Two people had decided to take a tour with a fishing boat. Well, the younger one begged for that, if someone wanted to be exact. The reflection of the sun glistened on the ocean waves which carried their ship softly out to the sea. Above them flew birds, dotting the cerulean plane with small points of different colors. A smile appeared on the blue-haired country. This was the perfect day to take a trip.
He leaned on the rail on the heck, staring out to the endless horizon. His older brother meanwhile steered the boat, looking at the younger one.
Suddenly, something caught the eye of the blue-haired country. In the distance was something. As they closed in, he recognized the shape. It was familiar. He had seen something like this.
A crashed plane.
Before he even had the chance to wonder, something else entered his vision. There, on some debris, lied someone. Without thinking, he jumped over the rail and swam towards it. Whoever this person was, they needed help.
"PHIL", his brother shouted.
Instead of answering, he continued towards the unconscious person. When he was close enough, he realized, it was a girl or a young woman. Her face was unknown to him, as was the flag. However, that didn't mean he would just leave her to die in the middle of the ocean.
"MARTIAL! HELP ME!" Just as he finished the sentence, his brother leaned over the rail. His odd eyes were wide and his brows scrunched up a little. "Phil! Are you alright?" "I'm fine kuya. But she needs help", Phil answered, his gaze switching between his older brother and the woman in his arms. For a moment, Martial stared at him with confusion. Phil wasn't easy to upset but this girl needed his help. He felt her shallow breaths hitting his skin. At least she was still alive. "Martial! Just get us up there!" One could hear it in his voice that he was getting impatient.
This hauled the older one back to reality.
Once they had gotten her on deck, Phil inspected her. She looked rather young but he knew that even countries which were like 200 years old, most often looked like they were just 20. Wet hair framed her face as it clung to her cheeks. It was red, like his brother's. The red of her face was interrupted by one white stripe. It emphasized the dark bags under her closed eyes.
He put a hand on her shoulder. Par a few bruises, she seemed to be alright. "Who is she? Better yet why is she here?" "I don't know, but I couldn't just leave her to die", Philip replied, gazing at his brother for a minute. While Phil could be dense in a lot of ways, he wasn't dumb. He knew, Martial had issues with trust. For him, this girl could be a danger. Yet, Philip had to help her. Somehow, deep inside, he knew this girl wasn't dangerous.
His eyes wandered back to said girl. Then he shook her lightly. "Hey", he whisper-yelled. The girl groaned, which was a good sign. Her face scrunched up and she flinched once she opened her eyes. For a moment, Phil's world stopped.
Golden orbs gazed into his odd-colored ones. With the exception of his brother and mother, he had never seen anyone with this eye color.
She blinked a couple times. All of the sudden her eyes snapped wide open and she shot up, hitting Phil's head on its way. "Ow", both said in unison. While Phil rubbed his forehead, the girl put her hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry. I was just... surprised." "Don't worry", Phil answered.
Suddenly, the facial expression of the girl changed. Her brows curved upwards, knitting together above her nose. She blanched and scooted back, until she hit the rail. The redhead scanned her surroundings. With shaking hands she took ahold of the rail.
At first, Phillip had no clue what she was doing. However, once he got a glimpse of her eyes, he recognized an emotion he knew all too well.
Fear.
He hadn't seen anyone so scared, but he knew how fear showed. The blue-haired country looked up to his brother. Even through the stone-cold facial expression, Phil noticed a notion in those odd-colored eyes. Despite them being narrowed and even though his brows were furrowed slightly, they still showed feelings.
Since he didn't seem to do anything to help the young woman, Phil stood up and walked towards her.
Almost immediately, the girl pressed herself against the rail. Then she pulled her legs up to her chest. As Phil closed in, she crossed her arms in front of her face. At the same time, her trembling increased times ten.
It nearly broke Phillip to see her in such a state. No one should ever feel that threatened. "P-Please don't... hurt me." If his heart were made out of glass, this voice would be the sledgehammer shattering it. It was nothing more than a broken whisper.
He knelt down in front of her. Phil had never been in the situation to comfort someone in this state. However, he remembered the way his brother had soothed him when he was younger.
So, he took a deep breath. "Everything will be okay. I won't hurt you. You're safe with us." At first, Phillip debated with himself, if this would work. To his surprise, the girl in front of him peeked at him through her crossed arms. Again, the gold caught him by surprise. This time though, it shone brighter due to the tears collected in it. Now, Phil began to wonder how he should continue. It had never been this bad with him in the past. "Shh, it's alright. Trust me. You're safe." After he finished this sentence, the redhead slowly lowered her arms.
"I'm sorry", she whispered and looked at the ground. Phil cocked his head. Before he had the ability to ask her what she meant, she continued. "It's just... bad memories... you know?" Her voice was a little bit stronger than before, yet still low to hear. Phillip had a vague idea about what the girl was talking about. Like stated before, Phil may be dense at times, but by no means an idiot. He hummed in response, not really knowing what he could say.
Once more the girl looked around. She wiped her tears away or at least that was her intention. But she realized that her whole body was soaking wet. Before she could ask where she was, Martial spoke: "You're on our boat." Phil nodded. "I found you floating on a piece of debris and brought you here." Golden eyes focused back on him. Her gaze altered between him and his brother. "Uh... Thank you?" While Phil wondered why she sounded so unsure, Martial asked what she was doing here. "Yeah, what happened?"
The girl averted her gaze for a moment. "I wanted to... fly a plane again. But... out of the blue, the engines stopped working. I guess, they were faulty?" So, this girl had flown a plane before. Maybe she learned to be a pilot. "And why did you fly over the pacific?" "Martial. That's not important now", Phil replied and turned his head to his brother. They stared at each other for a moment.
Then Phil focused his attention back to the girl. "Don't mind it. My brother is... peculiar. But he just wants the best. He's a nice person." The ghost of a smile traced over the redhead's lips. "I'm Philip. And you are?" "A-Austria", the girl answered. That name sounded familiar to one of Joe's brothers. But he knew for a fact that Austria and Australia were different people.
For a minute, Philip thought about what to do. The injuries of this girl weren't severe. Nonetheless, he had to get her to his home. She needed clothes, water and food. But his decision had been made the moment he brought her on deck. "How about you stay at our home for a few days? Just so you can recover?" Without even looking back, he knew the incredulous expression on Martial's face. "Seriously?" "Come with me. I'll get you to the cabin", he said, completely ignoring his brother, "Can you walk on your own or do you need help?"
Austria shook her head and told him, she could do it on her own. Indeed, she was able to follow him. Phil noticed how Martial glared at the girl through narrowed eyes. It was clear, he didn't like this.
Once they reached the only cabin on this boat, Phil offered her to sit down. Austria complied and sat on the hammock. Meanwhile, Phil searched for some clothes in the chest. They had some in there, just because.
He pulled out a shirt and shorts. "Here, change into that. They should fit, even though they're meant for guys." Austria nodded. A few seconds passed in which Austria stared at Phil. "Uh, can you... go out?" He felt warmth spreading over his face as he blushed slightly. "Y-Yeah. Sorry." With that he went outside.
As soon as he closed the door behind him. Martial stood in front of him. "Are you seriously taking her home?" "Yes kuya", he replied, looking straight into his brother's eyes. "She could be dangerous, you know that?" "Yes. I do. But she needs help. She won't stay for long. A week. Two at most." Martial sighed in defeat, burying his face in his hand. "Okay. But I will keep a close eye on her. Just to be careful." A huge smile painted itself over Phil's face.
"I can live with that."
