Chapter 18.

Percy Jackson-

I wished I could have done more, but Umbrella Lady cancelled our detentions.  As much as she openly despised us, she knew she couldn't compete with us.  Harry, on the other hand, she knew she had all the power over, so we were free, but Harry was stuck with the She-Witch-a phrase that is really ironic-but, true nonetheless.

"Make your move," Thalia said in a monotone, glaring at me.

"Be prepared," I said darkly, and drew a card.

I smiled and hooted while I pumped my fists in the air.  "Yes!"

"No!" Thalia scowled, throwing down her cards and crossing her arms over her chest.

"I win!  Ha!"

"You stink." Thalia pouted, making Nico and Ginny burst into laughter.

"That's another point to me," I grinned.  "Soon, you'll have to do whatever I want."

"Keep dreaming, Fish Boy."

"Don't worry," I winked.  "I will."  I wouldn't.  I would be training to use my...power with Hecate.  Not that they needed to know that little tidbit at the moment.

"I'll turn the....tables on you!" Thalia said after a moment.

"I thought you were going to say tides for a second there." I grinned.

"I was, but I thought it would be way to fishy of a pun."

"Hardy har har.  What a comedian."

"I thought so."

"You also thought Apollo was hot.  What does that say for your judgement?"

"..." Thalia gaped at me.  I rendered her speechless.  I was feeling pretty proud of myself, because that sure doesn't happen often.

Nico and Ginny were practically...what's the term?  ROFLing?  I don't really keep track of that stuff.  Soon, Thalia and I joined the laughing fit, and we didn't stop until Hermione Granger came and looked at us weirdly.

"Uh...hello?" She said.

"Hey, Hermione." Ginny said, wiping tears from her eyes.  "You guys aren't going to get rid of me now, I haven't laughed this much in ages.  You lot are the most entertaining people I have ever met."

I chuckled.  "Well, we're glad to be of service...I think.  So, what's up, Hermione?  Do you want something?"

Hermione looked stumped for a moment.

"Or if you wanted to talk to Ginny, we'll get out of here.  I'm sure there's someplace in this castle we haven't explored.  Pretty unlikely, but nothing's impossible, right?"

Hermione stared at us for another moment.  "Actually, I wanted to talk to you guys.  I wanted to ask you guys if you'll join S.P.E.W?"

Thalia, Nico, and I looked at each other.  "We don't exactly know what that is," Nico said, and Thalia and I nodded in agreement.

Hermione explained about S.P.E.W. and the elves and slavery.  I frowned.

"I understand, but I can't help you." I said.  "Maybe it isn't right, but it's how they live.  It's all they know.  And as of now, they don't want to be freed.  If there if an elf that wants to be free, the he or she should be free.  If not, then I don't think anyone should meddle with it." I shrugged.  "I'm sorry."

Hermione looked disappointed, but not like it was unexpected.  "Did you seriously just apologize?" Hermione asked.  "You?"

I scratched my forehead.  "Uh, yeah.  Is there a problem with that?"

Hermione looked flustered.  "No!  It is just...all I meant was...in the house you...well..."

My cousins and I looked at her expectantly, and Hermione flushed.

"What Hermione means is that you were acting badass." Ginny smirked, and Hermione looked at her, shocked.

"Oh," Thalia, Nico and I laughed.  "Well, that's what it is, isn't?" I grinned.  "Acting?"

"You were acting?" Hermione asked, looking confused.

"Of course," I shrugged.  "My friends father is an actor, and she's given me a few pointers.  Plus, it's how you guys expected me to act.  Grandson of evil psycho, right?" I chuckled humorlessly.  "From the moment Dumberbore introduced me as that, you guys automatically assumed that I was a jerk.  Harry attacked me."  Hermione looked embarrassed.   "Before even trying to get to know me, I had a label.  A bad one.  I didn't even get the chance to be myself because all of you already decided for me."

Hermione had the decency to look sorry, so I continued with the real reason.  "And I really love messing with people." My cousins, Ginny and I burst into laughter again.

"I'm sorry." Hermione said.  "I know it is an empty word, but I am."

I nodded.  "Well, to be fair, sometimes I wasn't acting or messing with you guys.  No, wait, I was always messing with everyone.  What I mean is, sometimes I really did get really angry that I wasn't even acting.  When Harry attacked me physically.  Does shooting a spell at someone even count as that?  And when Sirius attacked me verbally.  Just because I love messing with people doesn't mean I have to take that."  Hermione nodded and frowned.

"So, anyway.  Back to the exploring thing.  That actually sounds appealing.  You in?" I asked my friends.

"What do you think?" Nico grinned.

"A, duh." Thalia rolled her eyes.

"Let's do it!" Ginny said.

Hermione didn't say anything.

"You don't want to?" I asked Hermione.

Hermione looked shocked that she was being included.  "I didn't know you were asking me." She said shyly.

"That would be mean, and even though I constantly mess with everyone's head, I'm not a mean person."

"Yeah, mean is the one thing he isn't." Nico laughed.  "Idiot would be a better word."

"Oblivious." Thalia added.

"Impulsive," Ginny grinned.

"Leo is way more impulsive than me!" I protested.

"Yeah, yeah." Thalia waved my words away.  "So you get the point.  He's a lot of things."

"Gee, thanks you guys.  And to think, I call you my friends."

"Annabeth would agree with every word we said." Nico smirked.

I opened my mouth, and then I closed it again.

"Annabeth?" Hermione said, giggling.

"His girlfriend.  She is a genius, and happens to be my best friend." Thalia said smugly.

I crossed my arms over my chest.  "I hate you all."

Ginny pinched my cheek and I waved her hand away.  "You love us," She grinned cheekily.

"You know what, I'm officially out of this conversation, so I'm going to go explore the hidden depths of this castle.  You can come with me as long as all of you shut up." I pouted.

Hermione looked taken aback, but everyone else just laughed while I pouted.

...

After we explored for about an hour, we made our way back to the Common Room.  Hermione wasn't close enough to tell her our secrets, and she would probably never get as close to us as Ginny, but she got close enough that she could call us her friends.  She couldn't believe it when we found a secret room full of magical mirrors.  She was so amazed, she wouldn't stop talking about how we were probably the first people who ever discovered it.

I saw Neville once, but he didn't see me and I opted to pretend I didn't see him.  I mean, I wasn't going to have nightmares anymore, so there was no reason to approach him.  But, still.  I had a feeling we'd be seeing him sooner or later.  I didn't know how I felt about that.  I guessed that I would just do what I always do-Improvise and make rash decisions but end up kicking podex in the end.  That's always worked for me before.

...

"This isn't going," I panted, "anywhere." I wiped some sweat off my brow.  My muscles aches, my joints burned, and my head felt too heavy for my body.

"Keep trying," Hecate insisted.

"You haven't even told me how to channel this power!" I protested.

"You have to figure it out for yourself," Hecate said, crossing her arms over her chest.  "It's how it works."

"Yeah, well, I'm not getting anywhere like this.  At least give me a clue."

"Hmmm," Hecate mused.  "I don't think so."

"Come on!" I said, my eyes budging.

"Fine," Hecate said.  "Let's see...would it be too cliche if I told you to dig deep?"

I groaned and face palmed, but I decided that what she said was better than nothing.  I closed my eyes, breathed in deeply and ignored my pain and exhaustion.

I reached deep inside, to the place I felt the tug when I used my water abilities.  I was confused when I found a small reserve of the power I was keeping under wraps.  My fists tightened until my knuckles were white.  I focused on pushing it out instead of keeping it in.

I pushed at it until I felt a jolt, like Thalia had electrocuted me.  My body shook, and I opened my eyes.  Then, I almost fell backwards. My entire body was surrounded by a pulsing blueish green light.  It wasn't just a light, though.  I could feel the power coursing through it, through my veins and my whole being.

"Excellent," Hecate said with a smug like on her face.  "See!  What I said did help!"

"This is amazing," I said, but I was having trouble holding it.  The power was building, and I couldn't contain it for much longer.  My body shook again, but this time from the strain.  I didn't know what to do with it.  I groaned, and yelled, "What do I do with it?"

"Expel it from your body.  You have to push it all of the way out, no just there.  Now that the power is accessible to you, you need to direct it.  You have to release it all around you."

My arms shook, but I pushed them all of the way out, feeling the power follow my movements.  My my arms extended all of the way, I felt another jolt as the power left my completely and released all around me in a wave that shook the room.

"Whoa," I said, and fell to my knees, my body finally giving up.

"You did well, child." Hecate said fondly. "Now you may go, and my promise will be kept.  A completely dreamless sleep."

"Does that mean no demigod dreams?" I asked weakly.

"Well, no." Hecate grimaced.  "I know I said all dreams, but those...well, you need those.  Especially now.  But all of the others...the real nightmares, and even the other dreams that have no relevance to anything...those all go."

I nodded, but couldn't bring myself to say anything else.  I was completely drained.  My energy was completely gone.  Before she sent me back, I asked one more question.

"What is it?" I asked her slowly.

She didn't respond.  She just gave me a secret smirk, and raised her hand to my head.  And then everything was black.

Not the bad kind, the good kind. The blackness, the nothingness that I welcomed.  That I embraced.

And I surrendered to my exhaustion, and succumbed to the blackness.

So....in the end, all I'm trying to say is he fell asleep.  Hi, guys.  What's doing?  Well, I just finished another chapter, so that good.

Please vote and comment.  It means a lot when I see the votes, and I read every comment, so please do that.

Let me see here, what else do I want to say?  Oh!  Hermione isn't going to be best friends with them, but she likes them, and they can count her as another friend now, so that cool.  The room the discovered will be coming back sooner or later, so watch for that.

I think the next chapter will involve the DA.  I know I'm not really following the book, but I think the direction it's being written is fine for now.

Do you guys like Disney movies?  If so, what's your favorite.  I got to admit, I'm a sucker for the Lion Kings, Aladdins, Little Mermaids, Mulan, Dumbo, Bambi, and the Jungle Books.  :)  I hate that Hercules movies for many reasons, though.  One is because his name is Heracles.  Hera is certianly NOT his mother.  He definitely DOES NOT ride Pegasus.  That is NOT how Pegasus was born...and basically the entire thing was a huge insult to Greek Mythology.

Enough with my rant.  Anyways, so I'll hopefully update soon, and if you have any Percy Jackson/Harry Potter fan friends on Wattpad, please recommend this to them.  Spread it around, spread the love! You know how it is.
