Last Christmas

Last Christmas

Percy saw her again, like he had been seeing her all year. He saw her all through the year. Annabeth Chase. His colleague, whom he had been hopelessly in love with since last year's Christmas party.

He'd met her briefly before the Christmas party, but that was only sometimes a quick 'hello'. They worked on different floors, so Percy didn't see her that much. But there she was. And he was so desperate to go up to her and ask her if she remembered.

--- Last year's Christmas Party ---

After an hour or so at the party Percy went to the roof. He was done with all the drunk people there as he didn't drink alcohol. But he didn't expect to find someone else there. Definitely not Annabeth Chase, the smart architect from the other floor.

"Hello?" Percy asked, he didn't know if he was intruding. "Do I need to go, or -"

Annabeth looked up to him and she had bloodshot eyes and a puffy nose. It didn't match with the beautiful grey dress that she was wearing. "Can you stay, please? I don't want to be alone anymore."

"Yeah of course." Percy replied and walked up to stand next to her.

And with that Percy and Annabeth stayed there for most of the time talking and laughing. It also involved some crying and Annabeth leaning on Percy's shoulder, but he didn't really care.

"I'm sorry I'm so rude, I don't even know from which department you are. Definitely not from the architecture, or I would've seen you earlier. And you're also not some guest or you would not be here. So... from which department are you? I'm from the architecture if that wasn't obvious."

"I am from marine biology you mostly design the buildings for us right? Like rescue shelters etc." With a nod Annabeth I continued. "But I'm mostly away anyways. I'm only here for some paperwork."

Then we talked some more and Annabeth cried some more. She explained that she had broken up with her boyfriend for cheating, but that Annabeth's best friend didn't believe her and that she'd sided with Annabeth's boyfriend.

Then at almost the end of the night something strange happened. Annabeth stood up and began to look Percy straight in the eyes and sometimes looked at his lips.

"Uhm, what are you doing?" He asked, confused. Then he wanted to say something else, but Annabeth leaned in and kissed him. After a moment of shock he relaxed and kissed her back.

But after that Annabeth broke away and said that it was all a mistake and that she was sorry. Then she left and left Percy even more confused and now hopelessly in love with Annabeth Chase.

--- Present ---

From that moment on Annabeth and Percy flirted a little and sometimes stole glares at each other, but Percy didn't know if Annabeth even remembered it all. He was mostly sure. But not one hundred percent.

"I guess I was just a shoulder to cry on." Percy thought as he stood there again at the Christmas party. But although Percy didn't know if Annabeth had any feelings for him, he went up to the roof again and was determined to wait for her.

"Wait for someone who doesn't know that you're waiting for her." Percy's inner voice said. "Shut up." He muttered.

"I'm sorry. What?" Someone asked. And then he looked up and it was her.

"Annabeth." He smiled. "Uhm, I have something to ask you. But you can be honest. Do you remember me?"

When Annabeth didn't answer directly Percy felt devastated. "Guess I was just a shoulder to cry on."

Annabeth scoffed and walked over to me. "Of course Percy. I don't kiss just anyone."

After that Annabeth explained last Christmas from her point of view. "I thought that you didn't want it or kissed back because of pity. So I left you. I er, I'm sorry for that. But actually I liked you before that. I hadn't really spoken to you, but you looked really nice and handsome. And well... I don't know." Annabeth laughed nervously and looked at Percy.

"I'm sorry I didn't really say anything about it for a whole year. But you said that it was a mistake and I thought that you'd already forgotten about it, or was trying to. But I really like you too." "Hopelessly in love, you mean." Percy thought that that wasn't the smartest thing to say to someone who he didn't want to scare off.

"I really like you too." Annabeth smiled at him.

"Well, Annabeth Chase. Would you like to go on a date with me?" Percy asked her although deep down he knew the answer.

"Of course." And they kissed again. And it was pretty much the best rooftop kiss ever.

So, that's my Christmas One Shot. I don't really like it, but I don't hate it either. It's really short, but yeah. Merry Christmas everyone!!
