Little Nico and Will

I had a huge prompt in my head so I wrote a chapter on it. Good? Bad? Sad? Pissed off?

"Hey Neeks can ya keep up?" Percy asked playfully as he noticed how Nico tracked slower behind them.

"Oh haha," Will laugh mockingly, sticking out his tongue. He was holding Nico's hand as they walked. Nico's pace was slower than the others and with Will saying with him, the group was losing daylight.

"Guys this is serious. Nightfall is coming soon and unless we wanna camp out here we need to keep on walking to the nearest motel," Annabeth scolded the two.

"Got that Wise girl!" Percy smirked, doing finger guns.

"My gods," Annabeth shook her head, grabbing Percy's hands.

"You alright?" Will asked his boyfriend in a hush voice. Nico nodded and darted his eyes to the side. "Sunshine I know your lying. I know you've slipped, or are right now at least. You don't have to worry though. Once we get to the motel we can cuddle and-"

"No! I'm big," he replied in a whiny pout, his voice higher than earlier.

"Yeah right," Will gave him an unimpressed face before going into a soft smile. "It's okay to slip. It doesn't bother me-"

"But quest!"

"Yes, we are on a quest, but we're nearing the motel soon. I know how much you love cuddling and we can just lay down and cuddle. I could feed youuu~" Will said in a taunting singing voice. Nico thought about it for a second before shaking his head.

"N-No. Being small on quest is bad, I-I-I-I need to be big," Nico said, his voice a little like it's normal self but still higher. Will could see it. How Nico was slipping. And how hard he was trying to push it back. But he didn't need to. The quest wasn't anything big. It was actually not even necessary. But that's not what Mr. D said.

"Baby, you don't have t-"

"MINOTAUR!!!" Percy shouted as him and Annabeth dove to the side.

Will grip tightened as he ran to the side, dragging Nico along. He wrapped his arms protectively as they fell to the ground. Luckily just in time as a second late would of gotten his killed. Will got up, no longer holding Nico, and grabbed out his bow. The Minotaur looked like it was the original's twice removed.

"Stay there!" he demanded as he tried to shoot at the Minotaur. Although he wasn't the best he was still very good, being a child of Apollo.

As the other three fought off the monster Nico stared in fright. If he hadn't slipped yet he had fully slipped now. He was terrified of the monster. It scared the poor baby. He stumble stood up and watched as the others fought. Hearing Annabeth and Percy yell at him to help fight. Nico whimpered slightly. Why did Annabeth and Percy want him to fight? Was he in trouble? Daddy told him not to fight. Wasn't he also too little to fight? Or . . . was it really a bad time to slip? If so, did Daddy lie? No, Daddy doesn't lie. Maybe Nico should try to help-

"Nico don't you dare touch that sword!" Will threatened.

"Will are you mental or something?!" Annabeth lectured him.

"I'm pretty sure demigods only have ADHD and Dyslexia! Not madness!" Percy yelled at him. Pausing for a second. "Or does that come the more you know your a demigod?"

Soon the Minotaur noticed that the three moving demigods kept putting up a fight, one was like a deer in headlights. He charged at Nico. What should he do? Move. He has to move. Nico tried to move, he really did. But fear kept him frozen still. He couldn't move. No matter how much he tried. He looked up as the Minotaur swung his axe. He squeezed his eyes, waiting for impact.

Swung.

Nico opened his eyes as he didn't feel anything. There stood Percy and a detached Minotaur head, slowly going into dust. Soon Nico's voice came back and he started screaming, breaking down into tears. Percy turned around to yell at him but couldn't even start as Will rushed past him and hugged Nico.

"Will-"

"Save it," Will growled.

He bounce Nico, whispering sweet nothings into his ear. It took a while but he soon got the screaming to stop, tears still running down his face. Will smiled at this, giving him a little praise, and began to sing a hymn in Ancient Greece, healing everyone's wounds. Not only did it heal their wounds but it also fascinated the little boy. Making his crying die down to soft sniffles. Percy and Annabeth were too distracted helping each other to notice the small actions Will was doing or Nico was showing. They were pissed off that Nico didn't help fight. He's a demigod. A demigod that's been on even dangerous quest before! A Minotaur should be nothing.

"We should continue, the motel's close by," Annabeth told the pair. Will nodded and helped Nico wobbly stand up. Nico whined slightly. He had to walk there? Why couldn't Daddy just carry him? It wasn't fair!

"Can you walk?" Will asked in a whisper.

Nico whined again in response but nodded his head. Yes he could walk. Not well, he would prefer crawling right now. Will wrapped his arm around Nico's waist and held him close. Basically carrying him without carrying him. It took a little while till they got to the hotel. Percy and Annabeth were still upset. Nico could tell, it made him worry. As they began to walk it was like earlier. Percy and Annabeth talking and Nico and Will talking.

"Me sowwy," Nico whispered, drying tears that were reforming. He felt bad for regression. They were on a quest. It was a bad time to be a little baby.

"For what Cutie?" Will asked in the same lowered voice.

"Bein' babyish, nu good. Not good time."

"Don't say that, Hun. It's fine to be babyish. And I get your upset about the fight. You were probably scared. But it's okay to be scared. Wanna know something? Daddy was very scared." Nico's head perked up at this statement. Daddy was scared? But he's one of the bravest people he knew! Will chuckled as the small boy's action. "That's right. I was very scared. Big scary monsters are always scary. And I was scared of you getting hurt-"

"I sowwy!"

"No, no, no. You have no means apologizing. Scary things make us freeze. It's an instinct that happens sometimes. I'm not upset or mad. It's not something you could control on the spot. I'm just glad your okay. But back onto the baby stuff. It's completely okay to regress, even on quest. I'm just thankful I was here with you when it happened. It would of been scary otherwise."

Luckily when they got to the motel they didn't have anymore monster attacks. They checked into a room, it had two beds in it. It wasn't that bad. All they would have to do would be sharing beds, plus it was cheap. The position the sun and death boys where in was pretty cute. Will's back was against the bed post, his chin resting on his boyfriend's head. Nico was in between Will's legs, his back against his chest. Will was singing some lullaby to the baby, trying to forget about the fight from earlier. Will was running his fingers through Nico's hair. It was calming the boy, still a little upset. Actually, everything was going great! Until Percy came over. He was still upset and angry about earlier.

"Hey, what was earlier about?" he asked, his voice irritated.

"What do you mean?" Will replied for Nico.

"I mean when he didn't fight. He could of gotten badly hurt. Plus it's not like Nico to just freeze. So what happened?"

"He's fine now. You don't need to worry about it-"

"Actually I do need to worry about it. We are basically cousins, Solace. So don't tell me what I need to worry and what not to. He fell and didn't run. He didn't even try to help. Is he trying to get hurt? We could of lost him if we weren't there. What if we weren't there? What then?" Percy's voice was harsher than it was before. He was angry. He didn't want to lose Nico. They were family.

Nico whimpered slightly and looked at his feet. He had made Percy mad? He didn't mean to. Was this about regressing? Oh gods he knew it was bad to be babyish right now. Maybe he should just try pulling himself out of it and try his hardest to push it back, like he usually does.

"Percy, dude, I sort of need you to calm down for a second," Will tried to reason with him, taking notice of his baby's actions. Yes, he was also very upset but giving attitude or a mean voice would make Nico freak out more than he already was. Will could tell his breath change. How he started grabbing at the blanket as hard as he could.

"I do have to agree with Percy," Annabeth said, walking back into the room. She was using the bathroom when this argument started. Although she had heard it all. "He could of gotten injured. It was nothing like him as well. Let's not forget that he didn't even shadow travel away-"

"Would you guys stop?!" Will raised his voice, being more aggressive now.

"Stop what?? Caring for a friend?" Percy had also raised his voice.

"We just want to know why he didn't fight back!"

"It shouldn't concern you!"

"WELL IT DOES!"

By this point, everyone was screaming at each other. They kept on fighting as Nico slammed his hands over his ears to try and block out the sound, squeezing his eyes tight as tears falling fast from his eyes. He never liked yelling before. He defiantly didn't liked yelling in his headspace. It always scared him even more. He was scared to get hit or get lectured. He was scared he did something bad and the others left him for it. And in his mind he did do something bad. He slipped. He didn't fight. He didn't move. He didn't do anything! He was a bad baby. He shouldn't  even be a baby right now. Why couldn't he of just waited till they got back to camp? Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"STOP!" He screamed, catching everyone's attention. Percy and Annabeth shut up and actually looked at Nico. They're eyes softened and heart broke a little when they saw the state he was in. Will squeezed Nico tighter, disappointed in himself for getting angry like that while knowing Nico was around.

"I'm sorry, Baby. I'm so sorry. It's alright now, no one's angry," Will started, changing Nico's position to that Nico could bury his face into his chest. Will kept on trying to calm down the scared baby. Whispering apologizes, rubbing circles on his back, scratching his head, sometimes kissing the top of it.

Percy and Annabeth stared at the scene, wondering what was happening. One: Will kept on using nicknames. He's really ever only said Sunshine or The Dark Lord. Two: Nico might not like loud noises but it's never been this bad. When the seven hang out they're always screaming at each other. Sure Nico doesn't necessarily like it but he's never spoken against it.

Then it clicked to Percy. The loud noises, the fast tears, the cute nicknames, the hands over the ears. Could Nico be a little? He had seen littles at school before. Although he never knew the people personally he heard people talk about it or throw a pouty fit. He had seen that they sometimes had a hard time during classes and it made them stressed. He had seen that when people raised their voices they started tearing up. People may think he's dumb but he's pretty observant, at times.

Annabeth had no clue what was going on right now. The burst had startled her. She had no idea why he was crying this hard. Or why he didn't fight earlier. She hasn't seen this side of Nico very much. He's usually very strong and by himself. But right now he seemed so vulnerable.

"Oh gods Nico, I'm so sorry. I didn't know," Percy rubbed the crying boy's back. "I didn't mean to scare you. I understand now. I'm sorry for not noticing earlier."

Will smiled at how Percy tried to help comfort the boy. Annabeth twisted her face, "I'm sorry but what?"

"I'll explain, Annabeth. Let's leave these two to calm down," Percy smiled at his girlfriend. Annabeth nodded as the two left the room, holding hands.

Will was still trying to make the little boy feel better. But he knew something else was up. Not just the loud noises or that he got angry. But that he apologized earlier for being babyish. With that in thought he probably felt really bad.

"Baby, are you okay?" Will finally asked as Nico calmed down to little sniffles and hiccups.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Nico began to apologize frantically. He was in between his headspaces by now. Trying to pull himself out fully and be big. Being little was bad right now, right? That's why the others started yelling, right?

"Baby can you look at me?" Will asked, putting his hand under Nico's chin and lifting his head. Will kissed his forehead and put them together. "Can you tell me why your apologizing?"

"I was little and that's bad. No need to be little here. Being little bad," Nico explained, shifting uncomfortably.

"No, no, no, being little if fine. It's what you need. I just wished that you would of told me earlier and we could of walked faster," Will gave a encouraging smile, making the Son of Hades's give one back. Will then frowned before speaking again. "Now that I think about it, when was the last time you've been little, Cookie?"

Nico's eyes darted to the wall, biting his lip slightly. The truth was, he's been trying to avoid regressing. And when he felt the urge to be little he would push it back. By now his little side had become a bit out of control, making him slip on the quest. Will waited for a response. But when Nico would open his mouth he would immanently close it. He knew he had to explain but couldn't find the words.

"Three months?" Will answered for him. Nico nodded. "Baby, you should of inform me! I would of help you."

"It's not that," Nico coughed. Will was thinking that Nico was having a hard time regressing. It made Nico have a small smile. Seeing that he offered to help. But it wasn't that.

"Can you tell me what it is then?"

"I've . . . been avoiding small. Training instead. Being small isn't helpful. Being big means I can fight," Nico tried to explain. He was grabbing fistfuls of his hair by now. His head ached really badly and he was terrible at explaining at times.

"You don't wanna be small because you can't help?" Will asked, Nico nodded. Will gave a sympathetic look and grabbed Nico's wrist. He tried as gently as he could to make Nico let go of his hair. Once he did he grabbed his hand and placed them on his chest. "Look at me, Hun, please." Nico looked at Will's eyes. His eyes clearly were watering. Will gave a soft smile and continued. "I'm not mad. A little upset, yes, but not much. I wished you told me this earlier but we can't change that now. Again, I'm not mad or upset. I forgive you, and I promise that when we get back to camp we can have a whole little day inside your cabin, alright?"

"Promise?"

"I promise, Doll."

"I'm sorry for-"

"It doesn't matter anymore, Darling," Will chuckled, bringing Nico into a hug, which he gladly accept. "What a cute baby. So cute, so pretty."

Will kept on complementing Nico, which made him smile and slip. Will knew that he didn't have to forgive Nico for anything. Yes, he made a mistake. He was upset that Nico thought that. But they can't change the past. All he could do right now is encourage slipping and help him.

Soon Percy and Annabeth came back into the room. Will looked over at then and smiled. Nico looked at where Will was looking and frowned. Right, Percy and Annabeth were still here. Were they still mad? Nico grabbed a fistful of Will's shirt and dug his face into the croak on his neck. He was mostly worried about Annabeth being angry. Percy seemed to sort of understand. And he didn't seem completely upset after. But what if he was? And Annabeth didn't seem not angry when she felt the room. What if she was even more angry? Nico whimpered as he felt a dip on the bed, someone sitting down.

"Hey Neeks," Annabeth said, putting her hand on the baby's back. "we're sorry for yelling earlier.  We understand now and we shouldn't of yelled at you for that stuff. Can you forgive us?"

Nico looked over at Annabeth and whined, making grabby hands. Annabeth was surprised for a second but caught on that he want her to hold him. She opened out her arms and he crawled onto her lap. She wasn't angry, thank gods, but was actually guilty? Annabeth wrapped her arms around Nico and petted her hair.

"Next time we'll try to realize when you slip, okay? You have nothing to worry about!" She smiled, tickling his sides, making him giggle. It semi surprised Percy and Annabeth don't hear him laugh often but it was adorable! "We should go get dinner now."

"Otay," Nico said, crawling back to his Daddy.

He looked over at Percy, trying to see it he was angry. He didn't seem angry. Not at all actually. He gave Nico a smile. The smile was a warm and calm one that needed no words but said them all at the same time. From what he's seen of Mrs. Sally he assumed that he learned it from her. As soon as they felt he looked back at Will.

"Cuddles or cartoons?" Will asked, noticing the remote beside them.

"Both?" Nico asked in a quiet voice. Could he do both? Does he deserve both? Will chuckled and layed Nico on top of him, kissing the top of his head.

"Of course Baby."
