AU: Island
She stayed the same. Never aging, never changing, with no contact with the outside world.
Sometimes, boys would visit. All of them were brave and heroic, and when they visited, she fell in love with each one of them. Unfortunately, all of them had important things to do and left her behind on her island. Even though they promised to come back to her, they never came back, and she'd stopped hoping.
Others would visit, too. She didn't fall in love with them, (and to tell the truth, they were a little annoying) but they kept her company and informed her of what was happening off of the island.
One day, a boy came to visit, but he was different from the others. He wasn't strong, brave or heroic-looking, but instead looked scrawny and elf-like. He crashed in unannounced, like most of the boys, but he broke her favorite dining table during lunch, which rankled her.
Like the others, he stayed for a while, trying to figure out how to leave, and somehow making his way into her heart.
Then, like the others, the raft came. Then, like the others, he left. He'd promised her that he would come back, though, so she waited... and waited... and waited. She gradually began to lose the hope that she would ever see him again.
And then he came back. His smile shone bright on the creature he rode as he came closer and closer to her.
"Leo!" she cried out in surprise as his dragon landed and he got off.
His smile immediately made all the waiting worth it.
"I told you I'd come back, didn't I, Sunshine?"
"Of course I did, idiot, but I didn't think you'd make me wait so long," she replied, but despite her words, she didn't keep the smile off of her face.
"I didn't make you wait that long, did I?" he asked as he nervously scratched the back of his neck, "It's only been like a month off the island, but I don't know how time feels like here..."
She playfully narrowed her eyes. "A month? What made you think that I would be able to stand more than a day without you?"
Leo blinked. "Wh-what?"
She rolled her eyes. "You heard me, you dummy, I missed you."
His grin split his face, and he practically glowed with happiness.
"Well, let's get out of here!" He stretched his hand, and she took it without hesitation.

Finally, after three years in the hospital, Calypso Nightshade woke from her coma. As if magic, the boy beside her woke up at the same time.
Her visitors, who often came to talk about recent events, got out of their seats and rushed forward. One of her visitors, the most favored among them all by Calypso, and the father of the boy lying next to her, didn't move, but stayed in his chair and cried tears of joy.
Friends of Leo's crowded around his bed with multiple different expressions: worry, fear, anger, relief, and joy.
Calypso blearily blinked her previously closed eyes and croaked, "Leo?"
Leo slowly sat up and replied, "I'm here, Sunshine."
Then Calypso smiled and said," I'd kiss you, but I don't know how long it's been since I've brushed my teeth."
_____
A month later, Leo and Calypso were released from the hospital. Calypso found out how Leo got onto her island while they were staying in the hospital on bedrest.
"So you were in a coma, and that's how you made it to my island?"
"Yep. I promised to come back, so after I helped everyone free Percy and Annabeth from Percy's evil kidnapping grandparents, I did as much crazy stuff as I could to get into another coma."
Calypso laughed. "I think that first coma damaged your brain, and the second one permanently impaired you."
"Hey!"
She smiled. "Thank you. I'm finally free from my island."
