My Boyfriend is a Mountain Hero: Annabeth
Piper, Hazel and I were still awake when the phone rang.
I was sitting in Percy's personal office in the house, where I continued to read the book that he wrote. I was seriously impressed by what he had written in the chapters he had created. He must've put a lot of hard work in making it. He obviously had a good memory because at the beginning of the book he talked about how he came to Camp Half-Blood and how I was the first person he woke up to.
My heart ached for him more than before now. He talked so much about me in the book, and I knew he talked about everyone else at Camp Half-Blood.
I didn't know what came over me but I started typing on the computer, right in his book. On each segment of what I typed in, I labelled it "From Annabeth's point of view", making look as if we were both writing it. I've seen these kind of books before - one of my most favourite books was called American Sniper written by Chris Kyle, who wrote this book with a few paragraphs written by his wife, Taya. Maybe I could write my own experiences in this book so it would look as if Percy wasn't the sole writer (I was sure he'd understand).
I wondered if he got back from the mountain and was safe and warm...I missed him deeply.
Just then, an email was appeared on the screen. It read: "Message from H2O Almighty", which made me frown in confusion. H2O was another way of saying water, but who on earth would call themselves that?
Out of curiousity, I opened up the email and I was rewarded with the screen going dark.
"What in the world?" I complained, but i quickly stopped protesting when the screen came back on.
An image had appeared on the screen and it showed a landscape of the Himmalaya's. The sheer beauty of it stole my breath - the colours of the sky was pink and orange and red (the colours of a sunset) and it glowed against the mountains of the Himmalaya's.
Then it slid over to another picture and this time it showed a picture of Jason sitting on a snowy ledge looking worse for wear but smiling still.
I got so excited that I screeched, "Piper! Hazel! Get up here! Now!"
The two girls came running in, confused. "What? What's wrong?" Piper asked.
I pointed at Percy's iMac. Piper looked at it and her face broke into a smile.
"They made it to the South Summit!" she said in an excited tone, crouching so she was looking at the screen at my head level.
"No way," Hazel murmmered. She stood upright and stared at the screen.
Photo after another, we saw how they made it up to the South Summit. In another photo, we saw the whole Olympus Explorers crew, with Aaron Bailey in the shot of the guy's who were selected to go up - it was evident that Frank, Aaron, Nico, Jason and Percy were selected to go up because the next photo showed them with their arms around each other. It then showed Percy ploughing his axe into the ice as he went upwards, with Aaron by his side.
The next photo was just truly amazing - it showed Percy and Jason and Nico laughing with the others as Aaron was making a jokeful face. It was the first time where I saw Percy drink from a beer bottle and his eyes just danced with a playful light. Reyna was looking at Nico and was smiling as well as Nico, who looked back at her. I thought I saw a spark between them.
Then the screen turned over and I saw that Percy's iMac had a FaceTime call. I answered and I was greeted by Reyna's smiling face, as well as Frank's and everyone else's faces. Hazel smiled, which made Frank smile even further.
"Hi, Annabeth and Piper. Oh, and Hazel," the praetor of Camp Jupiter said, almost laughing and her eyes were litterally moist from tears forming. "You won't believe what we heard from Percy and the other's."
"What?" I asked, frowning. What was she talking about? "What happened? What's going on?"
"Why don't you ask Percy yourself?" Frank said, a crazy smile on his face. He took the screen away from Reyna and placed it on a nearby table. I gave Piper a confused look, one that she shared with me and we both looked at the screen, where we were greeted by a very welcome sight.
"Hey, Wise Girl," Percy said, with his trademark smirk.
"Percy!" I exclaimed, frantically wrapping my bathrobe around my bed clothes. "God Almighty, what happened to you?"
He looked a right mess - his face was brusied all to hell; his left arm looked broken; his jacket was ripped and shredded and his hair was encrusted with ice and snow. He more or less looked as if he had been through a blizzard and slept through it the whole way.
"I had a long couple of day's," he admitted. "But it was definitely worth it all, because wait until you see where we are."
I frowned even deeper, confused as to why he was taking so long to answer. "Percy, where are you?"
In answer, he stepped out of the screen and I was rewarded with one of the most stunning views I have ever seen:
The sky was purple, pink, orange, yellow and blue with dark violet clouds dotting the sky. The screen showed a shot of a massive boulder with a smooth point on top. Along the base of the boulder, flags littered the ground from all different countries and states of America. I saw the flags that caught my attention the most - the flags symbolizing both respected camps for the demigods today: Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter. The snow was all different shades of colours from the light of the sky, and it made both Piper and I gasp at the beauty of the scene. The place looked so familiar from so many pictures I've seen on the Internet - it was the photo that looked suspsciously like...
"You're on the ACTUAL Summit of Everest?!" I screamed in shock. "What in the name of Athena are you doing on the Summit?!"
Percy started laughing at my stunned expression. In the background of the panaromic shot, I saw Jason and Nico cast smiles at me. I looked behind me and I saw Piper smile as she saw her boyfriend. Then, as I looked back at the computer, I was greeted by a sight that I thought I'd never see again: sitting next to the flag of his country, looking just as bad as Percy, was Aaron Bailey.
"You're alive?" I demanded. "How is that even possible?"
"Let's just say that Everest can be seriously brutal," the son of Hepheastus admitted. "We ran into him a couple of times - he does impersonate Edmund Hillary quite well. He saved me from the Icefall avalanche so he could use me as leverage against the others. That didn't work out well for him."
Percy came back into the screen, a crazy smile on his face. "So what do you think, Wise Girl? Top of the world, and right here..."
He turned the camera around and he zoomed in on the state flag of Virginia. My heart stopped as I looked at the flag - my home state.
Percy came back into the screen. "Nico had the flags of everyone's home states. Hazel and Piper - Nico and Jason have planted the flags of the state's you're from. Annabeth, I took the liberty of planting yours, so everyone knows that a part of you made it up here as well. So, ladies, welcome to the Summit of the world's tallest mountain, Mount Everest."
I was crying my eyes out when he said that - that I was still part of the team even after all these years. "Thank you...god's, I love you"
"I'll be back home soon," my seaweed brain told me. "I did promise you that, didn't I?"
I smiled at him. "You swore to the deepest part of your soul, that you would make it home with the guy's. I 'll hold you to it."
