were right. You had everything under control."

He opened the door and we all got off the bus, a little sick from our ride on the sun bus.

I was surprised that it was snowing in Camp because of the magic climate control. The cabins were decorated with tiny flickering lights that look like balls of fire depending on the cabin. Ares was red, Poseidon was blue, Apollo was gold, Aphrodite was pink, etc.

"Woah." Nico said as he looked at Camp. "This is so cool!"

"Tell Chiron we will be in Cabin 8. Hunters, follow me." Zoe said.

"Oh, I'll show you the way." Grover offered.

"We know the way." Zoe retorted.

Grover kept insisting until Zoe knew there was no getting rid of him. The Hunters grabbed their stuff and headed towards their cabin. Before Bianca left, she whispered something to Nico, but he scowled and turned away.

Annabeth and Thalia led Nico towards the Big House.

"Percy."

I turned around. Apollo was looking at (Y/N)'s bracelet.

"Yes?"

"Did she...did she say something to you before she..."

"Yeah." I said sadly, remembering that moment.

"What exactly happened?" Apollo asked.

"We had the manticore cornered and it tried to escape by attacking the di Angelo kids. But (Y/N) didn't let that happen. She ran towards them and attacked him. She got on his back and stabbed him. Then the manticore jumped over the cliff with (Y/N) still on his back.....She said that she sorry."

Apollo smiled sadly.

"That sounds like something (Y/N) would do." He sighed. "She's just like her mother."

He looked at me.

"I should kill you right here right now for not taking care of her but I won't."

I was a bit confused.

"And why not?" I asked. "Not that I want to die right now."

Apollo was silent for a moment.

"I'm the god of prophecy so I know stuff. Let's just say you're involved in a lot of stuff."

He was right. The Great Prophecy is for the half-blood child of the Big Three. It was either me or Thalia that has to make a choice that either save or destroy Olympus. But that's all I know about the prophecy.

"Just watch out for those prophecies, Percy."

Apollo then tossed (Y/N)'s bracelet to me. I caught it.

"I'll see you later, Percy." He said as he climbed back on the bus.

I looked away as the sun bus started to glow brighter. Once I looked back, I saw a red Maserati soaring in the sky.

I looked back at (Y/N)'s bracelet and clenched it, promising myself to give this bracelet back to (Y/N) no matter what.

~

As I entered the Big House, I saw Chiron (in wheelchair form) and Mr.D playing cards. Annabeth, Thalia, and Nico were in front of them. It smelled like hot chocolate and the fire in the hearth made the room warm. It felt like home...but not to me. Not without (Y/N).

Chiron looked up when he saw me and smiled.

"Percy!" He greeted.

I didn't greet back.

"What's wrong? And where's (Y/N)? I thought she was with you."

I clenched my fist even tighter until my knuckles turned white. Chiron looked at Annabeth and Thalia who were trying not to cry. Even Nico looked sad.

"Oh dear, not another one lost." Mr.D said in a bored tone.

"Wait, what do you mean? Who else is lost?" Annabeth asked. She always hated not knowing something.

Before anyone could say something, Grover trotted into the room. He had red slap marks on either side of his cheeks and a black eye but he was grinning like a mad man.

"The Hunters are all moved in!" Grover announced.

Chiron frowned a little

"The Hunters? I see we have much to talk about."

He glanced at Nico, who was fiddling with a figurine.

"Um Grover, why don't you take Nico to the den and show him our orientation film."

"But..." He stopped for a moment but then nodded. "Come on, Nico."

"Uh is it G or PG?" Nico asked.

"It's PG-13." Grover answered.

"Ok."

Nico followed Grover out of the room. Chiron looked back at us.

"Now please explain what happen from the beginning." Chiron said.

We told him everything. Once we were done, Chiron looked at Mr.D.

"We should launch a search for (Y/N) immediatly."

"Certainly not!" Mr.D replied.

Thalia, Annabeth, and I started to protest but Mr.D held up his hand. His eyes showed that purplish fire that meant that something godly would happen if we didn't shut up.

"From what you have told me we have broken even on this escapade. We have regrettably lost *fake name that's close enough to your real name*-"

"(Y/N)." Thalia, Annabeth, and I said at the same time.

"Whatever. And you procured a small annoying boy to replace her. So I see no point risking further half-bloods on a ridiculous rescue. The possibility is very high that this (Y/N) girl is dead."

Before I could say anything, Annabeth spoke.

"She still might be alive. I taught her a lot about battle strategies ever since we were 7. If the enemies got her, she will try to play for time. She might even pretend to be on their side."

"That's right. Luke would want her alive." Thalia said.

"Well I guess, she should be smart enough to escape on her own." Mr.D said.

I had enough of this.

"You're glad to lose another camper! You'd like it if we all just disappeared!" I yelled at the wine god.

"Do you have a point, Perry Johnson?" Mr.D yawned.

"Yeah. My point is just because you were sent here in this Camp doesn't mean you have to be a lazy jerk! The least you could do is help a little!"

Silence filled the room except for the crackling of the fire. Just as Mr.D was going to say something, Nico burst into the room followed by Grover. Nico gasped at Chiron who was now in his centaur form.

"THAT'S SO COOL! You're a centaur!" Nico yelled.

Chiron gave him a small smile.

"I am, Mr. di Angelo. I prefer to stay in my wheelchair form for first encounters." Chiron explained.

Nico looked at Mr.D.

"And you're the wine dude?! No way!"

Mr.D looked at Nico.

"The wine dude?" He asked, confused.

Nico started explaining his Mythomagic game to the 'wine dude'. Mr.D was so confused that he forgotten he was about to kill me just a few seconds ago. Luckily, Chiron told us to go to the cabins to tell the other remaining campers that we were going to play Capture the Flag with the Hunters tomorrow evening, since it was tradition.

We all walked out of the room and was about to head out the Big House when the door barged open. Will Solace, (Y/N)'s biological brother, stood there panting as if a monster was running after him.

"Where's (Y/N)?" He asked, more like demanded.

We glanced at each other, not knowing what to say to him.

"Will..." Thalia said calmly. "Don't get mad-"

"I think it's a little too late for that Thalia." Will interrupted her. "Where's (Y/N)? Why isn't she with you?"

I explained everything to Will. It's the least I could do for now. After I told Will everything, he looked beyond angry. He completely caught me off guard when he tackled me to the ground and started punching me.

"You were suppose to protect her!" Will yelled.

I was about to respond when he punched my face. I grabbed his arms so he wouldn't hit me again.

Thalia and Annabeth grabbed Will and got him off of me. Will tried to get out of their grip but failed. The girls let go once he finally calm down but he still looked like he wanted to kill me. Annabeth helped me up. Once I did, I looked at Will.

"Will, I swear, I did the best to protect her." I said.

Will scoffed.

"Yeah, sure you did. Look where that got her." He mumbled.

With that, the son of Apollo walked out the Big House. I sighed. Will trusted me to take care of his sister and I failed. He lost his mom years ago and now his sister is missing, not knowing if she's alive or not. I couldn't imagine what he's going through.

"I should go back to my cabin." Annabeth said, breaking the silence.

As she pass by me, she gave me a sympathetic smile.

"You're lucky that Mr.D didn't kill you, Percy." She said, trying to cheer me up.

"Yeah, I guess so..." I said as Annabeth left the Big House.

Thalia and I walked out the Big House and just walked around Camp, telling the campers about Capture the Flag. We stopped by the armory and looked across the valley. Thalia sighed as she looked at her pine tree that had the Golden Fleece on a branch.

"First I found out that Luke is lost...and now (Y/N) is also lost." Thalia said sadly.

I looked at her. Now I feel more guilty than ever. Thalia met (Y/N), along with Will, when they ran way from home. She's basically like an older sister to (Y/N).

"Hey, don't think that way. You know that (Y/N) wouldn't want that." I said

Thalia looked at me.

"You're right. She wouldn't want that. I just don't get why her." Thalia said.

"I know, it's just so unfair."

Thalia just chuckled.

"Percy, life is unfair. Sometimes I just wish all this was just..."

She closed her eyes, not able to continue her sentence.

"We'll get (Y/N) back. Don't know how but we will." I said.

Thalia nodded.

"We'll find a way."

Suddenly we heard yelling over at the basketball court. A few of the Hunters were arguing with a guy from the Ares cabin. It looked like they were going to kill each other.

"I'll break that up. You should go back to your cabin. No offense, but you look like crap."

"Thanks. By the way, you should be the team captain for Capture the Flag."

Thalia shook her head.

"No, you should."

"How about we co-captain." I suggested.

Thalia thought about it before nodding.

"Thalia?"

"What?"

"Sorry about what happened at Westover and also when I asked about your mom." I said.

"It's alright, Percy." She said before she left towards the basketball court.
