Chapter 19
Percy's POV
Once I made eye contact with the goddess, I forgot everything. Who I was. Why I'm here. How to talk.
The goddess was wearing a red satin dress. Her flawless, ever changing hair was in beautiful curls but then super straight and then in small braids with small flowers in it. Her makeup was perfectly done.
She reminded me of my old school crush when I was in 4th grade and then my celebrity crush of 5th grade. But when the goddess smiled, my brain quickly thought of (Y/N).
In fact, the more I thought about (Y/N), the more the goddess started to look like her. Her silky (H/C) hair. Her beautiful (E/C) eyes that sparkle in the light.
"Ah, there you are, Percy. I am Aphrodite." The goddess of love introduced herself. "Please sit down."
I sat down across from her.
"Um uh gah." I said, or at least I think that's what I said.
"Aww. You're just too sweet. Here," Aphrodite said as she handed me a big mirror, "hold this please."
She started to put more lipstick even though her makeup was already perfect.
"Do you know why you're here?" The goddess asked.
I pinched my arm, hard.
"Uhhhhh." I said. "I-I don't know."
"Still in denial, aren't you?" Aphrodite said.
I could hear Ares chuckle outside of the limo and this made me angry, helping me clear my mind a little.
"I'm here to rescue Artemis. She's been captured. She was tracking a monster." I said.
Aphrodite rolled her eyes and groaned.
"I'm pretty sure that's why the others are on this quest. Why is it always some monster? And if you're going to kidnap a goddess, she has to be breathtakingly beautiful, don't you think?" Aphrodite said as she dabbed a bit more mascara.
'Is she for real?'
"But I'm asking you, Percy." Aphrodite said. "Why are you on this quest?"
I didn't want to answer her at first, but her captivating (E/C) eyes drew an answer right out of me.
"(Y/N)." I said immediatly. "She's been captured. She needs me."
"There you go!" Aphrodite said as she started to fix her hair. "Oh this is a classic D.I.D scenario."
"D.I.D?" I asked, confused.
"Damsel In Distress of course." She said as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.
(A/N):Anyone know where I got this reference. Hint: Disney Hercules)
"I have to help her. The Oracle gave me a prophecy on how to save her and then I had dreams about her."
"Awww," Aphrodite cooed. "That is so cute. You two are definitely my new OTP. And that's why I'm on your side Percy."
"How?" I asked.
"Well, I helped you get on this quest." She said. "The poisoned shirt the Stoll brothers gave to Phoebe. Annabeth's invisibility cap that she supposedly left for you. Your pegasus, Blackjack, was sent to find you. Helping you sneak out of Camp?"
"You did all that?"
"Well duh! You are not on a quest to save Artemis and find some monster. Talk about boring. But a quest to save your girlfriend is quite interesting. I mean you do know she was thinking about joining the Hunt?"
I stayed silent, knowing that she was right.
"But you can stop that. Save her from throwing her life away." She sighed dreamily. "So romantic. Oh you can put the mirror down now. I look fine."
I put the mirror down and noticed how sore my arms were. How long was I holding that thing?
"Now listen, Percy, just concentrate on saving (Y/N). She needs you and you need her."
"But where can I find her?" I asked.
"As much as I want to help you, Percy, I can't tell you the details." She sighed as she placed her hand under her chin. "It's been ages since I'd seen a good tragic love story."
"What?"
"Oh, forget I said that. Just remember love conquers all." Aphrodite said. "Look at Helen and Paris. They didn't let anything come between them, did they?"
"Didn't they start the Trojan War and get thousands of people killed?"
"Pfft. That's not the point. Now go rescue your damsel. Oh and also be careful in my husband's territory. He is really picky about his stuff."
I was about to ask what does she mean about that when Ares grabbed my shoulder and pulled me out the limo.
"Consider yourself lucky, punk." Ares grumbled. "Be grateful."
"For what?" I retorted.
"That we're being nice. The only reason why I'm helping you is because you might start the biggest war in history and I can't risk messing that up. Besides, Aphrodite thinks you're some kind of soap-opera star. You and Apollo's daughter is all she talks about these days. It's like a damn romance novel." (A/N): TWD anyone? Sorry I had to😅) Ares said annoyed. "Anyways try not to die, punk."
And with the snap of his fingers, him and the limo disappeared. Leaving my friends and I in the middle of a junkyard in a desert.
"What did she want with you?" Bianca asked, after I told them about Aphrodite.
"Um she uh said to be careful in her husband's junkyard." I lied. "She said not to pick anything up."
Zoe only narrowed her eyes, not believing me at all.
"The love goddess would not make a special trip to tell thee that." Zoe said. "Be careful, Percy. Aphrodite has led many heroes astray."
"For once, I agree with Zoe. You can't trust Aphrodite." Thalia said.
I looked at Grover who was looking at me like he knew exactly what the goddess and I were talking about.
'Why won't you tell them the truth?' Grover asked using the empathy link.
'Don't know what you're talking about.' I replied.
'You know what I'm talking about. (Y/N) may be your girlfriend but she's also our friend. We care about her too.' Grover reasoned.
'....She said that love conquers all.'
Before Grover could say anything else, I changed the subject.
"Ok so how do we get out of here?" I asked.
Zoe looked up at the stars.
"That way," she pointed, "that is west."
"You sure?" I asked.
"Yes I am. Ursa Major is in the north," Zoe said, "making that way west."
We walked west until we reached the crest of the junkyard. The piles of scrap metal glinted in the moonlight.
"Wow." Bianca said in awe. "That stuff looks like gold."
"It is." Thalia said. "But like Percy said, don't touch anything. This is the junkyard of the gods."
Grover walked to a pile and picked up a crown that was made out of gold, silver, and other beautiful jewels.
"You called this junk?" Grover asked.
He bit a piece off.
"This is delicious!" He exclaimed.
Thalia grab the crown from Grover's hand and threw it back into the pile before he could bite another piece.
"Grover, I'm serious!"
"Look!" Bianca said as she ran towards another pile of metal.
She picked up a bow that glowed silver in the moonlight.
"A Hunter's bow!"
Suddenly the silver bow began to shrink until it became a hair clip shaped like a crescent moon.
"It's just like Percy's sword and (Y/N)'s bracelet."
Right when Bianca mentioned (Y/N)'s bracelet, I looked at it. Most of the bracelet was still black but it still had some gold.
"Leave it, Bianca." Zoe said.
"But-"
"It's here for a reason. What has been thrown in this junkyard must stay in this yard. It is either defective or cursed." Zoe explained.
Bianca frowned but still placed the hair clip down.
Thalia looked around the place.
"I don't like this place." She said.
"Why? You think we're going to get attacked by some killer refrigerators. I joked.
Thalia glared at me.
"No but I think Zoe's right. Stuff here get thrown away for a reason."
"That's the second time you've agreed with Zoe." I muttered.
"Shut up!"
Together, we continued to walk our way west in the junkyard, thanks to Ursa Major. As we walked through the piles of metal, we found pretty cool stuff that were just too tempting that we just had to pick it up.
After what seems like forever, we finally came to the edge of the junkyard. We could see the lights of the highway but something big was in the way. It was made out of metal. Larger than a football field and bigger than goalposts.
"They look like-" Bianca started to say.
"Toes." Grover interrupted.
"Really, really large toes."
Zoe and Thalia looked at each other nervously.
"Let's go around. Far around." Thalia said.
"But the road is right over there." I said. "It's quicker if we just climb over."
PING.
Thalia readied her spear as Zoe drew her silver bow but then realized it was Grover. He threw a piece of metal at the toes making a deep echo.
"Why did you do that?" Zoe demanded.
"I don't know. I uh don't like fake feet?" He said.
I gave him a 'really' look, since I didn't believe his excuse.
"Come on." Thalia looked at me. "Around."
I didn't argue and neither did anyone else.
We walked more until we finally stepped onto the highway.
"We made it out. Thank the gods." Zoe said.
As soon as the words left her mouth, we all heard a loud sound that sounded like a thousand trash compactors crushing metal.
I quickly looked behind us. The scrap mountain was slowly rising up. The toes tilted over. The mountain of metal was a bronze giant in full Greek battle armor. Half is his face looked melted off. His joints creaked loudly like nails to a chalkboard. The metal giant's face looked down at us.
"Talos!" Zoe gasped.
"W-who?" I asked.
"One of Hephaestus's creations." Thalia said. "But that can't be the original. It's too small. It's probably a prototype. A defective model."
With the word, 'defective' the giant unsheathed his metal weapon.
"Someone took something." Zoe said. "Who took something?"
She stared at me as if I was the guilty one.
"Hey I'm a lot of things, but I'm not a thief."
I glanced at Bianca and I swear she looked guilty but I had no time to think about it. Talos took one step towards us, making the ground shake.
"Run!" Grover yelled.
We quickly ran and then split up. Talos swung his gigantic metal sword but this caused a few power lines to break making electric sparks fly everywhere.
Zoe aimed her arrows at the giant's face but it had no effect. Grover was climbing up a mountain of metal. Thalia had her spear in front of her, ready to slash at anything in her path. Somehow, Bianca and I ended up together, behind a broken chariot.
We looked at each other and I could see the guilt in her eyes.
"You took that bow, didn't you." I said.
"No!" Bianca said, but her voice said otherwise.
"You're lying! Give it back! Throw it down!" I said.
"I-I didn't take that bow! Besides it too late now!" Bianca cried.
"What did you take?" I asked desperately.
A massive creaking sound was heard before Bianca could answer. I could see the giant's shadow above us.
"Move!" I yelled.
We both moved just as the gigantic foot stepped down where we were just hiding seconds ago.
I could see Grover playing a melody on his pipes, making the downed power lines begin to dance. Then the power lines started to wrap around Talos's leg, sending electricity up the giant's backside.
"Come on!" I said to Bianca.
But Bianca didn't move. Her hand went to her pocket and brought out a small figurine.
"I-It was for Nico. It's the only statue he didn't have." Bianca explained with tears in her eyes.
"How can you think of Mythomagic at a time like this?" I said. "Throw it back. Maybe the giant will leave us alone."
Bianca dropped the statue but nothing happened. Talos was still moving. Moving towards Grover to be exact.
"Hey!" Thalia yelled as she pointed her spear at the giant's face. A blue arc of lightning shot out from her spear, hitting Talos in the knee. The metal monster fell but it quickly got back up.
He raised his foot to stomp at us when I saw the huge hole under his foot.
"Crazy idea." I said.
"Anything." Bianca said.
"There's a hole under his foot. There may be a way to control him. Some kind of off switch or something. I'm going inside." I explained to her.
"How? Are you just going to stand under his foot and let him crush you?!"
"Got a better idea?" I asked.
"I'll go."
I shook my head.
"No way. You're new at this. You'll get killed!" I protested.
"Look, it's my fault the monster came after us, making it my responsibility." Bianca said with a voice full of determination.
She grabbed the little statue figurine from the ground and placed it in my hands.
"If anything happens, give that to Nico. Tell him... tell him I'm sorry. And tell (Y/N) I'm sorry too." And with those words, Bianca ran towards Talos's left foot.
"Bianca, no!" I yelled.
Bianca ran next to the giant's foot.
"What are you doing?!" Zoe yelled.
"Get it to raise his foot!" Bianca yelled back.
Zoe complied by shooting her arrows at Talos's face, making the metal monster shake his head.
"Hey Junk Boy! Down here!" I yelled, hoping to get his attention. It didn't.
So I uncapped Riptide and stabbed it's big toe. Talos let out a strange steaming sound before raising his huge foot to squash me. I ran like crazy to avoid getting squashed, but his foot came down a few inches behind me making me go up into the air and fall into a refrigerator. Once I regain my vision, I saw that Talos was just about to kill me when Grover played his pipes again, making the power lines wrap around Talos's legs.
The metal monster turned around and walked towards Grover, who looked completely tired for using too much magic. He couldn't run away.
"Grover!" Thalia and I both yelled as we ran towards him.
Talos raised his huge rusty sword to smash Grover once and for all but before he could strike, he froze.
His head started to twitch. Weird sounds were heard from inside his body. He moved his arms and legs as if he was in a weird dance competition. Then he started to punch himself in the face.
I knew exactly why Talos was acting this way. She was doing it.
"Go Bianca!" I yelled.
Zoe snapped her head towards me. Shock was written all over her face.
"She is inside?!" Zoe said horrified.
As the monster was malfunctioning, Thalia and I grabbed Grover from harm's way and ran after Zoe towards the highway.
"How will she get out?" Zoe yelled
Talos punched himself again making him drip his sword, then he staggered towards the power lines.
"Look out!"
His ankle snared the power lines and electricity shot up his entire body. Suddenly Talos's right hand fell off then his left arm started to come loose. He was breaking apart. Then he started running away from us.
"Wait!" Zoe yelled as she ran after the monster with us right behind her.
Then Talos completely came undone from the top to bottom. His head came off, then his chest crumbled, and his legs collapsed.
"Bianca!" We all yelled.
(Y/N)'s POV
I was just practicing my sword techniques with Luke. He keeps countering all my moves but I finally saw an opening for me to finish him off. Just as I was about to get the upper hand, an image flashed in my mind.
It was of the same girl with dark hair and olive skin.
But just as quickly as it came, the mental image of her vanished.
I dropped my practice sword and Luke looked at me with full concern in his face.
"(Y/N)? You ok?" He asked.
I looked at him and nodded.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." I lied. "I just spaced out I guess."
Luke didn't look satisfied with my answer but he didn't push it.
"If you say so. Just don't space out when you're actually in battle, unless you want to die."
"Sorry." I said sheepishly.
"I think that's enough training for today." Luke said.
I nodded before I walked out the room.
As I walked towards my room, I felt something terrible had happened to someone. It was a deep gut feeling. It has to be that girl. Something happened to her.
Then I remembered my dream about her. How she was in a junkyard in a desert with that huge monster.
'She couldn't have really died right? It was just a dream. It wasn't real.'
I entered my room and pulled out a piece of paper. The paper had some names that I could still remember or somewhat remember. Like Thalia, Grover, Annabeth, Will, and finally Percy.
I sat silently on my bed, just thinking about my dream I had about that girl. It seemed like hours until a name suddenly popped in my mind.
"Bianca."
3rd POV
Thalia, Grover, Zoe, and Percy searched for Bianca all night. They looked everywhere for her until the sun was seen over the horizon. Unfortunately, they found nothing.
Zoe just looked wordlessly at the wreckage before she sunk down to her feet, crying.
Thalia was stabbing Talos's face with her spear in anger, saying every colorful vocabulary word she knows.
Grover was in tears as well. He has seen how Bianca was like in Westover. She was a nice girl. She didn't deserve this.
Percy was just as upset as everyone else but he didn't want to give up.
"We'll keep searching. It's light now. We'll find her." He said.
"We won't." Grover said sadly. "This was supposed to happen."
"What are you talking about?" The son of Poseidon demanded.
"The prophecy. One shall be lost in the land without rain."
Now Percy, felt more guilt than ever. How can he be so stupid? Why did he let Bianca go instead of him?
The four of them were in the desert but Bianca di Angelo was gone...
(A/N):Omg I feel bad for doing this chapter. The tears were real. I'm so sorry for not updating soon. School is just so stressful. I honestly don't know when I'll update next but I'll do my best to update soon. And please remember that I DON'T OWN ANYTHING. Bye 👋🏼.
