Soulmates

 A/N: Hey hey hey. I is back! I was really busy with school ever since the beginning of 2015, and when summer came, I had writer's block. So, I hope you guys enjoy.

"Isn't Percabeth the cutest couple ever?!"

"I know right? They're practically made to be with each other!"

"Even their heights are ideal for a couple!"

Drew clenched her teeth every time one of her siblings gushed about them. After a few more minutes of squeals and fangirling noises, Drew cracked.

"What's so great about them anyways?" she snapped.

The group of Aphrodite children that were talking about Percy and Annabeth all turned to look at Drew, who was fuming with no reasonable explanation.

"Huh?" said Mitchell, one of Drew's half-brothers. "What do you mean?"

"Why are they better than any other couples?!"

"Well..."trailed off Lacy. "They saved each other's lives many times, and were best friends since they were twelve."

"Yeah! And they'd do anything for each other. You can tell by the way they look at one another," said Mitchell. "They're practically perfect in every way."

Drew couldn't help the relentless pit of jealousy from clawing at her, and she didn't know why. It wasn't like she found Percy attractive to the point of stealing him away from Annabeth, but every time someone gushed about them it hit a nerve in Drew."You know, I'll make the biggest Percabeth fan in this cabin a bet," said Drew.

"And that'd be me," said Mitchell, and no one protested. "What kind of bet are you talking about?"

"I'll bet you that Percabeth won't last for a week, starting today," sneered Drew. "Whoever loses the bet has to miss the fireworks show next week."

"You're on!"

Drew strutted out of the cabin in a show of confidence, but once she was outside she dropped the façade. She didn't have a plan, and she knew Percy and Annabeth would be hard to break up. As Drew was basking in her problem, she bumped into a guy.

"Oh, sorry!"

Drew looked up to see what looked like an Apollo guy: sun-kissed blond hair and sky blue eyes.

 "Hey, my name's Drew."

"Tyler. I hope you didn't fall as hard as a twelve foot beam with only a one foot squared base!" (A/N: idk)

"What did you say?"

Tyler blushed. "It was an architecture joke. I know, pretty nerdy."

Suddenly, there was a spark in Drew's head. She grinned. "Well, Tyler, meet me here tomorrow at noon and I'd love to show you someone that'd actually get your joke."

;

"Hey, Percy, do you believe in soulmates?"

The question caught the boy off guard. He was talking to Connor Stoll about basketball when Drew decided to join in on the conversation.

"Um...actually not really. I mean, sure, there's people who are more compatible with others but for there to be just that one person that you're destined to end up with, I'm not sure."

"'Kay, cause I'm pretty sure I found Annabeth's."

Percy wrinkled his eyebrows together. "Who?"

"Tyler. He's a son of Apollo."

Percy had a look of shock plastered on his face before he laughed nervously. "Are you sure? I mean, who's more suited for Annabeth than me?"

"What's he like?" Connor interrupted. "Might as well get some facts about the guy."

Drew smirked. "He likes architecture, books in general, and orange juice and lemon scented shampoo."

"Dang! Percy, you've got competition. Thanks for the orange juice part, by the way. I'll make sure to add a little spice to it next time," Connor said with a devious grin.

"Don't worry, Percy. Maybe you'll find someone else. Oh, bye guys. I got to go to archery!"

 Which a lie. Drew didn't do archery, and even if the fate of the world was up to Drew touching a bow and arrow, the world would be screwed. Thankfully, the boys didn't notice.As she walked away, Drew caught a glimpse of a very troubled Percy, and cackled internally.

;

Percy was disturbed, for a lack of a better word. He and Annabeth were taking their daily jog around camp, and all Percy could think about was if Tyler was as similar to Annabeth as Drew had said. He felt a little better when Annabeth teased him about being a Seaweed Brain as he was zoning out and thinking about the Tyler problem. They caught up on their day, and Percy felt more confident. Who's to say this Tyler dude was going to sweep Annabeth off her feet and carry her away into the sunset? Who's to say Tyler could even try to take Annabeth, Percy's girlfriend, away? Just as he was feeling quite normal, he heard someone shout out Annabeth's name. Percy turned around to see the horrifying image of Drew dragging a tanned blond guy behind her. Annabeth had a confused look on her face.

 "Hey, Annabeth! This is Tyler," Drew said, pulling a dazed Tyler next to her.

  "Um, hi?" It was more aimed towards Drew than Tyler. Annabeth narrowed her eyes.

"Anyways, how's your day?" Drew asked. "Me and Tyler went to the library."

 "I can't believe they didn't have The Principles of Structure by Antoine Lessaive, or The Great Gatsby! What kind of library is that?" Tyler said.

"I know right! That's exactly what I said!" Annabeth exclaimed.

  "You like architecture and books?" Tyler said, his blue eyes twinkling.

 "Of course! I'm a daughter of Athena; I have an obligation." Annabeth laughed.

"Cool, our tables are right next to each other. Want to talk about the defects of the Neval Theorem?" (A/N: Totally made that up.)

 "Heck yeah, let's go!" Percy watched on helplessly as the horn blew for lunch and Annabeth and Tyler walked away to their tables, chatting amiably. Percy was going to go and strangle Drew, but she was already gone. Percy sat down at the Poseidon table, hands clenched as he saw Tyler trying to move closer to Annabeth until he almost fell off the Apollo table's bench.

;

Percy walked around camp with a knot settling in his stomach and chest. When Annabeth asked him if he wanted to climb the rock wall with her and Tyler, Percy almost refused. Almost. But then he thought he wasn't going to go down without a fight. So he accepted. Worst idea of his life. Tyler and Annabeth were both faster than him, so every time Percy looked up he was met with a facefull of rock dust. The worst part was hearing Tyler flirting with Annabeth and making chivalrous moves, like when Annabeth slipped he would give her a hand and boost her up.

 "You know, one day I'll build a house so magnificent, you'd come and live in it with me," Tyler said to Annabeth with a blindingly white smile.

 Percy gagged. "What, are you going to build a car next?"

 Tyler looked down at Percy from above. "No? I'm into buildings, not locomotives."

 Oh for Pete's sake why can't the guy just say cars?

 "If you're going to build a house, you better make the best one. I can't bear not getting the top grade in class," said Annabeth.

"Really? Me too!" Tyler exclaimed as he helped Annabeth up again. Percy grunted with exertion as he pulled himself up and scraped his knee against the wall.

"Yeah, Percy isn't really that competitive, though." Annabeth turned to smile at Percy affectionately.

"Really? I can't believe you're dating the guy."

 "What's THAT supposed to mean?" Percy growled.

"Well, it's just that I really want to win, and wouldn't want my partner to drag me down."

 Percy wanted to stab the guy with a knife. Multiple times. Before Annabeth or Percy could say anything else, they reached the top where Travis was yelling at them to get out of the way so he can throw paint balls at Katie Gardner, who was behind them. Afterwards, they walked down the beach and Percy tried to use the water to heal his bloody knee.

  "Hey, you know what? We can build our dream house together!"

 "Ooooh, an architecture project? I'm in!" exclaimed Annabeth. "Now we just gotta find the perfect place."

 They walked along with a grumbling Percy at tow. He swore when they found their perfect spot and cheered.

;

Nighttime came, and there was a campfire. Percy sat down next to Annabeth, who beamed at him. When Tyler sat down on the other side of Annabeth, Percy glared daggers into the back of Tyler's head. The night went on and it was time for songs. When Tyler picked up a guitar and announced he was dedicating this song for Annabeth, Percy wanted to gut him and then feed his corpse to the wolves. The only thing keeping Percy there as Tyler serenaded Annabeth was her hand intertwined with Percy's. When Tyler was done, he started chatting with Annabeth until Percy had enough. He murmured a 'bye, I'm going to get some rest' in Annabeth's ear before untangling his hand with hers and heading towards his cabin. Percy didn't catch the concerned look Annabeth shot at him as he walked away.

 Percy didn't even bother with a shower, and stripped to his boxers and climbed into bed. Distraught thoughts poured into Percy's mind.

Maybe Tyler is better for Annabeth. He is actually attentive when Annabeth goes on her architecture rants. Unlike me, who zones out. After all, what is he compared to the serenading suave son of Apollo? I like basketball, skateboarding, and spewing milk out of my nose when laughing. Practically the complete opposite of Annabeth.

Said person interrupted Percy's thoughts as he laid in his bed. Annabeth knocked, then creaked the door of his cabin open and stepped inside. She sat down on his bed, next to him. After a few moments of silence and playing with Percy's fingers, Annabeth spoke up. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"

"Yeah, I know." Percy was tired.

All he wanted to do was sleep and forget this whole day had ever happened so that the knot in his chest might not be so tight in the morning. He knew that he should probably talk to Annabeth about this, but he just needed time to think. Annabeth pursed her lips when Percy's eyelids fluttered closed. She got up and whispered a 'nite' in his ear before leaving his cabin.

;

 "Ugh!" Drew huffed.

She couldn't believe it. Percabeth was still together, even after the whole Tyler business. Not that that business has stopped. Tyler was still flirting with Annabeth, but Annabeth and Percy still kissed and held hands and were in love. Ugh. Love. Being a child of Aphrodite didn't mean Drew had to support love at every corner. She decided Percy was too open and generous. He wasn't capable of the jealousy that would split Percabeth apart. But maybe his partner contained that ability.

Drew smirked and went off to search for the perfect girl to complete her plan.

;

 Percy looked up from his breakfast to see Drew with a pretty brunette girl with dark blue eyes standing in front of him.

"Hey, Percy!" Drew said. "This is Nessa, daughter of Hecate. I thought you were looking lonely-" A sharp glance at the Apollo and Athena tables made Percy clench his fists. "-so I brought you some company."

 Drew promptly left, leaving Nessa standing there quite awkwardly. "Um, hi? I know I can't sit at your table, so I have no idea why Drew even brought me here for breakfast," Nessa said with a roll of her eyes. "Honestly, I think that girl has the brainpower of a pigeon."

Percy laughed. "I think the only thing she'd be offended by in that statement is how her looks are being compared to a pigeon."

"What? She got something against pigeons? Next thing you know, she'll have the burning hatred of a thousand suns for air."

At that, Percy choked on his milk and started to crack up. Soon, Nessa was joining him in his laughter and gasps.

 "You know, I heard you like skateboarding," said Nessa, still tearing up from laughing so hard.

 Percy perked up. "Yeah. It's, like, the best thing ever."

 "I know right! We should go boarding sometime, I'll even show you some tricks." Percy snorted.

"Please. I got all the tricks down pat." Nessa just smirked and said, "We'll see about that."

;

 "Hey, Annabeth, do you believe in soulmates?"

 Annabeth turned around from her conversation with Tyler across the area between the two tables only to be met with the horrendous sight of Drew. Honestly, all Annabeth wanted was to take her daily jog with Percy and not have to deal with whatever Drew's up to.

 "What do you mean?" Annabeth asked, with eyes narrowed.

"Well, do you believe that there's just that one special someone for a person?"

Annabeth didn't trust the devious smile on Drew's face, so she answered slowly. "Well...sort of. I mean, I read too many books to know that the characters usually fall in love with that special someone. So, I'd say it happens, but not often."

 "Really? I guess it happens often enough, because I think I found Percy's soulmate!" Drew practically squealed.

Annabeth snorted. "Well, duh, you're looking at her."

 Drew gave her a pitying look as if saying 'poor, delusional girl'. "Sorry, dearie. I don't think it's you. I met this gorgeous daughter of Hecate and she likes skateboarding and basketball. Not to mention her eyes are Percy's favorite shade of blue!"

Annabeth's eyes zoned in on the Poseidon table where she saw a girl that matched Drew's descriptions and Percy cracking up. Annabeth knew it was unreasonable, like how can one person's opinion be true? But all she could see was red and all logic was swept away from her.

Tyler clearing his throat brought Annabeth back down to earth. He gestured to the fork in Annabeth's hand, which was a little bit bent from Annabeth's clenching fist. She dropped it as if the fork was on fire and stood up abruptly to go to her cabin and clear her thoughts.

;

 "I guess we can go boarding. We have an hour though, before I go jogging with Annabeth," said Percy.

"That's great!" said Nessa with a smile on her face. They both had their boards and were walking towards the smooth blacktop by the Big House.

 "Hey, Grover! Wanna come try skateboarding?" yelled Percy when he spotted his old friend.

"I'm good! I swear skateboards hate me!" shouted Grover. "Maybe next time when I feel like falling."

Percy laughed. "Okay, see you later, man!" "Yeah, catch you later!"

He and Nessa jumped on their boards and began making a circle around the blacktop.

"Hey, Percy. Can you do this?" Nessa continued to do this weird flip thingy that Percy doesn't even know the name to.

"Um."

 "That's what I thought!" Nessa laughed.

 "Oh yeah? Check out this!"

They spent the rest of the hour trying to top one another and yelling insults about it too. They didn't realize a certain blonde was fuming as she watched them from afar.

"Sorry, Nessa. I got to go," said Percy. "Annabeth's probably waiting for me."

"That's okay. Maybe next time you won't be so lucky when you did that move."

"Please. It's not luck, it's skill."

Nessa stuck out her tongue at him and Percy laughed as he made his way to the spot where he and Annabeth usually met for their jog. The only thing is, after an hour, she still hasn't shown up.

;

 "What should I do, Ness? Annabeth's been avoiding me like the plague for the past few days. I don't know what's up with her," Percy lamented as he skipped a rock across the lake.

 Nessa sat next to him, trying to do the same, but frowned when the rock sank on the first skip.

"And the fireworks are today. I'm just really, really...confused. And frustrated."

 "Well, usually when a girl avoids you for no apparent reason, it's because you did something wrong and you don't even know it," explained Nessa. "Why don't you just talk to her or something? Let out your inner emotions or something like that. Aren't you guys dating? It shouldn't be so hard."

 "I know! But it's just...I'm scared, okay? That I've done something horrible and Annabeth's gonna go to the fireworks with Tyler!"

Nessa snorted. "Her? Going to the fireworks with Tyler? Have you seen the way she's been trying to get him off her tail the past few days?"

"Really?" Percy had a dumbfounded expression on his face.

 "Perseus Jackson." Nessa stood up and grabbed him by the shoulders. "Go find Annabeth, right now. And when I say right now, I mean right now. Ask her what's wrong, talk it out, okay?"

Percy gulped. "Yes, ma'am."

"Go ask her to the fireworks right now!"

"Yes, ma'am!" Percy saluted with a grin. "Thanks, Ness!"

He turned and ran towards camp, looking for a certain curly blonde girl with grey eyes.

;

 "Annabeth! Annabeth!"

Annabeth wrinkled her eyebrows. Was there someone calling her name or was it just the wind?

 "ANNABETH!"

Definitely not the wind. She turned to see Percy running towards her. It was getting dark, in an hour the fireworks were supposed to start.

 "Percy?"

"Annabeth," Percy panted. When he reached her, he bent over to catch his breath. "Where the hell have you been?"

Annabeth blushed. "Just...walking." Totally not avoiding you.

"Uh-huh," Percy muttered. "Annabeth, have you been avoiding me?" Shit.

 "No?"

"Was that a question?"

"No?"

"Annabeth, you know you can tell me anything, right?"

"Yeah." Annabeth's shoulders slumped as if in defeat. "It's just that...it was something stupid Drew said, okay? I don't really..."

"Something Drew said?" Percy's eyes narrowed. "Something about...soulmates?"

Annabeth's eyes widened. "Exactly!"

"Yeah, she told me Tyler was supposedly your soulmate, and I guess I almost believed her, from the way you guys hit off," Percy muttered, blushing. "I know that I love you, but it's just this voice in my head telling me I'm not good enough for you."

Annabeth's eyes softened. "Percy..."

"It's okay if you want to go with Tyler, I'll be fine-"

"What?!" Annabeth said angrily. "Tyler? Why would I go with Tyler?"

Percy looked somewhat surprised. "You don't like him? I know Nessa said you don't like him but I thought maybe..."

"No," Annabeth said firmly. "I like you. Nothing's going to change that."

Somehow, and Annabeth doesn't even recall it, they wound up with their arms around each other.

Percy smiled brightly. "So...what's been going on with you these past few days?"

Annabeth blushed even more. "Well, Drew said the same thing to me, only with Nessa, and I guess I got irrationally jealous."

"You, irrational?" Percy teased. "And I thought you were a daughter of Athena."

"Oh, shut up," murmured Annabeth into Percy's shoulder.

"So...go to the fireworks with me?" Percy asked.

Annabeth pulled back from their hug and gave Percy a kiss on the lips and smirked. "I thought you'd never ask."

Together they made their way down to the beach to join the other campers as they waited for the fireworks to start.

;

 Drew heard someone walk up behind her as she sat on the stairs of the Big House.

"Mitchell, I don't want to hear you brag okay? Get the hell out of my face."

"Uh, it's not Mitchell."

Drew turned around to be met with the sight of Pollux. She turned back around and sighed. "Sorry. Just a bit cranky."

Pollux sat down next to her. "So, why're you sitting here when you can be down at the beach?"

"I lost a bet, and now I can't go see the fireworks."

 "Hey, you can still see them over the trees here." Pollux winked. "Maybe you can make an exception."

 Drew felt touched that Pollux would skip seeing the fireworks at the beach and stay here with her. Suddenly, she realized why she detested Percabeth. She was jealous; jealous of their pure, undeniable love for each other, something Drew's never experienced. When the fireworks finally came on, Drew looked at Pollux beside her and thought that she might get her happy ending after all.
