oneshot #37: his hoodies

miyuthefangirl , this one's for you.

Annabeth didn't really know why she did it. It was just kind of happened.

She was sitting in her room at her dad's house, bored.

Bored, bored, bored.

She'd burned herself out reading, and designing buildings she'd never actually get to see built seemed pointless right now. Her homework was long done, and she was no where near any of her friends.

So when she was sitting on the edge of her bed, deciding what she could do with herself, and spotted Percy's hoodie, she couldn't help herself.

It was blue, of course, and since Annabeth hadn't been able to see Percy for a few weeks it was worn often.

Annabeth held the soft fabric close to her face and took a deep breath. She couldn't wait to see him again. Surprisingly, it still smelled of him...which sounded weird, but Annabeth had been hoping it would. Anything to make it seem like she had him, right there next to her.

She slipped it over her head and stepped in front of her full-length mirror, observing the oversized and vibrant hoody, the way it hugged her body. She'd made this hoody hers when she had left to visit Frederick, promising Percy she'd give it back.

A promise she knew she didn't have to keep.

The longer Annabeth looked at herself in the mirror, the more she was reminded of Percy. His unruly black hair, his soft lips, his playful and sparkling green eyes.

His lopsided smile.

Annabeth tried to imitate it. She curled her lips in a smirk, his stupid smirk. She pulled her shoulders back to imitate his broad shoulders, and thought of what he would say.

“I'm going to drown my blue pancakes in syrup, because I'm a Seaweed Brain,” she said, lowering her voice. It was nothing close to Percy's, but she had to admit this was enjoyable.

She grabbed the nearest pen and held it out in front of her, looking at it strangely. “Who knew my pen could write?”

Then she laughed at her own antics.

“Hey, Wise Girl, is there a hole in your shoe? Of course there is, that's how you got your foot in!” She said this with a bit of contempt, recalling his stupid joke from a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't funny at the time, and it wasn't funny now. But it was definitely something he would say.

“My head's full of seaweed, I only eat blue food!”

“Jason! Bro!”

She stuck her hands on her hips and leaned forward, racking her brain for something else Percy-related.

“Not bad.”

Annabeth froze. That one hadn't been her. “Percy?”

The door creaked open, and there he was.

She forgot about what she had been doing. A little squeal-like noise came from her throat and she jumped on him with a hug.

“Seaweed Brain! How did you get here?”

Percy laughed. “A magician never reveals his secrets.” He looked down at her. “I see you had no trouble without me.”

Annabeth felt color rise to her cheeks. What could she say to that? There wasn't much.

Honestly, she didn't care. Percy was here, right now.

And he'd brought a new hoodie.
