Side Character 6 Backstory

Amara Castellan, named for the deep blue of the ocean she felt so connected to, was a puzzle wrapped in an enigma. At thirteen, she carried a quiet strength and an ever-present yearning for something more. Her mother, May, was always lost in memories of Luke, her half-brother who had died tragically, leaving Amara with a constant undercurrent of abandonment that gnawed at her.

Born under the watchful gaze of Poseidon, god of the sea, Amara possessed an uncanny ability to understand the rhythm of the waves, the whispers of the currents. Yet, venturing deep into the ocean, a place that should have felt like home, triggered a primal fear of being swallowed by the vastness, alone and forgotten. This fear mirrored the constant dread of abandonment that May's Luke-centric conversations instilled in her. Luke severed his own head because of that man! She'd repeat, over, and over, and over again. Like a broken record, that just wouldn't stop playing.

One stormy night, while seeking shelter in an abandoned lighthouse, a strange vision unfolded before Amara. Monstrous creatures emerged from the churning sea, drawn to her unique connection to the ocean. Panic threatened to overwhelm her, but before she could defend herself, a hand reached out, pulling her into a swirling vortex of light. When she opened her eyes again, she stood bathed in the golden sunlight of Camp Half-Blood.
