Oneshot #13: Sweatshirts and Smiles

Hey demigods!

Quick heads up, this piece is for a contest.

lylacxox hey Soph! This is my entry for your contest. I'm warning you ahead, it's really really short. Probably one of the shortest things I've ever written and published. Let me know if you want me to do something different that's a bit longer :)

Anyways.

Enjoy!

Sweatshirts and Smiles

Prompt:

“Stop stealing my sweatshirts!”

“No, they’re too comfy.”

Contestant: Grace - @Halfbloodkeeper

Annabeth balanced her textbooks in one hand, twisting the combination for the lock on her locker with the other.

She was still getting used to high school, long, stressful days, but rewarding ones.

Annabeth enjoyed learning more than a lot of things, and even though the dark circles under her eyes proved she was aiming for perfect A’s, she was loving the experience.

Not to mention—

“Guess who!” A pair of callused hands had been wrapped around her face, blocking her view.

“Percy, I know it’s you. This is getting really old,” she responded. And even though it was true, she couldn’t keep the smile off of her face every time.

And then, the love of her life stepped out from behind her, unwrapping his arms from her head.

Percy pouted, his lips curled downwards dramatically, his eyebrows furrowed. Annabeth thought he looked absolutely adorable, with his book bag slung over his shoulder, his raven hair as unruly as ever.

“You’re no fun, Wise Girl.”

Annabeth gasped, putting a hand to her heart. “I am so fun.”

Percy dropped the act, laughing a genuine laugh. “Yeah, you’re pretty fun.”

Annabeth nodded, reaching for his hand and pulling him towards the cafeteria. “How was physics?”

Percy frowned. “Boring as ever. I aced the test you helped me study for, though.”

Annabeth’s eyes lit up. “That’s my boy.”

Percy looked at her with one of his lopsided, goofy smiles.

Then he frowned. “Is that my sweatshirt?”

Annabeth looked down.

As a matter of fact, it was. Somehow, in her exhausted state this morning, she had thrown on one of his swim hoodies. “I didn’t even notice.”

Percy crossed his arms. His pouty face returned, this time mocking annoyance. “Stop stealing my sweatshirts!”

“No, they’re too comfy.”

“I know! That’s why wear them.”

Annabeth pulled the hood over her head. “Well, this one’s mine now.”

Percy laid his arm over her shoulders. “Alright, alright. But only because I love you. Also, you look so adorable.”

Annabeth melted in his embrace. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“I sure hope so.”

As they went to sit down at their lunch table, Percy froze.

Annabeth’s back was to him.

The sweatshirt read:

JACKSON

Percy smiled.

One day.

Oookay.

The cringe is real.

But, it is what it is.

I hope you enjoyed!!
Happy Saturday to some of you!

Peace out demigodishness and all that,

~ Grace 💙💙💙
