Me against...Me?: Percy POV

As I delved into the darkness of the cave, I couldn't help but notice how cold the whole place was getting. I instantly knew that something was wrong with this place, and I knew that it had something to do with the Force.

The air stank of fresh earth, and water constantly dripped down the stone walls, the sound echoing through the empty air. Every time I made a step, I thought that I would activate some sort of trap along the way. As I looked ahead, I saw some sort of tunnel entrance, where mist completely surrounded it. Thinking that it was a way into another section of the cave, I walked forward and I was met with a very odd sight.

In the middle of the chamber sat some sort of chasm. As I looked down at the chasm, I could see the bottom clearly and I nearly fell forward as I felt extreme vertigo. The bottom was nearly over fifty stories below me, and the ground was littered with boulders that were sharpened to a deadly point. Along the edge of the chasm was a very narrow walk path, where it looked as if I had to press my back against the stone wall to go forward. I decided to walk sideways, pressing my back against the wall.

Ahead of me to my right was an old bridge of sorts, though it looked very unstable and highly unsafe to walk on. I was nearly halfway there when the section of the walk path I was crossing broke away and plummeted to the bottom of the chasm, where it smashed on impact.

I nervously gulped, knowing that I had to jump in order to get to the other side. Taking a deep breath, I lunged forwards and landed on the other side of the walk path, though I nearly slipped. Breathing heavily, I managed to get to the broken down bridge and inspected it. If my math was correct, and if my study on architectural carving was accurate, I would say that the bridge would last me two more trips to go across. I walked across it steadily, careful not to step on any broken parts, reaching the other end of the chasm.

As I let out a sigh of relief that I didn't know I was holding, I was about to continue onwards when the comm link on my arm buzzed and started producing static noises. I frowned, wondering how it was possible to gain a signal when I was deep down in the cave. Shrugging it off slightly, I pressed the answer switch on the comm.

"Hello?" I called.

"Percy, where the Hades are you?" Jason demanded, sounding very agitated.

"I'm in some sort of cave," I told him, describing my position. "The Force kind've guided me into this place. There's signs of some sort of encampment here, but I'm gonna continue investigating."

Jason sighed, which sounded weird on the comm link. "Percy, everyone is going crazy here. They're all worried sick about you - Bastilla won't even calm down."

I smiled, knowing that I had such great friends who cared very deeply about me. "Jason, I'm not gonna come back, until this is sorted out. Besides...there's something about this place. Something that's pulling me in."

I switched the comm link off, and continued going forward before I heard that snarling voice again.

Through victory, my chains are broken.

Knowing that I was close to finding out the source of that voice, I walked at a brisk pace into yet another chamber. This time, I knew right away that I was in deep trouble.

In this room, there was a tall dark grey platform right above me. It stood over five stories tall, and supporting it were three large pillars that were somehow hammered into the ground. Luminous lights shone down on the platform from way above me, and as I looked up I saw that above me and the huge platform was the largest concentrated cluster of Kyber crystals I have ever seen in my entire life. They were in a spectral show of light - emerald, sapphire, ruby, violet and blue illuminated the entire chamber.

I knew something was on that platform, and I was going to check it out.

Except...if it weren't for the nodded figure in front of me, then I would've.

"Welcome Perseus Jackson," it said in a inhuman voice that sounded almost metallic. "I've been waiting for you, for now the Force shall truly free me."
========

I stood warily in front of this guy, who continued to stand in the same spot as he seemed to gaze right into my eyes, even though I couldn't see his face. It was completely hidden by the shadows that his hood casted on his face, and it really unnerved me to no end. He was obviously the defence that Qui-Gon spoke about. Something that might stop me from finding the star map. Well, whatever the kriff it was, it was something that I had to get past.

Keeping my hands hovering above my lightsabers, I asked only one question. "Who and what are you?"

The hooded figure laughed...and I couldn't help but notice that he wore the same type of armour that I was currently wearing: light brown leather breastplate and gloves, black cotton underclothing, a red cotton strip that was attached to his leather utility belt and combat boots that were designed for speed and flexibility. The only major difference between our suits was the cloaks - mine was dark brown, while his was pure midnight black.

"I'm someone that you already know," he sneered smugly. "I have been following you after all, whispering those words in your head."

My eyes narrowed. "The Sith Code," I growled. "You dare to say those words in the presence of a Jedi?"

"A Jedi who has experienced the power of the Dark Side?" Hood man asked innocently. "Yeah, I dare. I'm just here to show you who you really are. What you continue to ignore constantly and only focus on the simple minded words of the Jedi, who made you lock away your true potential."

I activated my blue tinted lightsaber, levelling it at the cloaked menace's chest. "I am and always will be a Jedi Knight, a sworn member of our Order to protect the peace and bring balance to the Force. I will not accept the presence of the Dark Side - not now, not ever."

The man shook his head in amusement. "So misguided are your ways. Maybe I should show you what you might become if you let the Dark Side into your heart and soul."

And with that, he raised his head and I stared in horror at what I was seeing.

He was wearing my mask, the same Mandalorian mask that I wear in a battle to draw strength from. The same silver mask with the red patches underneath and above the visor, along with all the battle scars that scratched its surface. Behind the dark blue tinted visor, I could just make out two yellow orbs that glowed with power and mad rage.

"Now do you realise who I am, son of Poseidon?" he snarled at me.

I was shocked sat what I was seeing. This man in front of me was...was...

"You're me," I gasped, the air feeling more colder than before. "Darth Revan, my darker half."

He removed his mask, and I was left staring at my own face which was terrifying to look at.

I might as well be looking into a mirror, though his features were way more different. His entire skin was pale, as if he was suffering from a virus or sickness. His hair was going slightly grey at the edges. But his eyes were what made my skin crawl: they were bloodshot, and the irises were tinted a very nasty shade of yellow.

"That's right," Revan rasped, using my voice that somehow left me speechless. "I'm the dark counterpart that you abandoned; the image of your ultimate power, as you rule the universe with an iron fist; the side of you that would've existed if you hadn't joined the Jedi with your pathetic excuse of a friend, Jason Grace. Bah! A son of Jupiter...bah! When will everyone learn that a son of the Sky God is never supposed to be trusted?"

"Leave Jason out of this," I snapped. "I will not let you badger him like that. This is between you and me."

Revan scowled. "Indeed it is. As it turns out, it is your decision."

My grip on my lightsaber wavered slightly. "What do you mean?"

Revan smiled cruelly. "One hero shall find deep conflict within thyself, the Dark and the Light; he'll decide for himself. Do those words ring a bell to you, demigod?"

My eyes widened as I realised what he meant. He was forcing me to choose between the light and the dark side.

I shook my head. "I'm not in the mood for any games, Revan. I don't know how you know about the prophecy, but I won't let you make me choose."

Revan' eyes darkened. From his sleeve's, two lightsabers flew into his hands. They looked exactly the same design as the ones I have. However when he activated them, his right sided lightsaber was red, and his left sided lightsaber was purple. "Then you leave me no choice. Either you accept the dark side, or you will die."

He rushed forward, and I had just enough time to activate my second lightsaber just as his ploughed into mine. And there and then, I had found myself fighting my own inner dark part.

Now I knew why the Jedi had taught me to lock away this dark side of me. It was wild and untamed, and once left unchecked it would wreck havoc on anyone who got close to it. It cared only about power, and only about itself. I knew it would want to eradicate my the lightness in me, but I couldn't let that happen. I will not have my dark side take over.

However, how could I do that when my opponent was me? We were both evenly matched in duelling; we were evenly matched in Force abilities, and we fought at the same speed. Yet there was one huge difference between us: he was using his rage against me, and it was way to violent for my taste. And it was a violence to be reckoned with. Now I knew why they said that your own worst enemy was yourself. Because it's true - the enemy I was facing was living proof of that.

Revan swung at my legs, and I jumped up to avoid them, somersaulting over his head and swiping at his chest. He blocked easily and spun on the spot. His eyes bore into mine, and I knew straight away that he would kill me if I let my guard down. My mind raced at the speed of light speed, trying to come up with a way to end this. I was so distracted that I almost had my head slashed off by a burning red beam of energy, if I hadn't block the strike.

Five minutes later and we were still battling. I was getting slightly exhausted by the never ending speed of the battle, both my arms aching from the strain. Revan however was at full strength, and he seemed to never tire out. As I watched him fight, I knew straight away that he had a flaw in his battling style: he was using only the Djem So form, and he sometimes struck too hard. If I could switch my fighting style from Ataru to Soresu, then I might have a chance.

I managed to do that, though it didn't last long. He got inside one of my swings and kicked me backwards into the walls, which hurt as they weren't completely smooth. I looked up slightly to see Revan run at me with his two lightsabers raised over his head. I raised both my lightsabers and blocked his attack, where we found both ourselves locked in place, both of us struggling to over-power the other.

"You disappoint me, Perseus Jackson," Revan tainted, sneering at my struggling form. "You still align yourself with the Light, when you know full well that it's the Dark Side that is more powerful than you can possibly imagine. I wonder what your dear Annabeth would say if she saw you now? Would she think that you are strong or would she leave you for another person? Either way, you are still alone in this universe, and you always will be."

That was it. That was the one thing that set my emotions running wildly. No one - I repeat NO ONE - talks about my wife like that. I felt my eyes burn and I felt new found strength in my arms and legs. Pushing upwards from my kneeling position, I started to force his lightsabers back, which actually surprised him a little. Then, I turned my lightsabers in a semicircle and swiped his lightsabers from out of his hands, leaving him weaponless. I sent a hard and brutal kick into his groin area, making him clutch his privates in pain and making him fall to his knees.

I was breathing heavily, and I was clutching and gripping my lightsabers tightly. "If Annabeth saw me, she would say that I did the right thing to do - the good way to do. She would never leave my side; it's not in her nature to do so. And for your information, I am not alone - I have friends, whereas you don't. They would never leave me - they would always stick by my side, no matter what."

I raised both my lightsabers. "You're everything I hoped never to be. Like I said: I'm a Jedi, and I always will be a Jedi."

I slashed downwards, just as he looked up with a terrified expression (so that's what I looked like when I was in the position). Just as my lightsabers connected with his body and neck, he let out an inhuman shriek and disappeared in a puff of black smoke. I was left there, my blue lightsaber hovering in empty air, my eyes scanning everything wildly like I was an animal surveying his territory.

Instantly, all the coldness I felt earlier vanished and I took a deep breath that finally felt satisfying. I deactivated my two energy blades and and walked up the staircase leading to the raised platform. When I walked onto it, immediately feeling better than before.

In the centre was a star map pyramid, which I immediately activated. As it was opening up, I switched my comm link on and contacted Jason.

"Jason, I've found another star map," I informed. "I'll be out soon, so get the ship ready."
