Chapter 5: This is Normal Right?
After that night, everything got a bit quieter. The only time we really saw the two wolf packs was at school.
It was tense to say the least. At some point I heard Stiles and Scott talking, Stiles saying something about the hero assassins and then Scott saying they weren't assassins...probably.
I just hide a smirk and saw look do the same, we were totally assassins.
Speaking of heroic, Boyd, the one who almost got impaled by his Alpha, still wasn't in school. Derek Hale also seemed to go MIA for the day, I wasn't that worried.
He was probably just nervous about almost hurting his Beta, he would probably come back in the next day or two.
"What are we going to do?" Luke asked as we stood by the black car the retired assassins let us use for transportation.
It was either the black Lexus LFA or taking the bus where we could be overheard and don't have an excuse for suddenly asking the bus driver to drop us off at a random place.
Black Lexus LFA:
I was just happy that it was a fast car and looked awesome. Of course girls swarmed us but Luke and I let them down gently.
"We are going to meet the convenient neighbors, The McCall Family." I said opening the driver said as Luke got into the passenger.
Luke looked a bit pleased as we started the drive, just a bit, over the speed limit toward our home.
I was thankful that we still had a few hours before dinner, there wasn't any rush into making the cookies. The problem was that Luke always tried to eat them when they were just out of the oven.
"Stop it." I slapped Luke's wondering hand that was hovering over the freshly baked cookies. On the sheet were a dozen and there was still two batches to go with only an hour and a half left.
"But Percy." Luke whinned and feeling considerate, let him think he stole one behind my back. When he reached for another one I slowed down time for him and quickly whipped around, wooden spoon in hand, and slapped his hand. Hard.
Letting time back in place I heard Luke swear in a lot of color as he held his hand away from me and more importantly, the tray of cookies.
"No more." I said and glared deciding that the evil, you will never do that again, glare was necessary.
Luke just pouted and I counted back from 10, "Leave or I will drown you." I deadpanned and when Luke raised a challenging eyebrow.
I just turned the sink on and when I looked back, Luke was suddenly not there.
Feeling pleased I turned the sink off and went back to baking the cookies that I knew from heart. The only thing I changed was that it was probably not a good idea to add blue food coloring, didn't want to come off weird now did I?
As soon as the cookies were baked, wrapped in plastic no a plate, and Luke was no longer pouting. We started our way toward the McCall house.
"This is weird." Luke muttered just as I used the knocker, and well, knocked on the door.
"Don't be such a wuss." I muttered back to Luke just as the door opened and let out a shy smile, even after so many years. Social contact was no longer my strong suit, especially when I'm not on some sort of mission or as Sicarius The Great Assassin and Leader.
"Hello?" A woman with dark hair, brown I think, that matched her eyes answered the doors. She looked tired but slightly refreshed, she was wearing hospital scrubs, "My name is Percy and this is Luke. We moved in next door and we brought cookies." I said awkwardly and felt relieved when Ms.McCall gave us a smile.
"I tell you what, I was just about to start dinner. You are welcome to stay and join my son and his friend." She said opening the door just a bit wider but not all the way.
"Dinner sounds lovely." Luke replied and when Ms.McCall opened the door all the way we went into the room and found that the stairs were just at the base of it off to the side slightly.
"Scott, we have two guests with us." Ms.McCall yelled up to the stairs where Scott and Isaac were.
"Scott? As in Scott McCall? We go to school with him. Right Luke?" I asked Luke with this sort of questioning facial expression.
"I think so." Luke said furrowing his eyebrows like he was pretending to think about what I asked.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you did." Ms.McCall said as she lead us toward the kitchen where a red pot was boiling.
"You guys don't mind Spaghetti do you?" The kind woman asked and she reminded me kinda of my mom, I quickly put on a fake smile, "Spaghetti sounds lovely Ms.McCall." I said trying to push the thoughts of mom away, she's been dead for a while now and it still gets to me.
"Oh please, call me Malissa." She said as she got the packs of Spaghetti. Luke pushed my shoulder gently and had a questioning piercing look in his eyes.
I just shrugged it off and acted like everything was normal, Luke and I both know it wasn't quite true.
My attention was brought to two steps hurrying down the stairs, "I smell Spaghetti." Scott said and if I would have known better, his mouth would've been drooling.
"Set the table." Melissa said and decided I could do it, it wasn't like I had anything better.
"I can help." I said quickly and at Scott's questioning look I shrugged, "We moved in next door and brought cookies."
Scott seemed to take this fine as he lead me over to the pantry, "Utensils are in the left hand draw beside the sink." Scott said grabbing the plates as Isaac grabbed the glasses for drinks.
"Thanks." I said and quickly found the items and helped the other two set the table.
Soon enough, we were sitting around the table and digging into our meals, if Luke and I haven't been here I'm sure Scott and Isaac would've vacuumed their food done.
"So, what brings you to Beacon Hills?" Melissa asked making Scott and Isaac pause then act like they haven't. But I could tell they were listening to ever word I said carefully.
"We recently lost some family of ours, the only family we had were already moving here. So we sorta just tagged along." Luke said shrugging like it wasn't a big deal, it wasn't that much of a lie either.
We did loose some other assassin members, they were lead by another leader, under my command of course, and no matter what people say. We are a family and when someone looses their own, we respect them and honor them.
As for the tagging along, Chaos had sent us here to our family. Retired Assassins are still family and they were going to move here anyway, we just got lucky.
So this mission was very helpful when it came to werewolves knowing when someone is lying. I was just happy that Isaac and Scott just nodded and continued to eat.
"I'm so sorry to hear about your family." Melissa said sadly and looked hesitant about something.
"You can ask whatever is on your mind." I said calmly and reassuring her that we wouldn't be offended.
"Are you two brothers? Because you don't really look alike." Melissa asked after a moment and I paused eating in surprised.
"We aren't related. Our families were very close though, so after my mother went...insane is a better term, I lived with Percy." Luke started wincing when he talked about his mother and ignored the pity looks.
"So when I had to move, Luke was welcomed with and we both live here now." I finished trying to draw the attention away from Luke and the subject.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Melissa said.
"It's quite alright Ms-Melissa, this food is wonderful by the way." Luke said drawing the attention away from the previous subject.
Everyone seemed to know and decided to join in as Scott and Isaac agreed as they inhaled another plate.
"Alright you two, save room for cookies." Melissa said amused yet, probably a bit disgusted as how much they eat.
The word 'cookies' made them both perk up, "I baked them." I said carefully after dinner and everyone was practically inhaling the food, even Luke.
I rolled my eyes and smacked Luke's hand, "Stop it, they are for the McCall family, not your stomach." I said and saw Luke pout. I just rolled my eyes and ignored him.
"These are very well Percy, would you mind sharing with me how you made them?" Melissa asked and after an inner debate, and seeing Scott and Isaac both perk up at the suggestion, I just nodded slowly.
"Wonderful news, but Percy and I need to start heading back. We have some homework we need to finish." Luke said as an excuse. What we really wanted to do was more research over these missing people and whatever the hell this town is up to.
"Speaking of homework." Melissa said giving her son and his friend a certain look.
After a few more minutes of talking we were at the door and saying goodbyes to Melissa and her family.
"It was wonderful to meet you." Melissa said as she lead us out the door, "Thank you for the cookies and writing down the recipe, I promise to be careful with it."
"Thanks." I replied truly thankful, after telling her about how I learned it, and more specifically how taught me, she told me she would be careful and I trusted her with the secret cookie recipe of the Jackson Family.
"I say the night went well." Luke said as he flopped on his bed.
I was staring out the window, and toward the McCall House in thought, "I think we have to be careful. Especially tonight, I think Scott and Isaac are still suspicious. Stiles wasn't there either and I think he's mostly the brains when none of them realize." I clasped my hands behind my back.
"Guess we have our work cut out for us." Luke muttered flipping through the pages of the history textbook, which I had already mesmerized on Chaos World, this is what you get Luke when you don't.
"I believe so." I muttered deep in thought. What does Beacon Hill have in store for us?
