Chapter 10: San Diego, California

I'm soooooo sorry I haven't updated in like forever! I've been meaning to get to it but like with the end of the school year and stuff, it's been really busy around here. I hope this long chapter makes up for it even though I kept you waiting so long! I wasn't sure I should continue this, but when I saw all the views and votes, I decided to continue! And thank you @howrudoin02 for encouraging me to go farther! All you did was comment like 3 or 4 times and I decided to continue cause the one comment about Frank got my hopes up! If you liked it, I decided that other people probably like it too! So thanks! Now that it's summer, I am going to try to update more often! THANK YOU!

We hit the hot sand with a thud. We were under the shade of a palm tree.

"Where are we?" I ask.

"Well according to that sign that says 'Welcome to San Diego Beach' I think we're in San Diego, California." Piper notices.

"Well I think we should do something about that." Leo says pointing at Nico, who had fainted.

"Oh my god! Nico!" Hazel yells at her brother. She rushes to his unconscious side. "Piper! Quick get out your ambrosia!" Percy told me something about ambrosia being the food of the gods. Apparently it heals.

Piper rummages through her bag and comes out with a bag of some chunks of what I think is ambrosia. They carefully feed the ambrosia to Nico. His eyes fluttered open after a minute. We all took a sigh of relief.

"I'm ok. I was just taking a short nap." Nico struggles to get up, but Hazel pushes him back down.

"Well, even if you ARE ok, you still need to rest. You did just eat ambrosia anyway." Hazel commands politely.

"Fine. But only for a minute." Nico gives up.

"Nico is right. Los Angeles is still 2-3 hours away." Piper explains.

"Alright, but Nico take it easy." Jason says.

"I said I was fine!" Nico gritted his teeth and clenched his fists angrily.

"I heard what you said. I'm not deaf." Jason shrugs off his anger.

We all start walking towards the city. We are going to be walking on foot from here because we don't want any more monsters wrecking things. Or hurting the people that live around here.

"My dad brought me here once before. I know how to get to Los Angeles from here." Piper remembers.

We all follow Piper, around a city that I was not particularly familiar with. Eventually my surroundings changed. I hadn't been paying attention for the past thirty minutes. We were now in the middle of some woods. I could see cars in the distance. I could tell I was zoned out because I caught the end of a conversation.

"-Right Clover?" Percy said.

I was so confused that I said, "Huh?" oh-so intelligently.

Everyone stopped walking and doubled over in laughter.

"What?" I ask confused. "Was it something I said?"

When Leo caught his breath, he finally let out, "We were just having a conversation on what was the best ice cream flavor. Then, Percy asked you, 'Vanilla is the best flavor, right Clover?'" he paused to laugh, but then he continued. "All you replied was 'huh?'. So, to answer your question, yes. It WAS something you said." He doubled over and continued laughing when he finished talking.

"Well, to answer your question, Percy, that is not the best flavor." Percy gasped as I crossed my arms over my chest, and stuck my nose in the air with confirmation. "I think Cookie's 'n' Cream is the best ice cream flavor."

"HUH! I can't even look at you right now!" he pretended to shun me.

At that I started laughing with them. We all laughed for about ten minutes straight, until we heard a loud growl behind us.

"Holy Hades..." I heard, I think Nico, mumble.

I turned to where Nico was staring. I saw a giant, when I say giant, I mean 10 feet tall and 15 feet long HUGE, dog that had two giant heads to go along with it's body. But there was something playful about this things growl. I saw something sit up on the back of the monster. He had brown hair, one eye, and was like six feet tall. He rubbed his eye, and then opened it widely in surprise. I think the thing was cyclopes because I'm pretty sure I learned about them at camp and at school a little. I noticed it was eyeing Percy.

"BROTHER!" the cyclopes roared. He hopped off of the two headed dog and bounded towards Percy. He embraced Percy in a bone-breaking hug.

"Who are you?" I questioned, automatically going for my dagger and pointing straight at one-eye.

"Oh... Calm down, Clover. This is Tyson. My cyclopes half brother. He is only 5 years old now, but he is still strong. He's my brother." he repeated that last part as I consciously lowered my dagger.

The next thing I new, I was literally being lifted off of my feet by Tyson. He hugged me.

"A friend of my brother, is my friend too." he said.

"Can't......Breath......" I wheezed. He quickly dropped me, and went over to greet the others who obviously already knew him.

"Ok... Now that I understand that bit, who is that?" I wonder.

"Well first of all that's a 'what', and that is Mrs. O' Leary, my pet hellhound." Percy answered, patting Mrs. O' Leary on the back.

After a bit of catching up, Percy decided to ask what Tyson was doing in California.

"Well I smelt the strong aura on you." he said randomly sniffing Percy, which was awkward for all of us. "And then I smelt you..." He pointed at me.

"Uhhhhh...." I was confused.

"Your different! OOOOH! Are you my sister? You are strong!" He found interest in me and looked at me dreamily.

"No...? I don't think so at least. I am a daughter of Zeus." I tell him.

"Oh. My daddy's Poseidon." He says sadly, in a babyish voice.

"Ok..... So how does this work..... Like how exactly did he find us?" I repeat Percy.

"Oh. Cyclopes, and really all monsters, have a very strong sense of smell. They use it like a hunting hound does. In this case, Tyson is a good cyclopes, so he was just finding us because we are friends. He smelt our aura." Nico explained to me.

"Ok... I guess that makes somewhat sense." Ianswered.

"Well that's good. But WHY are you in California?" Percy asks Tyson.

"I'm not really sure actually. I just felt directed here. I assumed it was dad, but now I'm not so sure." Tyson scratched the top of his head.

"Maybe dad brought you here for us." Percy decided.

"Actually no." I heard an unknown voice.

"Who-?" Percy uncapped riptide.

I noticed a puddle rippling. Then it started to ripple harder and faster as the voice continue to speak again.

"Now that is hurtful that you don't recognize your own father, Perseus." I am guessing, Poseidon, sounding hurt, said.

"Dad? Why are you eaves dropping on me, AGAIN?" Percy now singled out the small puddle.

"Well, I sent Tyson to you as protection for him. Plus, I needed a way to track you down to warn you about something." Poseidon ignored his son's question.

"What's the warning, and why couldn't you track us down yourself?" Annabeth questioned the god.

"Well someone has cut off most godly connection to the mortal world. So that's actually what I wanted to warn you about. Someone powerful enough to knock out communication like that, is very dangerous obviously. Keep an eye out, don't let your guard down, and definitely don't turn your back when your alone. Good luck! I can't hold thi-" Poseidon stopped talking.

"Hello? Are you still there, dad?" Percy sounded worried.

"I think he was about to say, 'I can't hold this connection for long.' So... I am pretty sure he was cut off." I explained like it was obvious.

"Ok... Then we must get a move on. I don't think we should stay in one place for too long. I don't think it is remotely safe." Frank stated.

"Great observation, Sherlock! I thought we should just stay here, and wait for some monsters to eat us!" Leo said sarcastically.

I bit my lip trying not to laugh, but Percy obviously didn't bother holding back his laughter. Percy started laughing harder as blood rushed to Franks face, illuminating it in a red blush.

"Let's get a move on then." Annabeth elbowed Percy only to make him laugh harder.

"Great. Now you woke the tree nymphs, and the dead is not exactly happy either!" Nico chastised Percy.

Annabeth yanked him up off his knees, for he had laughed so hard he had pretty much collapsed on the floor. We started walking, and I started to notice how bad my feat hurt from walking, so I decided to ask Tyson if I could ride Mrs. O' Leary with him. He didn't even bother objecting, he just lifted me up onto her back.

We decided it was best to play a game to pass the time.

"How 'bout we play 'I Spy'?" I suggested.

"Neh. I like 'The Scenario Game'." Leo explained.

"You just made that up!" Nico complained.

"Yeah, but it's a good game." Leo smiled.

"What about we play... 'Truth or Dare'? Everyone likes that game, plus it's easy!" Jason supplied.

"I like that one." Piper agreed.

"Ok! We'll play 'Truth or Dare'. Any objections? No? Then let's play. I'm good a this, so good luck!" Percy decided, but he sounded a bit michevious when he said that last part.

I was kind of excited to have something to do, so I shouted, "I'll go first! Annabeth... Truth or Dare?"
