Prologue
It was snowing hard as a dark figure shuffled through the trees. It was hard to tell if the character was limping or if the snow was slowing it down.
"Fuck." The figure muttered as it stepped into the light. The character was small, maybe around the height of a child.
The figure wore a black cloak with a mask. The mask covered the figure's face, but the bottom right side of the mask was missing, and cracks were seen where the right eye was. The wind blew the hood off as the figure struggled to stay on its feet. The character was using a branch that it found a while back to walk.
The branch suddenly broke with the upper half smacking the mask off the figure as it fell to the ground. The figure groaned in pain as it laid in the cold snow. It flipped onto its back.
There laid a boy about the age of seven. He had black hair and sea-green eyes. Under his cloak was a tattered red shirt with a pair of shorts covered in snow. His right leg was black and blue.
He sat up and looked for his mask. When he found it, he stood up and tried his best to get to it. He fell once more and was tempted just to lay there.
No, he had come all this way, and he was not about to let this stop him. He needed to get up. He needed to keep moving. He needed to live.
His breathing became rough as he continued to try and walk only to fail miserably. Eventually, he just crawled to his mace before grabbing it. He looked on the inside to see the initials J.P.
He rolled onto his back. His whole body felt numb. He exhaled tiredly. He could see his breath fly up into the air. Why did he choose to go to Maine of all places? It was freezing out here.
Snow landed on his tired body, and he slowly closed his eyes, ready for death to overcome him.
He passed out just as a man in a black suit walked to where he was.
"Perseus Jackson. It is not your time. You must live!" The man sighed. "Your life was not supposed to come to this. I'm sorry, Perseus."
The man picked up the child, now known as Perseus. The man picked up this child's mask and disappeared as the snow picked up.
