Devourer
Sorry, only one chapter this week, editing Unyielding Flames so that it's readable, and also working on Nameless Heroes, while trying to make the chapters of Percival's Knights less confusing. Hope this chapter isn't too confusing.
Leone turned, that scent. Terra looked towards the forest behind her as well. They could smell her. Genesis. Jay smiled, "You overheard?" Genesis walked out of the bushes, "Yes, and I would like to argue on the case of who the strongest reptile is." Clay grinned, "Jenny! Look! I'm alive! Aren't you happy to see me?" Reyna turned to Genesis and nodded, Genesis looked into Reyna's eyes in silence until Reyna turned away. "Yes, I think that the whole world will be happy that you're alive. However..." She turned to the left and pointed, "Have any of you noticed that?"
The beast was in human form, and it tilted its head. "You can see me?" Genesis grinned, "You're that one aren't you?" Its face... Was extremely creepy. It's eyes were wide, as if focusing on each and every one of them, but they just seemed so... hungry. It's mouth was a flat line. It was a human face, but the Creature of Chaos also made it a lot less on the living side. Not that it was missing skin or anything, if anything, it had skin smoother than Genesis. "I'm what one? Do you know this face?" Genesis got into a battle stance, "Disarray."
Genesis shot towards the beast, and it seemed like it didn't move, it simply appeared somewhere else. Terra slithered forward on her stomach, in such a motion that didn't seem possible for a human, for it was at such an incredible speed, as if she were a giant snake. Leone jumped into the air to catch it off guard, but it again appeared in a completely different spot. Jay looked to Gale, "The dagger, where is it?" Gale pointed to Terra, who seemed to be checking her pockets. "Y-you delivered it?" Terra nodded. Jay looked at the beast, "That's not good. This means..." The creature pulled out the dagger, "Loooking for thiiiissss?"
"She can control time?" Clay frowned, "Then why hasn't she finished us yet?" Reyna shook her head, "Obviously she doesn't know how to kill us, but have you noticed that the two are getting injured each time they attack?" Jay frowned, "You two! Come back here, we'll handle it." Terra frowned, "But-" "Just get back, you're not invincible." Terra clenched her fist, and Leone set her jaw. They jumped back, but as soon as they did, Jay could feel it. The time, it had changed. It did something. Genesis shot forward and grabbed the two kids. Jay frowned, was it too late? Disarray frowned, "What do you think you're-" "Her specialty is illusions. Don't trust your senses." "Then what do we trust?"
Genesis grinned as her tongue flicked out of her mouth. She closed her eyes. Disarray tilted her head, she's going to use taste? Pointless. Suddenly Genesis darted forward, her forked tongue flicking out of her mouth. "You don't know much about snakes? Considering that you serve one." Jay grinned, "I see. Terra, come." His pupils changed to vertical slits and he closed his eyes, "Go!"
Genesis jumped onto Disarray, the real Disarray this time. It frowned, "I blocked your sense of taste..." Genesis opened her mouth. "How did you find me?" Genesis smiled, "Snakes don't taste with their tongues." Terra grinned, "Snakes use their tongues to smell." Jay got It into a hold, "Go!" Terra wrapped around It, and Genesis moved in for the kill. Jay got caught in the moment and forgot, "Wait! Genesis! What do you think you're-" It was too late, but from the look on her face, he could tell that she knew. She wasn't caught in the moment, she was ready. She pulled out her blade and tossed it to Gale, "Give it to my friends okay, the one named Loki. Give it to him." Gale took it and nodded, "I'll see you there Jenny." Genesis smiled, "I love you." Gale nodded, biting his lips, trying to hold back his tears. "Crybaby." "Freak." Clay frowned, "Jenny, but we haven't gotten to talk yet..." She grinned, "When the game ends, maybe I'll get to see you again." Reyna smiled, "Say hi to Percival for me." Genesis felt tears rolling down her cheeks, that's right, she would see Percival again. Terra looked at Jay, "She's going to kill Disarray? Without her blade?" Jay nodded, "Yes, but when It dies, so will Genesis." Terra's eyes widened as she remembered the death of Merlin in the forest. "No, but..." But she's a good person! I know that now! Why do so many good people have to die?
Genesis' irises turned red, as she moved in on the beast. She opened her mouth, and devoured the beast. Her vision blurred, it would switch from light to dark, and light to dark. In each light she saw a different picture, in one picture, she saw Jay and Terra. In the other picture, she saw Percival and Blue. "I'm coming."
Loki jolted off the ground, it was night, but there was something wrong. He could tell, a star disappeared from the sky and he frowned, Genesis...
Clay, Gale, Jay, Reyna, Leone, and Terra proceeded to bury Genesis. In her sack, they had found the seeds. They placed a seed on top and covered it with dirt. The tree quickly grew, and its roots wrapped around Genesis. Jay smiled, "Tell the old man we all said hello." Then, they all fell to the ground, and cried.
