"Keep your head down."
"Don't tell your mother you've been gambling," Mr Weasley implored Fred and George as they all made their way slowly down the purple-carpeted stairs.
"Don't worry, Dad," said Fred gleefully, "we've got big plans for this money. We don't want it confiscated."
"What are you going to do with it?" Seph asked, cursious. The two boys smirk and pulled her a little further away from the group and started whisper-talking to her about the plans. She smiled as she heard it, giving them some ideas to help out them out as they walked towards the tent.
The group had stayed up, slowly falling asleep while drinking hot cocoa. Seph had curled up in a pair of plaid yellow pj pants and an oversized black hoodie that she may have stolen from one of the many boys. Seph chatted softly with some of the Weasley's. Catching up with them all and asking questions about the Wizarding world as long as she could before her mind accidentally changed subjects.
"Oh, I am glad I'm not on duty," muttered Mr. Weasley, sleepily. "I wouldn't fancy having to go and tell the Irish they've got to stop celebrating."
Seph sat in a chair with her legs crossed over each other, trying desperately to not go to sleep. Not just because of the nightmares, but also she didn't want to endure another one of Hecate's lessons. They weren't bad, it's just... they were bad. Annoying and trying to soak in all the information, literally. She somehow put facts and information in water and made her lay in it until she remembered every little fact and could spit them out at random.
Slowly her eyes drooped and she fell asleep, grateful for the land of blankness. Of course, the peace didn't last long, typical. She woke up to screaming and the sound of footsteps.
Her eyes shot open, wide and alert. Her hand went to her pocket to grab her pen, only to faintly remember that she now had a wand instead. She looked around the room as she stood up, watching as Ron quickly woke Harry up, telling him to grab a jacket and get outside. She followed them outside, staying in the back so nothing attacks them.
She didn't realize she had been holding her breath until she started to feel lightheaded. She quickly took a few breaths as she looked up to where a green light shown in the sky. She looked down to the people wearing masks. Seph tried to pull the two boys away as the group of masked men played with the people above them like puppets. The others, Mr. Weasley, Hermione, Ginny, Charlie, Bill and Percy came out, the boys full clothed and wands out while Hermione and Ginny were pulling their coats over their nightdresses.
"We're going to help the Ministry!" Mr. Weasley shouted over all the noise, rolling up his own sleeves. "You lot - get into the woods, and stick together. I'll come and fetch you when we've sorted this out!"
Bill, Charlie, and Percy were already running toward the oncoming marchers, Mr. Weasley following closely after.
"C'mon," Fred grabbed Ginny by her arm and pulled her toward the wood. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and George followed. They all looked back as they reached the trees. Seph had swallowed hard as she watched everything, George had to run back and grab her and bring her back to the woods. They all kept going, Seph snapped out of her trance of everything. She thought she would be able to put her past behind her and not freeze in the heat of battle. But she froze. And she hated it. She had never froze before. Not since, well not since the last battle. The group stopped as soon as they heard ROn yell with pain.
"What happened?" said Hermione anxiously, stopping so abruptly that Harry walked into her. "Ron, where are you? Oh this is stupid - lumos!"
She pointed her wand toward where the sound came from. Ron was sprawled on the ground.
"Tripped over a tree root," he said angrily, getting onto his feet after Seph grabbed his arm to help him up.
"Well, with feet that size, hard not to," said a drawling voice from behind them.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione turned sharply. Draco Malfoy was standing alone nearby, leaning against a tree, looking utterly relaxed. His arms folded, he seemed to have been watching the scene at the campsite through the gap in the trees.
Ron told Malfoy to do something that Harry knew he would never have dared say in front of Mrs. Weasley.
Seph had looked away, not knowing if she should feel proud, laugh, or scold him to not say in her presence so she wouldn't rat. Like she would. So instead she just turned away.
"Language, Weasley," said malfoy, his pale eyes glittering. "Hadn't you better be hurrying along, now? You wouldn't like her spotted, would you?"
He nodded at Hermione, and at the same moment, a blast like a bomb sounded from the campsite, and a flash of green light momentarily lit the trees around them.
"We have to go," Seph muttered, trying to gain their attention, but never looking at them. Her thumb tapping her on her thigh, tring to prevent ehrself from running out of there on instinct. She couldn't see Fred, George, or GInny around. She mentally cursed herself for losing them. She kept her eyes on the three kids, so she wouldn't loose them. Her job was to protect the Boy-WHo-Lived, she would do just that. She ignored the three's conversation as she paid attention to what was going on. "Lets go. Save the little chat for later," Seph says pulling the group up the path with a grunt, almost making them fall over. The path was packed with plenty of people. A huddle of teenagers in pajamas were arguing vociferously a little way along the path. When they say the 4, a girl with thick curly hair turned and said quickly, "Ou est Madame Maxime? Nous l'avons perdue-"
"Er - what?" said Ron.
"Oh," the girl who had spoken turned her back on him, and as they walked on they distinctly heard her say, "'Ogwarts."
"Beauxbatons," muttered Hermione.
"Sorry?" said Harry.
"They must go to Beauxbatons," said Hermione. "You know... Beauxbatons Academy of Magic... I read about i in An Appraisal of Magical Education in Europe."
"Oh... yeah... right," said Harry. Seph had fallen to the back, they could see in font of them and she could keep track of them. Seph's head snapped towards Harry when he said that he had lost his wand, her eyes going wide. Seph cursed herself again as they looked around quickly, the two friends comforted him. Seph watched as Winky had appeared then disappeared. She ignored Hermione's rant on House-Elves, not wanting to hear another one. She barely got through the first one. Okay, she only got through barely half of it, but still. Seph pushed them all to have them keep moving instead of bickering.
"Keep forward," Seph told them. "Stay on the path and just try and ignore everything." Seph said as she sw Harry was about to tell Ron something, and interrupting Hermione on telling them off. They had ran into Bagman, who looked very white and strained.
"Who's that?" he said, blinking down at them, trying to make out their faces/ "What are you doinghere, all alone?"
"There's a riot happening," Seph told them before Ron had the chance. "At the campsite. People got ahold of mor-muggles." Bagman had sworn loudly before disappearing with a pop. Hermione had made a comment but Seph just tried to get them to move along.
"I hope the others are okay," Seph heard Hermione say.
"They'll be fine," said Ron.
Before they could continue any longer, Seph had shushed them, they all stared at her in confusion before they heard it too.
"Hello?" called Harry. Seph shushed him before he said another word. Seph's eyes went wide as spell was hollered and a bright flash of green erupted in the sky. Suddenly, everything around them erupted with screams. Seph's breath quickened as she reckognized the symbol in the sky from one of her lessons with Hecate. She started to pull the three across the hearing, cutting off anything and ignoring Harry's questions.
"DUCK!" Seph yelled to the three as she saw a group of almost 20 wizards withtheir wands up appearing from thin air. Seph had pulled Ron to the ground as he was closest to her, the other two following.
"STUPEFY!" they yelled, blinding light flashed over them. Seph put her hand on Harry's head, who tried to look up and forced his head down.
"Keep your head down," she tells him. She looked at the other two, their heads on the ground; Hermione's eyes squeezed shut.
"Stop!" A familiar voice yelled. "STOP! That's my son!"
The wind had stopped and Seph looked up to where she spotted Arthur Weasley walking towards them. Seph let go of Harry's head and brought her hand close to her chest as she slowly stood up.
"Ron - Seph - Harry" - his voice sounded shaky - "Hermione - are you all alright?"
"Out of the way, Arthur," said a cold, curt voice.
It was Mr. Crouch. He and the other Ministry wizards were closing in on them. Harry was the first to stand, Seph followed slowly.
"Which of you did it?" he snapped, his sharp eyes darting between them. "Which of you conjured the Dark Mark?"
"We didn't do that!" said Harry, gesturing up at the skull.
"We didn't do anything!" said Ron, who was rubbing his elbow and looking indignantly at his father. "What did you want to attack us for?"
"Do not lie, sir!" shouted Mr. Crouch. His wand still pointed directly at Ron, and his eyes were popping - he looked slightly mad. "You have been discovered at the scene of the crime!"
"Barty," whispered a witch in a long woolen dressing gown.
"We didn't do anything," Seoh started, staring Mr. Crouch in the eyes. "You shouldn't just blame the first person you see. If you want to know who did it, it came from over there." Seph nodded towards where they heard the voice yelling the spell came from. She saw that Mr. Crouch was about say something again, and not caring who it was or how important they were. He was blaming them and she didn't like that. She saw out of the corner of her eyes that none of the other witches or wizards thought that they were the cause. They had their wands raised again and were facing over at the lace where she pointed. Seph glared at Mr. Crouch and he didn't say anything.
"We're too late," said the witch in the woolen dressing gown, shaking her head. "They'll have Disapparated."
"I don't think so," said a wizard with a scrubby brown beard. It was Amos Diggory, Cedric's father. "Our Stunners went right through those trees... There's a good chance we got them..."
"Amos, be careful!" said a few of the wizards warningly as Mr. Diggory squard his shoulders, raised his wand, marched across the clearing, and disappeared into the darkness. Seph watched as Amos came back with a small limp figure in his arms. She recognized it as the creature who had appeared and disappeared as they headed this way. Mr. Crouch did not move or speak as Mr. Diggory deposited his elf on the ground at his feet. The other Ministry wizards were all staring at Mr. Crouch. Seph stared at him with a raised brow, from everyone else's reaction, guessing that this was Mr. Crouch's house-elf. She crossed her arms as she stared.
