Chapter 18: Kat's POV
Chapter 18: Kat's POV
Surviving on the island wasn't that difficult. There was plenty of resources for food and other things. The only problem was Derek. The first thing I noticed about him was that he seemed a little clumsy. Of course, we still had to train, so I was his partner. I easily pushed him down to the ground, and he clumsily tried to defend himself. I won.
I needed water, so I went to his freshwater creek I had found the first hour of our explore. I was about to take a sip when I saw a girl. She looked about sixteen. When she saw me, she staggered back. I could tell she had been in the wild for just a little while. She quickly ran off, but I followed.
Being a child of Hermes was great for chasing people (or really stealing things). She was fast too. I pushed forward. She finally slowed down when she got to this hut that was pretty well built. It wasn't finished yet, so that meant she hadn't been here for a long time. She clicked a button on this weird bracelet thing, and it transformed into a sword. Her sword was really balanced, so I knew this could be a challenge for me.
"I don't want to hurt you," she warned.
"I'm not going to hurt you. I am a demigod on a quest," I replied. That caught her off guard for just a second. I did the sensible thing: I tackled her. She screamed in defiance, but I held on. She finally gave up.
"What do you want with me?" she huffed.
"Why are you on this island?" I asked curiously.
"I too was on a quest that was about two months ago. I went to Camp Half-Blood all of my life until the quest happened."
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Megan, Megan Revis," she replied.
"Hello, Megan. I'm Kat Cassia," I said warmly.
"Do you go to Camp Half-Blood?"
"Yes," I replied. "Who is your godly parent?"
"Athena," Megan answered.
"My dad is Hermes." We talked for a little bit about our pasts. "Hey, Megan. Do you want to come with us? I bet you want to get off this island, don't you?"
"How do you even know you're getting off?" she asked.
"Darci sent a message through a dream. I hoped it worked. She still is getting better at her powers," I replied.
"I'll come." She grabbed her torn up backpack and followed me the path we took.
"You're a fast runner," I laughed. She only smiled. When we got back, a campfire had been set up. I sighed with relief when the food was already cooked. Derek was good at one thing. Suddenly, a huge wave dosed our campfire and we yelled in defiance. A person walked out of the sea.
He then said, "My apologies. How about some seafood instead?"
