Chapter Twelve
I woke up to find myself in a bed. This may sound stupid, but I panicked, until I saw the camera in the corner. It had the SHIELD insignia on the lens, and I was soothed that I had only been taken by my new workplace. I waited for a few more minutes, and then Pirate walked in once more. "How did you escape? And how did you heal so fast with your injuries?" Straight down to business, I sighed. "I walked out, I swam." Pirate's eyes narrowed. "What are you?" I smirked. "I'm Percy, the mutant." He trained a gun on my face. "Who do you work for?" I looked dead-straight into his eyes. "You." He fired the bullet, I caught it with the water molecules in the air. "Let me rephrase that. I want to work for you, Mr. Pirate. I will become your most skilled and most secret agent. Your right hand assassin, if you may. I will be the ace in your deck of cards. Will you accept?" He lowered his gun. "How do I know this is not a trick?" I smiled. "Simple. You can kill me."
Third POV
Over the next few months, Fury put Percy to the test. Percy went on mission after mission, each getting harder than the last. Percy's went everywhere, USA, Canada, Rome, Alaska, Columbia, Australia. To Nick's disappointment, Percy never failed. He always finished the mission by the deadline, left no trance of anyone being there, and did exactly as orders told him to. Of course, he added his own little touch every now and then, but only when it was needed. Only after Percy's fiftieth mission, did Fury start to realize what a great agent Percy was. A truly amazing trump card. Percy was no longer that fun-loving teen he was before the wars, and he no longer was the depressed warrior after, no, now, he was a trained assassin that didn't let anyone see his true feelings. He was no longer innocent. He had killed people, some of the most evil, but that doesn't matter. He no longer hesitates to kill. He was the man that could fool even top spies that he wasn't there, or that he was innocent. He played with everyone, except Fury. He kept his word. Fury shaped Percy until he was only Siren. The very thing that pulled you to your death, many not even knowing their impending doom. Occasionally, rumors would spread of a deadly assassin that was more skilled than anyone had ever seen, but Fury quickly shut down the whispers. He couldn't, wouldn't, let anyone know about his card, his ace of spades, his Percy. Finally, six months after the start of Siren's career, he told Fury of his real identity as a son of Poseidon. Before this though, Percy made sure to swear Fury to an oath of secrecy, in the Styx's name. Fury was hurt and angry that he had been lied to, but understood his reasons, and agreed to continue with him as a mutant. Nick needed a secret weapon, and he needed his Percy, he couldn't give him up because of a careless action, so he kept Percy's file only on paper and only on one copy in a safe, in his office. He didn't know just how much this kept Percy's secret, a secret.
Clint's POV
~A Year After He Saw Percy~
Why....? Where is he! Percy isn't on file, he's not in the heli-carrier, he's not in any of the criminal prison places. I haves seen his beautiful face in a year! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?! I pushed my face into one of my pillows as I internally screamed. I had checked with Thor, I had Tony hack into SHIELD for any information, I asked the rest of the Avengers, all of the agents at SHIELD, I even asked Fury. I think he was lying though..... I laid there for a few more seconds before I decided to do what I had done these past months whenever I thought of my lost soulmate. I climbed in the vents, waiting for me to find something to interest me, whether it be pranking, spying, or blackmail. I kept silently for a while, and then I swear I saw the tip of a shoe disappear around the corner of the shaft. Just as I was about to sprint-crawl down the vent, I heard Steve talking to himself about a meeting. I turned around and sat at the metal grate, waiting for the information to come rolling to me. "Fury says he has an important thing to tell us, what would it be.....? Another terrorist? Maybe..... a newly crowned villain? Hmmmmm. JARVIS, tell the Avengers to go to the conference room." I slowly started to sneak away. "As you wish, Sir." I quickly whispered to JARVIS that I already knew, and luckily, he heard me, because he whispered back an 'Alright, Sir.' I mentally rolled my eyes and followed my keen ears to the conference room, which Thor was making too much noise in. "Director Fury, what do you have for us this fine day?" Thor had been hit hard when Percy was taken and not released. We had talked about it several times since then. I quietly swung out of the vents and into my seat, not as gracefully as I'd wish, but still sorta graceful. Steve came marching in as Fury have his reply. "I have finally found your new teammate. The council believes that we need to add something more to the team, so that the evil does not figure us out. Even though we just finished a war, we need to stay on full alert. Bruce, where is Stark?" During his little speech, Natasha appeared in the chair next to me and Bruce walked through the door. "I saw him in his lab. He's working on his suit again." Fury sighed and shook his head, I was slightly amused. Fury had learned to live with Tony's 'lifestyle'. We waited for a few minutes and when Fury was about to tell JARVIS to bring Tony up, the man himself came running in behind a little puppy holding a special-looking wrench. "Give that back you adorable dog!" Tony cornered the poor pup in the room, and slowly advanced. We all saw the angry gleam in his eyes, and we tried to hold our laughter. When Tony was a few steps away from the dog, it jumped up, dropped the wrench on his head and landed gracefully on the table next to Fury. Natasha and I gave a small smile while the rest were looking, shocked, at Tony and the dog. The big shocker was when Nick gently pet the cute pup. "I've seen it all. God, I may now die in peace." Steve clamped his hands together and bowed his head. Bruce and Thor started chuckling as Tony looked confused and Natasha and I just looked at the dog in interest. "Director. I did not know you had a dog?" Natasha's question was more of a statement, but the question still stood. "It's not mine. I would never want a pesky dog, nor would I have time for one. Now, as Stark missed. You are getting a new teammate. He will tell you his identity of he wishes, but here is his file. He will be arriving shortly." Nick threw his file on the table and I quickly tried to grab it, but Natasha got it first. Much to my annoyance, she passed it the opposite way. Once I got it, everyone but Thor (who's was happy) had a suspicious and curious look on their face. I quickly read through the file and failed to conceal my happiness at realizing who it was. Percy! My soulmate is back! I failed to remember what else it said in the description while I nearly giggled with joy. Nearly. For if I did that, I'd loose major respect points with the team. "So is this the guy we were asked to get a year ago?" I had to ask Fury, just to make sure. "Yes. He goes by the name of Siren, though. He is oddly attached to the name." All of a sudden the black ball of fur raced out of the room, but not after giving me a solid wolf glare. Fury nodded, not at all disturbed by this. "That is normal for it to do." Bruce sighed, he probably has a soft spot for dogs. Just as Bruce was about to say something, the conference room door flew open, but no one was there. We watched as I man came rolling in on one of Fury's chairs, the dog sitting in his lap. He was petting it like an evil man would in the movies. "Bonjour."
