One-Shot: Father's Day Special

He loved his daughter.

Strong, like her mother, yet just as mischevious as he was. And the second he looked into her eyes when he got to hold her for the first time, he fell in love.

Her mother was obviously the favorite, though, and she was just as in love with their daughter as he was. Whenever her mother got home from a long day at work, their child would be the one to greet her the second she stepped through the door. All his wife needed was to see the smile on her little girl's face to forget the hard day at the police force.

The first Father's day gift he received from his daughter was when she was five years old. It was a little card decorated with his daughter's favorite red crayon. On the inside, in chicken-scratch handwriting, he could make out, "I love you daddy," on the page.

She was very shy about giving him the card. She had woken up early to sneak into his bedroom and leave it on his nightstand. When he had woken up and finished deciphering the words, he came into her room, where she was hiding, and gave her a long hug. She squealed and fought, but he didn't let go. After a while, she gave up, hugging him back.

She reminded him so much of her mother.

It was a Sunday, so his wife didn't have work. They all got to eat food together as a family that day.

At the end of the day, lying in bed with his wife, she spoke up. "Happy Father's day, Chris." A blush spread on her cheeks as she added gruffly, "I love you."

Pleased, he kissed the top of her head and replied, "I love you, too, Clarisse," before falling asleep.

I bet you thought it was going to be a Percabeth, didn't you? I don't think I've ever mentioned this before, but I love Chrisse. So. Cute. Tell all of your dads happy Father's day, and have fun!
