Chapter 2 - The Adams Family

This is a much longer chapter than the previous 2 so sit back and enjoy

The whole train was packed Percy couldn't find a compartment that wasn't full. Herclate said he needs to become friends with Harry what better way than to be the first person he talks to, Harry would have to be friends with him then. He walked through the whole train and couldn't find him anywhere. Sighing and giving up on finding he looked for a place to sit down.

Back at the end of the train were two kids who looked like siblings one was a boy whose head was stuck in his book he had black hair that was neatly put next to him a girl was sitting there, looking extremely happy, her wavy dark brown hair was all over the place. The two are opposites Percy noticed.

"Hey, there's nowhere else open can I sit here?" Percy asked the two

" Yeah of course," the girl said while covering her mouth letting out a small laugh, and pointing to the open sit

Percy wondered what she was laughing about as he sat down the girl said "Hello my name is Layla Adams, what's yours?

"Percy Jackson," he said once aging Layla laughed when he spoke

"What are you laughing about?" Percy asked

"It's your accent, it's so goofy where the heck did you get it from," she said with a grin

"My accent, nah your accent is the funny one," Percy said smiling from her clear British accent.  Percy thought he had a normal voice maybe they thought of his voice just like he thought of hers.

"My accent, nah your accent is the funny one" Layla tried to mimic Percy but failed horribly

Percy was the one laughing now"Oh my gods that was horrendous" Percy wheezed out

"Oh I would like to see you try" Layla opposed

"Ok, I'm Percy Jackson and I'm from America," Percy said normally "See that wasn't too hard"

"You're annoying" Layla pouted "Wait you are from America, why are you here heck are you here?"

Percy didn't know what to say he didn't think about what he would do in this situation. "Um, I wanted a change," he said hesitantly it wasn't a complete lie he did want a change just not this change. The change he wanted was to go to New Rome with Annabeth and relax. Luckily the two didn't ask further questions about what he said.

"So I'm guessing this is your first year at Hogwarts?" Layla asked

"Yup," Percy said not knowing there were grade levels. "What about you two," Percy asked back

"Oh yeah it's my first year too, not my brothers though," She said pointing to her brother "Copper's already in his 3rd year he told me all about the school."

Percy looked at her brother who still hadn't acknowledged his presence yet. He reminded Percy of Annabeth, so he knows how to deal with someone like this, you annoy them till they break, so that is what he did.

"So Copper that's your name?" Percy asked

He looked up for the first time and looked at Percy with a glare "Yes that is what my sister said." "Did you not hear her?" Copper said

"Um no I was just making sure," Percy said with a smile well that was easy with Annabeth it usually takes much longer.

"What house do you think you going to be in" Layla spoke quickly

Percy said, "House, what house." Percy hoped these houses were like cabins back at Camp Half-Blood.

"You don't know anything, all students are sorted in their house which best fits them. Ravenclaw is for those who are wise, Hufflepuff for those who are Loyal, Slytherin for the ambitious and cunning, and lastly Gryffindor for the brave ." Copper said in one breath

Percy noticed that he said the last one with a different tone filled with hatred and disgust.

"I hope I'm in Gryffindor they sound the best and most fun," Layla said excitedly

"No Layla you don't they are arrogant jerks who think they own the school. I hope you don't get put with those kids" Copper told his sister while staring at Percy like he was one of those kids.

Percy asked ignoring his look "What house are you in then?"

"Isn't it obvious I'm in Ravenclaw" Copper said holding up his book

"Yeah, my brother is a boring human who reads all day in his room." Layla said, "I don't think he went outside once this summer."

"That is not true I went outside and didn't spend all summer reading, you're exaggerating." Copper said

"Oh my bad I forgot you only went outside to go to the library to get more books. That doesn't count as going outside Copper" Layla said with a smile

Percy hoped he and Layla would become good friends. Copper, he wasn't sure about he didn't seem to like him. Oh well, he knows not everyone will like him. But Percy didn't do anything to him, why does he hate him so much?

"How it's like in America?" Copper asked curious

"How's what like in America?" Percy said on the inside he was panicking he didn't show that on his face though. He didn't know anything about the wizards. He just learned they existed 30 minutes ago.

"What school did you go to there? How's wizard life there? I have heard they are treated worse than here."

Percy needed to think fast "Um well the school I can't tell you cause it's a secret." He might be able to relate demigod life to wizard life. "As for wizard life, we have not revealed ourselves to the people." Percy hoped that what he said would be good enough and that Copper wouldn't ask further.

"Hmh sure," Copper said, " Have you heard of Ilvermorny?"

Oh gods how what the heck was Copper saying now "Oh yeah of course I have heard of that" Percy lied

"What is it then?" Copper asked

Crap Percy was screwed he shouldn't have lied. " It's a school," Percy said taking a shot in the dark.

"Yeah" was Copper's response

What, Percy couldn't believe it he was right, maybe he did have some luck on his side.

"Are you done interrogating him now?" Layla said to Copper

Copper started "I do have more questions"

Percy groaned inwardly thankfully Layla spoke, "No no more questions."

Copper looked right at Percy saying "Fine"

*Time skip*

Percy could hear his stomach grumbling when he got off the train he was still with Layla and Copper. He turned to his right and saw a massive castle Annabeth would be jealous of. He'd have to tell her about it when he gets the chance.

"Woah it's better than what u described Copper," Layla said in awe

Percy shivered in the cold night he was tired and hungry not a good combo. He heard a booming voice over the wind

"Firs' years firs' years over here" came from what seemed like a mini giant. Percy felt his pen in his pocket he didn't have the best rep with giants he would have to keep an eye on him.

"C'mon, follow me" "Mind yer step" "All firs' years follow me"

"Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone" Copper chided Layla

"Yeah yeah I love you to" Layla said

Percy lost Layla in the crowd as they stumbled through the dark and narrow path. Nobody made a sound as they followed the mini giant.

"Jus' round this bend here" He spoke aging

Right when they rounded the bend there was a loud "oooooh"

Percy saw one of the most aesthetic views ever seen. With the magnificent castle on the high mountain in the background and the lake with the moon shining off it, with the starry night, it would truly make the perfect date for him and Annabeth.

"No more'n four to a boat" The mini ain't said pointing to the little boat in the water by the shore.

Well, this would be fun Percy hurried to the boat he was the first person to get on. He saw Layla also run when she saw him. It was just the two of them on the boat, they left before anyone could get on.

Neither Percy or Layla said anything as they crossed the lake. All the students were mesmerized by the castle.

They reached the end of the lake the first years got off walking up the stairs up to the oak front door.

The mini giant raised his fist and knocked three times. The door swung open right after and came out was a tall black hair lady who was in emerald green fancy clothes. Her face reminded Percy of Annabeth's mother. He would not want to get on her bad side.

"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said the mini giant

"Thank you, Hagrid for bringing them. I will take it from here," said Professor McGonagall

So that's what the mini giant's name is Hagrid so far Percy didn't see any of his ancestors in him other than his size.

*Small Time skip*

Percy was in the middle of the mob that was the first year's. They all walked through the grand doors into the Great Hall. The first years were waiting patiently for something to happen Percy took the time to find Harry. Percy was a bit taller than the average of the group. Percy finally saw Harry he was next to a boy with red hair they seemed to be talking.

Percy mostly zoned out as the kids went up to get sorted. The only one he paid attention to was Layla's she got into Gryffindor like she wanted to. Copper would differently be mad at the choice.

Then he heard "Potter, Harry" called by Professor McGonagall. Percy watched carefully as Harry walked up he looked nervous like he didn't want to be there. After a while, the talking hat announced "GRYFFINDOR." Right after Harry's face broke out into a smile so did the old man long beard's face. As the gold and red table chanted "We got Potter we got Potter."

Once again he zoned out until his name was called. Professor McGonagall said "Jackson, Perseus" Percy shook his head as he walked up, great now the whole school will know him as Perseus.

Percy did not know what to expect when he walked up the steps and sat on the stool. The hat was lowered on his head, and as it rested

he heard a voice in his ear "Oh interesting it's one of you, haven't had a godly child quite some time"

"Umm is this in my head"

"Yes, boy this is obviously in your head. Any more stupid questions?"

"No, I don't get any more right now"

"Great now let's begin. Hmm you have had a tough life, yes loyalty flows through you. You would do quite well in Hufflepuff. But no there is more to you, hmm the things you have faced people couldn't even dream about. Gryffindor would help you grow yes, that is it Hufflepuff would fit you nicely but wouldn't help you grow. On the other hand, Gryffindor will show you not just courage and bravery but will help with your emotions. "GRYFFINDOR" the hat shouted at once.

Percy couldn't speak as he got to the table he was in deep thought about what the hat told him. He could be thinking about it too much, after all, it was just a hat. He needed Annabeth to help him with this she would be able to calm him down.

All his worries disappeared for the night as piles and piles of all the food in the world Percy could want appeared right in front of him. He dug in without a care in the world.
