Annabeth finally tore herself away from his endearing eyes and gorgeous face , with much difficulty , might I add .

She blushed on thinking how bad she wanted to kiss him , her hormones were out of hand but she somehow got them under her control so she fled the scene before things got out of control.

' we were having a moment and you just had to ruin it ' she scolded herself

Meanwhile , Percy , who was yet again processing things for the second time of the week helplessly saw annabeth run away to her class .

He couldn't move , his feet were stuck no matter how much he ordered them too move

Finally , when the feeling returned to his legs , he ran , desperate to find annabeth .

' I am not gonna let her escape again , not when I have something to say '
he thought as he ran after her through the crowd of students saying 'excuse me's and 'sorry's .

It didn't take long to reach her after he got through the crowds , the fact that he had long legs also helped .

" annabeth ? " he called

No reply

" annabeth ? " he called , once again but this time a bit louder .

No reply

She definately was in earshot but she chose to ignore him . Her heart ached to say something , maybe even stop .
But she couldn't , she wouldn't and Percy also knew that

' I wonder why ' he thought sarcastically

" Wise girl , please answer me " he said , voice full of desperation , love and a thousand other emotions that only annabeth could understand .

On those words , annabeth stopped right in her tracks

' He didn't '
'but he did '

He knew if he used her nickname , she would stop .
And along with the way he said it , it couldn't be easier to stop .
So she did so .

" what do you want " she asked coldly

" can I please talk to you , without you storming away ? "
She stiffened

" you have 1 minute 47 seconds till class starts " she stated , her tone remaining unchanged

" annabeth , wise girl , I am sooo sorry . I didn't mean to hurt you at all - "

" but you did " she added

" that's the point , I didn't , Jason found out that Inez was giving me a kind of potion ? Whatever hectate makes you know "

" Yeah sure and I'm a which from Harry potter ! " she said sarcastically then added

" likely story "

" no , no hear me out , she asked a friend of hers , a daughter of hectate to make it and slipped it to me every once a week . "

" what does this potion do exactly ? "

" it brings out the very very worst in you , makes you do the thoughts that are in the very very back of you mind , like the thoughts I can't even reach or consider "

He took a deep breath and continued

" she expected me to break up with you out of jealousy the day you came home with Ben for your project but I wouldn't even dream of doing that so it made me do things that made you mad and instead of me breaking up with you , you broke up with me "

She remembered that evening as clear as day . She had gotten a project in her architecture class , they had to make a blueprint of a building. Her project partner was Ben and she had invited him to their apartment to complete it . She forgot to tell Percy and he didn't take the news well , knowing Ben had a crush on Annabeth . The whole evening was awkward with ben faking being sweet and Percy sending him glares when he wasn't looking . Annabeth tried to make the more friendly but it was impossible , it was like you could cut the tension with a knife ...

when Percy explained about their situaution , Annabeth deep down believed him , deep down she really did . She wanted to go back to him like old times , but She didn't , her pride was coming in the way . She felt like it was all her fault they broke up and if she went back , it would prove her wrong judgement , total obliviousness correct , more over , it meant she didn't comsidet all the possibilities , completely neglected the actual one and didn't test all the theories of why he was acting that way

While she was thinking , Percy was waiting patiently , she had the I-am-thinking-do-not-dare-disturb-me . He remained calm and collected even though he was hurting inside , his patience was betraying him and the silence was deathly .

He stayed impossibly quiet while she was thinking till he couldn't anymore

"Well?"

Annabeth glared at him but her glare somewhat softened when she saw the desperation in his eyes , he was sure it was obvious to a blind person , much less to annabeth .

" Well what ? "

" can we please go back to the way we were before wall this happened ? I love you annabeth , I can't live without you . Please be mine again . I can't imagine life without you . Without you it's completely and utterly useless. Please can we go back to the way we were again " he asked

" no , I'm sorry Percy , the wound is too deep and the damage had been done ." her heart ached as she said those words but she couldn't .

Percy dreaded those words , he absolutely defeated them but nevertheless understood them . He knew that even if she had said yes , the horrible tension would still be present there . Would just forget those events that happened , they would remain there . He also knew she needed time , if she loved him , she would first have to accept her feelings and that was no easy feat for a person whose fatal flaw was pride . And if they were truly meant to be , they would come back together . Stronger than ever .

" can we at least be friends , for the sake of the gang , things will be awkward on Saturday if we aren't talking . " he whispered the last part

Annabeth smiled , a nice genuine smile .

" Yeah , sure , I would like that "

Percy let out a sigh of relief he never really knew he was holding .

" cool "

" so what's your next class ? " Annabeth asked eager to change the subject .
" science "

" same "

And so they went to class together talking about anything and everything , once more , but this time , as friends not lovers , yet ....
