Imaginary Friends
"Okay, you're the Wise Girl."
"Here? ... Here?"
"There?"
"You're right it's perfect! The perfect castle!"
"Don't be a meanie Thalia."
"The brat is talking to his wall again. Go tell your kid to shut up, I can't hear the game," Gabe grunts with a swig from his bottle.
Sally Jackson didn't respond as she followed her son's voice from the kitchen and to his room. "Percy?" She asks with a knock.
"Come in!" He calls back.
Sally opens the door to see her six and a half year old son giggling as he sits on the floor in front of an impressive block tower.
"Who are you talking to sweetie?" She asks him with a smile.
"My friends!" Percy laughs.
"You're friends?" Sally asked her smile wavering slightly.
"Uhuh," He nods. "That's Annabeth, Nico, Hazel, Leo, Piper, Frank- Thalia! Don't hit Jason! It's not nice!"
Sally watches as Percy scolds "Thalia" she bends down to ruffle his hair. "Okay you play with your friends. Just a little bit quieter. And make sure they get home for dinner okay?"
"Okay!"

"I assure you Mrs. Jackson, It's perfectly normal for children to have imaginary friends," Dr. Chiron Brunner said. "He's an only child so he may be a bit lonely. Also it may begin when a child goes through a big transition. So, with no one his own age around to talk to and play with he created his own person- well people. It's not uncommon. I had a one- a talking wolf named Lupa. While it may sound strange, I'm sure you had one whether you remember it or not."
Sally nodded and smiled. "Thank you so much Dr. Brunner."
"Anytime, Mrs. Jackson. Perhaps... one day you could come back and we could speak of the make up covered bruise on your chin."
"Thank you Dr. Brunner," Sally repeated as she stood up and left the room.

Sally believed Dr. Brunner, she really did but as time continued she grew more and more worried.
Percy was old enough to start picking up on his mother's worry so he did his best not to talk about his friends with her.
But they were always there as years passed.
"Do you not like us anymore?" Nico frowned from his spot where he sat against the wall.
"What would make you say that?" Percy whispered back.
"You rarely talk to us anymore," Jason adds as he continues to spin round and round in the desk chair.
"You know what Gabe thinks about you guys..."
"You're sixteen Perce. Who gives a **** what he thinks?" Piper says.
"Go punch the ************ in the face," Thalia adds as Piper nods.
"Language," Hazel mutters.
"Yeah, how about I don't do that, but thanks anyway," Percy answers.
"It's not what Gabe thinks," Annabeth says as she circles an incorrect answer on Percy's homework. "Just-
"Keep your hands to yourself Zhang," Nico cuts in not even looking to where Frank sits with Hazel at his side. Frank only blushes and pretends to disappear.
Annabeth continues. "Just because you don't say it out loud doesn't mean we are oblivious."
Percy sighs. "I guess... Everyone at school thinks I'm weird as it is. I can't help but think-"
"That if you didn't have us, you would have friends at school."
"Not that harshly. I-I want both."
"Whew that's good cause I got nowhere else to go. Plus your mom's cooking is the Greek Fire," Leo comments taking a bite of his cookie.
"No fire," Frank says quickly. "Not after what happened last time."
"It was an accident! And I just burned your stick a bit what's so important about it?"
Frank doesn't answer.
"You can have both," Jason says bringing things back on topic. "Just we don't want to be forgotten is all."
"How could I ever forget all you guys?" Percy smiles. "You're here 24/7 and you're my best and only friends."
"Group hug!" Hazel declares and everyone complies.
Percy smiles as he his surrounded by his friends.
"Freak."
Percy jumps back to where Gabe stands in the door.
"I don't want a freak living in my house."
"S-sorry I was just um..." Percy stutters unsure of what else to do.
"I don't want a freak living in my house," Gabe repeats.
"Lucky you this is an apartment then," Thalia says glaring at the man despite knowing she won't be heard. Though strangely she was.
Gave whirled around in the direction of her voice but saw no one there.
"Whoa," Leo says. "That's new..."
Gabe jumps and turns to see no one.
Nico slowly creeps up behind the man and whispers in his ear "Boo."
Gabe screams and tries to back against the wall when he trips over a leg.
"Nice Hazel," Piper nods. "Now it's time to teach this ****** a lesson."
"Oh I wish I had my dagger," Annabeth complains.
"Grab his arms Zhang! Jase his feet!" Thalia orders and the two boys do as their told.
Gabe shouts again as he feels hands on him. The voices keep talking deciding how best to do away with him.
Percy stands from his bed slowly a growing smile on his face. He slowly walks closer to Gabe.
"You freak!" Gave shouts before a sock is shoved in his mouth before being covered by duct tape.
But Percy hadn't moved. Finally he spoke. "You're going to leave. And you won't ever come back."
A fist suddenly hits Gabe in the stomach.
"Let go! Let me hit him again!" One of the voices shouts.
Gabe doubles over a bit but hands hold him straight.
Percy steps closer and glared at him. "You're never coming back. You will never bother me, my mom, or my friends again."
Percy steps back and Thalia steps forward. She rips the tape from Gabe's mouth and the punk girl and others finally appear in Gabe's eyes. He lets out a scream but she only smiles.
"Go ahead and tell," a blonde girl with gray eyes stands arms crossed and glaring at him. "Who's going to believe you?"
Then all of them (but Percy say in unison) "We're imaginary."
Gabe rips himself away from the hands and runs out the room.
"Success!" Leo shouts as the walrus of a man runs.
Percy grabs his friends in hugs large smirk on his face.
"Percy? I just saw Gabe run out of the building- who is everyone?" Sally says walking in confused.
"My friends," Percy smiles. "You've met them all," Percy says before he introduced each.
"Oh," Sally says trying to hide her surprise. "Well... I was planning on making cookies. Looks like I'll need to make more."
