Chapter 4: strange people

Percy flopped down onto the bean bag in the room. He was eleven and tired. Not that you could blame him. He had just finished training not that long ago. Adam passed him a cup of water, which didn't even last a minute in his hands.

"Thanks, man," the young prince told him.

"Anytime. Also, I hope you know you can't show up out of nowhere anymore. Or at least for the summer." Adam told him. Percy shot up.

"What! But this is our best hangout spot!"

"It's a basement with an old tv and gaming set." Adam deadpanned.

"An amazing tv and gaming set!" Percy protested.

"Look, it's only for the summer, man. I'm going to some camp for the summer and can't have you popping up out of nowhere."

"But it's so fun spooking you." The prince of the dead gave a smirk that made Adam shiver slightly.

"Speaking of. Stop doing that!"

"Keep it down, you guys," Adam's aunt yelled from upstairs.

"Yes, ma'am!" The two called back in unison.

"Anyway, it's just three months. You can go that long without me. Just train more or something." Adam suggested.

"Dude outside of sleeping and eating, you are the only thing keeping me from training twenty-four-seven," Percy told him.

"Wow, that is sad, man."

"Tell me about it. But do you have to go to that summer camp?"

"Yes, Perce. You know how my aunt gets when I don't do what she asks me to."

"But why going to some stupid camp for the summer when you can just hang out with me all day?" Percy smiled.

"Because then I'd have gone a step below an introvert. We'd become Jeremy and Michael from be more chill."

"I still don't see the problem," Adam chuckled and tossed Percy the game controller.

"Let's just play some power punchers before you've got to leave dude." And so they did. They played the game for a good long while before Percy had to go home. They clapped their hands together and gave it a small shake before Percy left through a shadow.

☠️☠️☠️

It's been a few months, and Percy was bored. Like really really bored. Adam has practically gone entirely off the grid, and he had nothing better to do than to lie around. On occasion, he would help Zoi with a hunt or two until he went off the grid too. It was pretty strange.

He missed being able to play games in Adam's basement because they were so old that they could play them with no worries. And it's not like he could play them here in the underworld. They just got connected to the internet, and his dad was still annoyed in losing that battle. Hades would kill him for adding gaming to it right now.

So he had nothing to do. Or at least he didn't until he could sense life entering the underworld. He shot up and out of bed. Sure on occasion, someone who died recently had some life with them still, but this was different. It was nothing but life. He quickly ran into some shadows with a smile on his face.

☠️☠️☠️

When he came out, he found himself near Cerberus, his dad's three-headed dog who was a freaking sweetheart. Then he saw them. Just looking at them, he knew they were demigods. They were horrible at blending in with the dead, unlike the young prince who could even trick the furies from time to time. And with that, a smirk came to his face.

Percy shadow traveled behind him and made himself practically radiate death. He could see some sweat roll down one kid's face. He held back a chuckle and cleared his throat. Shakily the three kids turned to him. He had a dark smirk that sent shivers up their spine.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here? The living in the home of the dead?" He had to try his best not to burst out laughing. One kid who was a satyr looked like he was either going to pass out or grovel before him. The only girl in the group looked nervous. She had blonde curly hair and grey eyes. She had this calculated look aimed at him, almost trying to figure out who he was. He didn't get a chance to look at the third and final member of their little group before a sword flew at him.

He acted quick and let his body he encased be shadow, making it seem like the sword just went through him as it would a ghost. This, of course, used up a good bit of energy.

"Take us to your king o-or this time I won't miss!" The third person said. When Percy looked at him, he felt sudden anger boiling through his blood. This kid had messy black hair and the same sea-green eyes as a particular godly scum.

"I will do no such thing as sea scum!" Percy yelled at the boy. He was his age as well. That stupid sea god broke his oath not once but twice! That pathetic fool! The other two flinched slightly and started to try to get said sea scum to knock it off. The satyr turned to the dark prince and practically bowed to him.

"We are so so sorry for his behavior." The half-goat said.

"As you should! You are lucky that he hasn't been struck down for entering this place! Do you not know who rules over this place!" Percy told the goat his words so obviously filled with anger and hate.

"Of course we do! We're trying to get your king to give back the lightning bolt he stole!" The son of the sea god spoke up. Rage filled the prince more and more.

"Joshua, shut it!" The girl told the boy. Joshua didn't seem to hear her.

"He was foolish to take it in the first place. I mean, Zeus would just beat him up until Hades gave the bolt up!" This Joshua laughed at his statement. Percy grabbed the boy by his neck and lifted him.

"Don't you dare speak of him like that! He is no thief, and he is a thousand times stronger than that arrogant god! Don't forget who is the eldest brother, boy!" Percy yelled at the demigod. Joshua paled and nodded.

"Good. If I ever see you here again sea scum, it will be too soon." He tossed the boy next to his group. "Have fun with father, boy."

And with that, he was gone. What strange people they were.
