AU: Switched

Ok, so I read this idea from Good_Night_Lock when I finally got around to reading her #PleaseWriteThisFanfic thing. I really liked imagining this idea and I thought it would be fun to write, so here we go.

The idea is, an AU where Rachel was the reckless daughter of Poseiden, and Percy was the art-loving mortal. Could be Perachel, could have jealous Annabeth thrown into the mix.

"Percy!"

Percy looked up from the sketchbook and turned to face Annabeth. "Yeah? What do you need?"

"Can you help me with this building? I can't seem to get the right perspective on it." Annabeth bit her lip as she erased the drawing yet again in the last half hour that they had been working in the library.

"Didn't I already show you perspectives? Okay, I'll do it right after I finish with this."

"Well, I'm sorry that we can't all be art prodigies and don't learn perspective within the first time we draw it," Annabeth mumbled underneath her breath.

"I heard that," he replied, not even looking up.

"What are you drawing anyway?" Annabeth leaned over and tried to peek, but Percy pulled it away, a blush spreading on his cheeks.

"Hey! Don't touch it! It was this assignment on the ideal girlfriend/boyfriend. It's personal."

"Oh, now I really want to see it." Annabeth snached at the notebook. Percy tried to dodge once again, but he was no match against her demigod reflexes. She easily took it from his grip and turned the page to see... red hair and sea green eyes. Annabeth froze. "You drew Rachel?"

"Anna-" Percy scrambled for an excuse, but Annabeth had already thrown his notebook down and ran away.
__________

Annabeth desperately tried not to cry as she ran.

Of course Percy was attracted to Rachel. What guy wouldn't be? She was gorgeous. Her fiery red hair showed her passion, and her eyes sparkled like the sea she was born of. She was definitely better looking than Annabeth, with her lifeless gray eyes and the curly blonde monstrosity that she called her hair.

Rachel was also so much more brave. She had saved the world so many times. Sure, Annabeth was there, too, but only as a side character.

Even still, Percy met Rachel first. Annabeth had gotten closer to him because they went to the same private school for prodigies (one that Rachel's extreme ADHD and terrible track record did not allow for her to enroll in), but Percy still knew Rachel longer. It would make sense that Percy would start to feel that way about Rachel.

However, it still stung to think that Percy thought of Rachel as his ideal girlfriend.

Annabeth stopped running and collapsed onto a nearby park bench, panting. Percy eventually caught up to her and stood in front of her, hands on his knees, catching his breath.

"Oh gods... you need to give me a better warning if you're gonna run away like that again... I might be on track, but your demigod training is no joke!"

Annabeth gave a short snort of amusement.

Percy looked into her eyes, and his face turned solomn. "Look, Annabeth, yes, I did draw a picture of Rachel, but that was a different assignment. It was to try to draw someone- anyone that you knew. I changed the page when you didn't notice. Here's the real drawing that I was working on for this assignment." He pulled out his notebook and flipped to a different page (one that was distictively after the Rachel drawing) that had a picture of a skinny, caucasion, blonde-haired, grey-eyed, teenage girl. She was smiling- the kind of smile that simply glowed of happiness. She looked like Annabeth.

Then she realized. She was Annabeth.

"So, Annabeth? What do you think? Do you think it looks like you?"

Annabeth was stunned. "I think that it is fantastic, but you got one thing wrong."

His eyes widened and his eyebrows scrunched up in that cute way that they did when he's worried as he looked over the drawing. "What's wrong?"

"You made me way too pretty."

Yeah, yeah, technically Rachel isn't physically in the story, but I couldn't think of anything with that scenario, so this happened. Honestly, I just love the idea of artsy Percy.

Give me a break, I mean I'm writing this at half-past midnight and I don't think I can make myself write anything non-Percabeth, so like it or lose it, people.

Kinda annoyed, really tired, possibly regetting this in the morning,

Looking at this again, I do regret this. This story is terrible! Maybe I'll try rewriting this...
