A Kind of Warmth
Mason walks over to the lake and sits in the sunniest spot of it. He sits back and relaxed as he's had a long day with his siblings. After settling William and Odette's argument, it was quite tiresome. He smiled down at the lake, it glistening from the golden rays.
Mason hummed a song he was writing and made tiny critiques about it to himself. He then heard some sort of noise. He didn't know what it was for a moment, then he listened closer and realized it was crying. Mason stood up and followed the sound.
He walks past trees and bushes. The sound was slightly more audible. He moves one last bush out of the way and sees someone. "..uh... why are you out here..?" Mason asked. The person turns to face him and immediately wipes their eyes. It took Mason a second to realize it was Reza, one of the Ares kids. The Ares children can retaliate. They can attack. They can fuss. But crying is something you don't see everyday.
"I-I wasn't crying. Mind your own damn business." He stammered. "You were. Don't lie to my face. You don't have to tell me why though, but may I ask?" Mason inquired patiently. Reza paused. He glanced up at Mason. "...My dad visited me.. he said a lot of harsh stuff.." Reza explained. "Oh. I am so sorry." Mason hugged him. Reza winced.
"Oh- did he hit you too?- I could go ask William to go heal anything-" Mason backed up, checking Reza's arm for bruises or anything. "No. No. Just haven't had a hug since I last saw my mom. I appreciate it though." Reza smiled. "That's good." Mason said. A moment of silence between them. "Can I have another hug? You are really warm." Reza randomly asked. "Sure." Mason replies.
