Nico eyes wander across the scene in front of him not actually registering anything. He simply continued to nod now and then as his half sister- Hazel spoke. He was continuously scanning the background for someone he knew would come to the cafe.

Nico and Hazel had come to Half-Blood Cafe many times. Today was no different. The cafe was just one of the many on Ogygia. The nice island just barely off the coast of California.

A nice vacation spot that's not too far away and not too expensive. A simple short ferry ride.

The siblings father- a rich man by the name of Hades had a nice mansion on the island. And was often the spot his children would go on the weekends or in the summer as they were now.

Nico continued to scan the crowd for the certain lifeguard whom he knew had a lunch break right about now. A moment later a smiling boy with black hair and bright green- no they were of sea green eyes walked in with his friends. The ever present blonde girl stood at his side. Nico frowned a bit. Though he had already know this, it always pained him to see the two lifeguards as a couple.

"Nico!" Hazel shouts slapping the back of his head. Nico looks back to his sister who has her hand ready to whack him again. He holds his hands up in an I surrender fashion.

Hazel groans. "Did you hear a word I said or were you staring at your mermaid?"

"Merman," Nico corrects. "He's a guy."

"Mermaid sounds better," Hazel argues. "Now. I am going to say this one more time. And you shall listen understood?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Good. You are coming with me to we to beach tonight. We will meet Reyna, Frank Jason, and others there. We are having a surprise party for their friend-"

"Do we even know this person?"

"I do and I'm not letting you stay cooped up in your room all night. It's a party and you're going to have fun if you like it or not."

Nico looks into his sisters golden eyes, he puts on his best pleading look. Hazel ignores him.

"So, Frank and I were supposed to pick up the cake but, now Jason got hit in the head with a brick-"

"What?" Nico asks wondering if he heard correctly.

Hazel nods. "Yeah so he can't get the decorations. So Frank and I have to. So you are going to get the cake."

"Wait? What? No!"

"Yes," Hazel says standing. "The cake is already paid for. Party will be at 10 get there at 9:30. It's on the south side of the beach. Pick the cake up from the bakery. Here is the slip," Hazel hands Nico the slip and leaves before her brother can protest.

Nico groans and mutters a few swears in Italian. He stands grabbing his coffee as he scans the cafe's crowd. He frowns disappointed to see that his mermaid had already left. Nico sighs and heads out the door.

Nico walks into Diana's his mouth watering the moment the door opens. His eyes scan the baked goods lining the shelves and he can feel is stomach growling. He approaches the counter deciding on what to get himself.

"Welcome to Diana's how may I help- oh it's just you Death Breath."

"Good to see you too Pinecone Face," Nico says with an eye roll. He just had to go as the Grim Reaper for Halloween...

"So whatcha want?" Thalia asks her adjusting her silver uniform.

Nico simply hands over the slip to get the cake. Thalia nods and goes back to get the cake.

"I didn't know you were going to Kelp Head's party," Thalia comments handing over the cake.

"Who?" Nico asks confused.

"Kelp Head? Percy Jackson? I mean this is the cake for his birthday party later."

Nico shrugs. "Never met the guy. Hazel's dragging me along."

"Of course she is."

"Wait. If you're going why do I have to get cake?" Nico groans.

"I'm coming late," Thalia answers.

"Thalia!" A voice shouts.

"Shut up Zoë! I'm talking!" Thalia yells back.

"I don't care! Lady Diana wants-"

"Ignore them. Anything else I can get you?" Asks another girl. Pheobe by her name tag.

Nico nods and looks back to shelves deciding on what to get.

"Yes cake!"

"Back away Valdez before I hurt you," Nico says calmly. Leo quickly takes a step back.

"This is why I like having your around Nico," laughs a voice. Nico glances over to Piper who comes up.

"And why is that?" Nico asks confused.

"Because your the only one beside me and Calypso who he listens to," says the Native American girl as she ruffles Leo's brown curls.

Leo slaps her hand away and the two foster siblings begin to bicker. Nico rolls his eyes and continues through the sand over to where Reyna and Frank are setting up tables. Hazel and Calypso are laying out some blankets while Jason sits in a chair a large band-aid on his head.

"A brick really?" Nico asks as he approaches his friend.

"Piper is shipping it," Jason groans. "She calls it Brason. Pretty sure Reyna thinks I'm cheating on her with an actual person. She's been ignoring me."

"So how'd you get hit with a brick?"

"Very long story."

Nico rolls his eyes and places the cake on a table.

"So... di Angelo..."

"It has come to our attention"

"That we don't hang out enough"

"How about we all head to your place after this?"

Nico turns around to face the Stoll brothers. Nico doesn't know them personally but he knows of them. It is rumored he two boys have an arrest record longer than the Constitution. And their favorite crime of choice: thievery.

"No," Nico says flatly and heads over to Hazel.

"Shh! They're coming!" Reyna yells.

The large group falls silent and two voices are heard from behind the buildings.

"Where are we going Annabeth?" A voice groans.

"Hush Percy. We're almost there."

"I want to go home and eat the cookies my mom sent!" Whines the other voice- Percy.

After a moment two people round the bend.

"Surprise!" Everyone shouts. The boy Percy blushes as he waves awkwardly to everyone.

Nico stares at sea-green eyed boy apparently by the name of Percy. His mermaid is Percy?

"Close your mouth," Hazel whispers in his ear.

Nico snaps his jaw shut and glares at his sister. "You knew?"

Hazel gives Nico a smile heads over to greet the birthday boy.

"Uh, Nico right?"

Nico looks up from his slice of cake. His dark eyes meeting sea-green.

"Yeah," Nico says slowly. He does everything in his power not to blush at the sight of the boy he had been watching being this close to him.

"You're Hazel's brother right?"

"Yeah. Hard to believe I know. How do you know Hazel?"

"I met her and Frank a couple months ago. It's a really long story though..."

"Oh I got you something,"Nico says pulling a card out of his pocket.

"You don't even know me," Percy blinks taking it.

"I felt awkward not getting anything. It's just a gift card to Diana's."

"Nice. Love sweets," Percy smiles. "You look familiar..."

Nico shrugs not wanting to say: I watch you everyday at lunch.

"Oh I know," Percy says. "You are always at Half-Blood Cafe."

Nico nods and tries not to blush. Guess he wasn't as subtle about watching Percy as he had thought.

"Yeah I go there a lot," Nico admits. "I think I've seen you and your girlfriend."

"Girlfriend...?" Percy repeats confused. "I'm not dating anyone.... Oh you mean Annabeth. No, she's just my best friend. She dating Piper."

Nico blinks taking in this information. Percy is single.... Now just need to find out if he's gay...

"Percy!" Yells the blonde- Annabeth. She is out in the water with her girlfriend Piper.

"Coming!" Percy calls, Percy pulls off his shirt and throws it on the table. Nico eyes Percy's six pack before stuffing cake in his face to distract himself. "Are you coming?" Percy asks Nico.

Nico blinks looking up at the older boy.

"Well?"

Nico nods slowly and places his cake down and takes off his shirt following Percy into the cold water.

Nico slowly opens his eyes. His head pounds. He makes out blurry shapes in the darkness. He groans closing his eyes again.

"Not allowed. Open your eyes Nico," a voice demands.

Nico slowly follows orders and opens his eyes once more. Things soon come into focus. He is able to make out Percy's sea-green eyes looking down at him.

"Oh thank god," Percy says leaning down to grab Nico in a hug. He releases Nico gently placing him back down. For the first time Nico looks around.

"Uh, what happened?" Nico asks. "And why are we in my room?" Nico lies in a large black bed and Percy sits next to the bed in Nico's large desk chair.

"You don't remember?"

"No...?"

"Well... the Stolls found Jason getting hit with a brick funny so they brought a bunch a bricks with them. Jason got mad and grabbed a brick and chucked it. I saw and pushed you out the way but then you fell and sort of almost drowned and then I carried you out. Will is like a doctor so he said you would be fine. And then Hazel drove us back here and I felt really bad about leaving since it was my fault, and I, um..." Percy stops his rambling by trailing off fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.

"Look I'm really sorry," Percy continues when Nico doesn't speak. "I understand if you hate me or something but I-"

Nico isn't sure if it's the pounding in his head, the dizziness he is feeling, just wanting to shut Percy up, or a combination but whatever the reason he leans up and kisses Percy.

After a moment Nico seems to realize what he is doing and lays back down. Percy stares back down at Nico a bright blush on his face. Nico is sure he looks the same way. Both boys stare at each other for a moment before Percy leans down to kiss the other boy once more.

"I'm sorry for ruining your birthday," Nico says softly as they separate for air.

"You can make up for it by taking me to dinner," Percy answers.

Nico smiles. "Of course."

"The reason I go to the cafe everyday is because your there," Percy admits.

"Hazel kept calling me a stalker because I would go to so you there," Nico chuckles sitting up some. Percy places his hands on Nico's shoulders pushing him back down.

"You rest. I'll come by to see how your doing tomorrow." Percy stands and walks toward the door.

Nico smiles. "Happy Birthday my Mermaid," He says softly. Percy blushes and leaves closing the door softly behind him.

"Well it's not how we planned to get them together but it worked," Hazel whispers still listening to the wall. The other two girls nod.

"Now, how do we get Katie and Travis together?" Piper asks.

Annabeth smiles. "I think I have an idea..."
