Days of Summer
Days Of Summer
---
"I love you." He whispered, softly kissing her. When he pulled away she blushed and looked down.
"I love you too and I don't want to see you go."
"Hey, we always knew that it was going to end like this." Percy tried to cheer her up, though it did not seem to work.
They had agreed when they started dating that they would break up when he would leave. Long distance wouldn't work anyways. She lived in Greece and he in the U.S. things would get too difficult.
So the rules were clear; just enjoy it while it lasts and break up the day before he leaves.
But this was all ahead of time, first let's go back to the beginning. To the first days of summer.
---------------
"Dad! Shouted Percy across the airport spotting his father and spedding over to him. It had been 3 years since he had last seen him and he was thrilled to see his father again and spend the whole summer at his father's place in Greece.
"Percy! I've missed you!" He hugged him tightly and they got to the car catching up with each other.
"So made any plans this summer?" His father asked riding to the house.
"Well no, why? Trying to get rid of me already?" He joked, looking forward to the road already seeing the sea.
"No, but you're 17, almost 18 so I thought that you wouldn't want to hang out with me the whole summer. Plus I have to work at the rescue shelter, you can always help- you know that. But don't you want to make some friends here, hang out with some people your own age. Maybe meet a pretty girl?" His father teased, giving him a wink.
"Yeah right." Percy snorted. "I'm done with girls. They're just mean."
"Oh, not too much luck with love?"
Percy grew a very deep shade of red, but told his father anyway. "Well I dated two girls at school. Calypso, she was nice but it just didn't work out. And she was really into gardening- which is weird I think since it's New York. But balconies. And Rachel we broke up around winter break. She just broke up with me, I still don't really know why."
His father only laughed. "You're still young. And here it's all more chill for you, you're most likely not going to see these girls for at least a year."
"Did you just say that I can sleep around and date whoever I want because I'm not going to see anyone here in a long time? Because dad, that is how I was born."
"Oh shut up." His father responded, lightly pushing him.
---------------
"I'm going to the beach!" Percy shouted as he stood at the door, he had been here for hours now and wanted to go to the beach since the moment they got here. But first dinner and catching up with his family here, but now he could finally go.
When his stepmother shouted back that it was okay and that he could go he immediately went. He and his stepmother mostly ignored each other, she not really liking him and he not liking her in return. She always had to make some snarky remark about his mother and he had to defend her. Or his stepmother would compare him to her own sons. Talking about how great Triton and Tyson were doing. Especially Triton.
But now they were at the phase where they mostly just talked to each other in very short sentences and tried not to talk too much to each other. Though he thought that it would last for about a week.
His halfbrother Triton wasn't exactly a nice guy either, maybe it was because he took a lot after his mother, but he and Percy didn't get along either. He was also 4 years older so that didn't really help either. And the fact that Triton was a huge dick.
His other halfbrother Tyson was a really nice guy though. He was 4 years younger than Percy and always loved when Percy came over. So he was probably going to spend most time with him and at his dad's work.
He didn't even realise it but he was at the beach. It was mid June so the water was warm enough, even if it wasn't he was going to go in either way.
He began to swim, it always calmed his nerves and was almost therapeutic. He could just forget all the stuff that was going on in his life for a moment.
After a while he walked up to the shore again and sat down on the sand, not really wanting to go home yet. It was late but not really really late so it wasn't like they would worry about him. The sun was already setting and still he couldn't get the motivation to leave and slenter back to the house.
But the peace around him and nice atmosphere was interrupted when people standing very close to him started arguing.
He couldn't exactly follow the conversation, since it was in Greek and he could only understand it when it was a bit slower and not far away. But he could make out parts like; "Fuck off!" "Stay away!" "Go fuck yourself!" And more other words from a voice he guessed was a girl.
Wow she sounded like a badass.
The other voice was probably from a guy. And he decided that he should probably just let them. Hopefully they would stop and leave.
The arguing went on for a while and Percy was seriously considering leaving and getting back to his house, since people probably weren't arguing there and maybe he could chill a bit with Tyson or something.
Yet that changed when a high pitched yelp was heard and Percy turned around to see a guy grabbing a girl by her throat.
He sprang up and ran up to them. They weren't standing too far away.
"Hey! Hey! Let her go! You're hurting her!" He shouted.
The girl was thrashing around and tried to kick the guy and succeeded a few times, but the guy wouldn't budge. The guy ignored Percy and at that moment the only logical thing- wasn't so logical when he thought about it later - was jumping on the guy and pushing him to the ground so that he would let go of the girl.
The girl fell as well, but she fell backwards so she was a few feet away from them.
"Mind your own business." The guy growled in Greek as Percy held him to the ground. Thinking it was better if he would let the guy calm down first.
"A bit hard when you're fucking chocking a girl." Percy responded, which the guy didn't respond to too well as he suddenly turned him and Percy so that he was holding Percy down now and punched him really hard on his jaw. At least he didn't hear a crunch. The girl was shouting behind them that they should stop, but they both didn't listen. Especially the guy as he punched him on the nose and Percy could feel the blood streaming down.
"If you ever meddle with me, I'll kill you." The guy hissed in Greek and stood up.
Percy stood up as well. "Well, I'll kill you if you ever harass a girl again." The guy turned around at this and pushed him rather harshly, but Percy kept standing and pushed him back.
His father would kill him if he knew that he was getting in a fight.
The guy sucker punched him, which was a rather cowardly move. The guy groaned in pain and fell to the ground with Percy. The guy began to punch him and Percy couldn't help but fight back to defend himself. For every hit he got at the guy, the guy also got a hit at him.
"Let him go!" The girl screamed and tried to pull the guy off of him, but the guy was too busy with Percy. Percy looked up at the girl, but couldn't see her very well since it was dark and his eyes were bruised. He shook his head, hoping to convince her. He needed some space and didn't want to hurt the girl.
Percy couldn't see if the girl took a step back, so he just hoped she did and Percy used all his strength to turn them around.
He got the upperhand and held the guy to the ground and punched him one last time really hard on the jaw hearing a crack.
"Just leave now. And don't let me see you again." Percy hissed and the guy scoffed, but pushed Percy off of him and stood up and walked away.
Percy then turned to the girl, he still couldn't see her very well. He could only make out a figure and hear her voice.
"You're okay?" The girl said in English and kneeled down next to him.
"Oh, you speak English." He remarked. "And I'm fine. Kind of. I can't really see."
"I'm so sorry. You should probably look at that. I can clean you up at my house if you want."
"Uh, yes I would appreciate that."
He could see a hand and he grabbed it, so he was helped up.
They began walking down the beach and to the girl's house. He had a slight limp, but could luckily walk on his own.
"So what's your name?" Percy asked after a while, interrupting the silence.
"Oh, I'm Annabeth Chase. You?"
"Percy Jackson. So who was that guy?"
"Oh my ex boyfriend, he came to this house party that I was throwing. He asked if we could talk and we began walking for some privacy. He's a jerk. We broke up four months ago for good reasons. I hope he stays away now."
"So you live here? Your English is so good."
She let out a little laugh and though Percy still couldn't see her it warmed his heart. "Thanks and yes, I live here. But my dad is American and I lived with him the first seven years of my life. You're American too, right? And if I would have to guess," She paused for a moment. "Can you say water?"
"Water?"
"New York. You're from New York." She concluded, making Percy laugh.
"Yeah. My dad lives here, I'm visiting him for the summer." He told her.
"Great, did your parents divorce a long time ago?"
"Uhm, they were never married, he was kind of on a break with his wife and went to Montauk for a time, there he met my mother who was on vacation and they dated for around four months and eventually he knocked my mom up. But his wife wanted to try it again and he went back to his wife and son."
"Jerk." She muttered. "Oh God, I'm so sorry. That's your father." She apologized, though Percy only chuckled.
"Nah, it's okay. Kind of have to agree with you. You're a jerk when you leave when you get a girl of 18 pregnant. I only saw him again when I was 12 and I was really mad at him the whole first time he was there. But eventually we made up. Family is important and it made my mom happy that we got along." He tried to reassure her, not wanting things to turn awkward.
And Percy didn't feel awkward talking to her about this. Normally he didn't like talking about his parents, but it felt all really relaxed with her.
"My parents divorced when I was two. So I don't even know the time that they were together then he married another woman and they had twins when I was 5. Two years later I moved here with my mom and only visited my dad a few times."
He nodded in response, though she probably couldn't see him. They fell into a comfortable silence, until they arrived at the house. Music was playing, but Percy still couldn't really see.
When they walked into the house a girl ran up to them. "Oh my God, what happened!"
Annabeth explained the situation before leading him to the kitchen.
"Sorry for ruining your party." He apologised. She had grabbed a first aid kit and began to clean him up.
"What? No! You didn't ruin the party. I actually like it more hanging out with you here than thinking about the mess that my house is tomorrow."
"This is going to sting okay?" Annabeth warned him. She touched his cheek and cleaned his face. Wiping the blood away.
"Wow." He muttered as he could see much better now and saw her for the first time. Like really saw her. Beautiful blonde curls and sparkling grey eyes.
"What?" She laughed, looking down a bit.
"Uh, nothing, you're pretty." Beautiful actually.
"Oh thanks. You have nice eyes, I like the color." She remarked. Percy got really red and laughed it off.
"Okay, so this is maybe a bit awkward. Can you take off your shirt? I need to check for anything there."
He nodded, his face more red than ever. Which was quite an achievement for him.
"So are you okay, overall?" She asked as he put his shirt back on.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
"Thank you so much." She told him and pulled him into a hug. He hugged her back awkwardly.
"Well thank you for the big hug and cleaning me up."
"Yeah, well a hug is always the right size."
He cocked his head a bit to the side, breaking out in a laugh. "Did you just quote Winnie the Pooh?"
She shrugged and smiled. "What can I say? Winnie the Pooh rocks." She jumped on the counter.
"So are you home alone a lot?"
"Yeah, life when your mother is a successful business woman." She shrugged. "But it's okay, I like being alone and it's not like my mother and I are the best of mother and daughter. Okay, this is depressing. Just ask questions, I'll start. How old are you?"
"I'm 17, 18 in August. You?" He sat down next to her, tired of standing.
"Same, 18 in July. Do you like to read?"
"No, dyslexic. What do you want to study?"
"Architecture. You?"
"Still doubting, but I think marine biology. Don't know what else anyways. What is your favorite food?"
"I guess olive pizza? Yeah, definitely olive pizza." She nodded in satisfaction.
"That's so gross! Olives? On a pizza?" She laughed loudly, shoving him softly. "What about you, then?"
"My mom's blue cookies. Okay another question, favorite color?"
"Grey I think. You?"
"Blue."
"Are you single?" She asked, looking down at her lap. "I am by the way."
"Yeah." Percy had a slight blush on his face. "Favorite song?"
"Chasing Cars, by Snow Patrol. You?"
"Stairway to Heaven or It's my Life I think."
They asked questions back and forth, just getting to know each other. Until he looked up at the clock and almost fell off the counter.
"Shit!" He jumped off the counter. "Shit, shit, shit. I didn't know it was this late." He muttered, looking up at a distraught Annabeth.
"I'm sorry I didn't know it was this late and I promised my dad and stepmom that I would be home by at least midnight and I'm two hours over time."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'll walk you out. Hope this doesn't get you in trouble."
"Nah, it's fine. They're probably already asleep."
Everybody had left by now. They both stood at the porch Annabeth leaning a bit at the door.
To be honest Percy had only known Annabeth for one night and was already really starting to like her. So he figured that it's now or never. "Maybe we can meet up again? Well this wasn't really meeting up, but I think that you're cool and nice so maybe we can hang out. It's not like I have anything else to do anyway- yeah hanging out with my dad. But he wanted to get rid of me, you know what he said during the car ride here? Doesn't matter. Oh, maybe you're busy. Are you busy? Or do you don't want to meet up? Because that is okay. I'm cool with that. Well not really cool with it. But- oh God I'm talking way too much! By the way, it's just as friends. Did I say that already? I don't know. I-"
He was interrupted as Annabeth softly kissed him, but before he could do anything she already pulled away.
"I would love to see you again. Meet me here tomorrow?"
He nodded, in complete shock.
She bit back a laugh and turned around back in her house, while he walked back home, the biggest grin on his face.
Yeah at that moment in time he didn't know that his father and stepmother were waiting on the couch for him, giving them something close to a heart attack as he walked in with a slight limp and two black eyes, but he didn't care. Because he had met a great girl and she wanted to see him again.
--------------------
"Okay, I can do this. Yeah. I can." Percy muttered to himself. He sat down at the table, burying his face in his hands. "No I can't."
It had been two weeks ago since he had met Annabeth and they had hung out together everyday since. And it's an understatement to say that he had a crush on her. More a massive crush and the fact that he was in love with her and never wanted to leave.
His father chuckled, focusing on some paperwork in the kitchen.
"Just tell her, she probably likes you too. And if not, it's not like you're going to see her again in a long time." His dad advised.
"Probably? You know, mom's better at this. And are you trying to dump me again? Since you keep nagging on the fact that I'm not going to be here again or in a long time."
His father laughed, looking up from his papers and facing his son. "Percy, you're always welcome to stay here. But I didn't assume that you were going to live with us for your last year of school or something. And it's not like you're here every vacation."
"Yeah, yeah I got it. It's just- well I don't know what it's like. Do you, do you really think that I should tell her?"
"Yes. You've got nothing to lose."
"Well my dignity."
His father rolled his eyes. "Haha, you're funny." His father remarked sarcastically.
He wanted to retord, but someone knocked on the door. He stood up to open it and was pleasantly surprised that it was Annabeth.
"Hi, Annabeth." He said her name louder to let his father know it was Annabeth.
"Hey, do you want to hang out? I'm bored."
"Yeah, sure, do you want to go up to my room?" He asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
She nodded and walked in.
"Dad, we're going upstairs." He let his father know as they passed him by, stopping at the kitchen to grab some drinks.
"Keep the door open!" His father called after them as they walked up the stairs. Percy turned around as his father gave him a wink.
"Haha you're funny." He repeated, running up the stairs after Annabeth who was already in his room.
"Closing the door!" He shouted and closed the door.
He turned around to see Annabeth looking around at his room.
"You know it's not the first time that you're in here." He told her.
"You know you could've cleaned." She answered back by throwing one of his shorts at him, hitting him on the head.
He flushed red and grabbed all the clothes, throwing them inside Triton's room. He would get them back later, hopefully before his brother was in there.
"So, fixed." He plopped down next to her on the bed. They talked for a while, Annabeth ranting about this book that she read or some architecture. Percy told her about the sea animals that he helped to take care of with his father yesterday.
While he was talking the other side of his mind was running a hundred miles per hour, he was going over if he was going to tell her.
"What did you first think of me?" Annabeth suddenly asked him, pulling him out of his thoughts and focusing one hundred percent on her.
"Uh, well I couldn't really see you at first. And at the very very first you were screaming very rapidly in Greek, I only thought 'Wow, she must be a badass'. And then that you were kind since you helped me. And when you cleaned my face and I could finally really see you was and I honestly thought that you were beautiful. You know sometimes there is a moment that you say to yourself: 'Oh there you are. I've been looking for you forever.'" He had a big smile on his face when he confessed this.
"Percy-" She started, her voice soft.
"No, no, let me, uh, speak please." He turned a bit so that one of his legs was on the bed. "Okay, you know that you're small right? You're like a head shorter. And I think that that's okay, no not okay. Perfect, because sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart. And to be honest, my heart is beating really loud right now." He confessed, letting out a nervous laugh. He softly grabbed Annabeth's hand, holding it over his heart and covering it with his own.
"Annabeth, from the moment that I saw you I knew a grand adventure was going to happen. And to be honest I'm kind of in love with you. And it's okay if-"
She interrupted him by jumping on him and wrapping her arms around his neck, kissing him. This time he could kiss her back and he put his arms around her waist.
He didn't exactly know how, but eventually she was sitting on his lap and they were making out.
"God, if dad comes in right now." He thought in his head, but shook it off, focusing on Annabeth instead.
Annabeth pulled away a bit, looking at him dead serious, until breaking out into a huge smile. "I'm kind of in love with you too."
He hugged her tightly and after that sprayed kisses all over her face, before kissing her again on the lips.
-----------------
Percy felt like he was in Heaven.
It had been three weeks ago since they kissed and started dating. Three weeks of her all the time. And he couldn't be happier. It had never felt so good to kiss someone or hold hands with. To just talk with all the time without having the feeling that he couldn't tell everything.
And frankly, he was in love with her. So, so much in love. But he was doubting if he should tell her. He didn't want to lie to her, but on the other side, see they had these rules. They would break up at the end of the summer, this was just going to be a summer fling. Nothing much. He was going back to New York and she was going to stay here. Annabeth, wise as ever, had reasoned that long distance wouldn't work and they could better have some fun right now.
And of course, he had agreed. Because she was right. Long distance won't work. Especially with entire different continents and an ocean between them.
And- fuck it he had always been impulsive - he was going to do it right now. They were hanging out at her house, since her mother was never home.
"Hey, Wise Girl?" He asked, stroking her knuckles, wondering how her hands could be so small and soft.
"Yeah?"
"Some people care too much." He started, knowing that she would finish the quote. See, it had been this thing that sometimes they would drop Winnie the Pooh quotes.
"I think it's called love." She finished with a big smile on her face as she took a sip of her drink.
"And I love you." He confessed, well he had already said since the first moment that he was in love with her, but still.
Her eyes nearly bulged out and she jumped up from her seat, across from him at the table and hugged him close before kissing him
"I love you too."
He grinned so wide that it wasn't really possible to kiss her, but he did it anyway. Well tried.
"I love you. I love you. I love you." He repeated in a mantra as he kissed her whole face, making her laugh out loud.
And the best was that she repeated it back and kissed him back. A warmth spreading to his body from the top of his head to his toes. Never wanting to let go of her.
And fortunately he didn't have to until the end of August.
------------------
After that things moved fast. Way too fast.
He was with his father a lot of mornings at the animal shelter, his dad even cried when Percy told him that he wanted to become a marine biologist. And all of his other free time he spended with Annabeth. It didn't matter what they did, if it was just hanging out at one of their houses and Annabeth reading or Percy showing her some music that he liked or swimming and hanging out at the beach. Or just walking through the town/city, he wasn't really sure what it qualified for. Everything was perfect with her.
And sure they fought sometimes, but the upside from knowing that they would break up at the end of the summer meant that they knew that fighting was only wasting time with each other. So they made up really quickly. Even though they were both really stubborn.
It was amazing and scary at the same time. Sometimes when he was with her he forgot how to really breathe, well he was breathing - otherwise it would be a short summer. But he didn't really realise it, it seemed like everything went on it's own. Like he went fully on the autopilot mode.
His birthday was also amazing, as his father was making a really big deal about it. Even his stepmom. And Triton. Well he had gotten a "Congrats man." But still, that was the nicest thing Triton has ever said to him. His stepmother had made a cake for him and they had sung for him. His mother had also face timed him and he knew it sounded dorky, but he was so happy to see her again.
But by far the best thing was Annabeth. Some background information; Annabeth can't and hates cooking and baking. So normally she doesn't.
But she gave him a brownie with blue frosting, it was shaped like a brick and he couldn't feel happier. Especially when she told him that she baked it together with Tyson.
She had even sung to him and kissed his cheek as he had blown out the candles. It was amazing and he couldn't have been happier.
But his birthday, as great as it was, meant that summer was almost over. Less than a month. Less than a month of Annabeth. Less than a month of just being here with her in Greece.
He didn't want to go. He didn't want to leave her.
But the rules they had set up were clear; a summer fling and breaking up the day before he left.
Yeah, that's clear. He can work with that.
Though he loved this girl.
"Rules, Percy." He thought to himself. He just needed to enjoy the time they had and not be so pessimistic about this. It was for the best. Long distance never works out.
But when he looked down at the beautiful and simply amazing girl laying in his arms he couldn't help but think, "But for every failure is a success."
———————
One week left.
It was all going too fast.
Time flies when you have fun right? Right? Maybe it was just the Gods or whatever is above having it's fun with him. Making the time go extra fast, so that he could leave her sooner.
They were walking hand in hand along the beach, just enjoying each other's company and ranting about random stuff to each other.
"Today is my new favorite day." Annabeth muttered into his shoulder, pressing a kiss to it. He grinned lightly in return and asked her why, "Because you're in it."
"You're too cute."
"Must you say, Seaweed Brain." She taunted with a playful undertone.
"Well time to change that attitude, Wiss Girl." He teased back and picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder and shrieking with delight and shock.
She pounded her fists on his back, but he didn't feel it as he ran into the water laughing so loud.
As soon as they were underwater he let her go and she wrapped her legs and arms around him like a koala under the water.
"You're crazy." She laughed, pushing his wet black hair out of his eyes. Eventually resting her hands on his cheek and jaw. He could only stare at her with adoration. How couldn't he? This was Annabeth Chase.
"Yeah but you love it." He responded, chuckling before kissing her sweetly.
——————————
One day left. One day of a day that he had dreaded mostly in his whole life.
They were going to break up tonight.
They would say their goodbyes and the next day he would leave.
Tension hung thick in the air. He could feel it and he knew she did as well.
He had stayed the night over at her place, which wasn't that rare, but that night was different. They had stayed up all night, hanging out in the kitchen, going for a walk and talking. So much talking. He could never get enough of the sound of her voice and they never got out of topics to talk about.
They were now sitting at the beach, she sitting between his legs and leaning on his chest. He played with her hair, rambling about everything and nothing. Sometimes she laughed, about a joke or something stupid he said, and sometimes the conversation turned serious. And then they fell back in a playful banner.
Suddenly Annabeth stood up, holding her hand out to pull him up and he accepted.
She ran and he followed her, letting out a laugh. Until they ended up under the docks. Their make out spot.
"Sorry but I had to kiss you." She admitted, taking a step closer to him.
"Oh?" He teased, but leaned down to kiss her anyways.
It was a sweet but passionate kiss. One that could last forever. One that he couldn't get enough from. He couldn't get enough from her.
But everything ends.
And so does this kiss and his time with her in a few hours.
He hugged her, not wanting to leave her. "I love you." He whispered, softly kissing her. When he pulled away she blushed and looked down.
"I love you too and I don't want to see you go." Annabeth responded, exactly saying his thoughts.
"Hey, we always knew that it was going to end like this." Percy tried to cheer her up, though it did not seem to work.
Tears welled up in her eyes and she looked down at the ground.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry. That was so insensitive." He apologized. Lifting her face up at her chin and wiping the tears away.
"I don't want to leave either." He admitted quietly.
"Stay." She concluded, first with hesitation in her voice. But then she said it again, with more certainty. "Stay. Stay. Stay."
And she kissed him, but this time not a sweet kiss. But a deep passionate kiss. A hard kiss. A kiss that made his lips tingle and made him feel like he was on fire.
"Okay, I'll say. My father offers it every year so I can finish senior year here."
But Annabeth didn't seem happy. She slumped down and sat down, looking straight forward. "You can't. You love New York and your mom. I can't ask you to stay here."
They were both silent for a long time, before Percy spoke up.
"We can try long distance. I'll call you every week and I can come over at Christmas."
"Long distance never works. You know that too."
He sat down next to her. Lacing his fingers through hers. "Come on, we can at least try. I love you too much to break up. And I know we made rules, but screw the rules. We can at least try it. And if it doesn't work then we can just break up with no bad feelings."
"Percy, you're just too in love to see clearly. It's not going to work." Annabeth tried to reason, but he didn't hear it.
"Well, if you don't want to stay together then just break up now!" He shouted. "Let's not waste these few hours with each other!"
"Fine with me!" Annabeth scolded and stormed off.
------------------
Percy felt terrible. Terrible wasn't even the right word. Miserable.
He was packing his stuff, since he had nothing else to do. He could only think about her and that they really broke up.
A few tears escaped, but he wiped them away as someone knocked on the door, asking to come in.
He nodded, but of course the person on the other side couldn't see him so he fastly called a 'yes'.
He was surprised to see that it was his stepmom. They had gotten better over the summer, but they still didn't really talk that much.
"Hi, I thought that I should come and check up on you. You seemed really upset when you walked in and just went straight upstairs."
"Well, thank you for noticing. But I'm okay."
"Have you been crying?" She asked, keeping her distance from him.
"We broke up." He admitted. Sitting down on the bed. "And I'm not okay."
"Percy-" She started, pity in her voice.
"I never thought that we would actually break up. We had these rules. But still I had hope. But it isn't. And I miss her already."
"Then make it up then. Try long distance or at least make it up to spend a few hours together."
He nodded and couldn't help but wanting to ask a question that he had always wanted to ask, "Why are you doing this? You hate me right?"
She was silent for a moment. Thinking for a long time before sighing deeply, "I don't hate you Percy. Not anymore. That's in the past. 19 years ago. It was just really difficult for me in the beginning. One random day my husband told me that he had another son with another woman. And the son was 8 years old. He lied to me for over 8 years. And the worst was that he wanted to leave me for her and the son. While we were married with two sons of 12 and 4 at the time."
"I- I didn't know that."
"You couldn't. But eventually he didn't leave me and Tyson and Triton for you and your mom. But it still broke my heart. And when he showed me a picture of you. So proud of you. And I didn't get why. Why couldn't he be as proud of our sons. And when you came over for the first time," She paused for a minute. "You look exactly like him. Sometimes I have to restrain myself from calling you Poseidon. But I grew to love you over time. You're a kind and loving young man. And I love you like you're one of my own. So no, I don't hate you anymore."
"My mom didn't know that he was married. He never told her."
"And I didn't know that." She admitted. She hugged him closely and he let her. "Now, go make up with your girlfriend before you have to leave. And you're on for dinner right?"
"Yeah, see you later. Thanks." He ran down the stairs and out of the door.
He ran so fast that he couldn't see anything and anyone. Everything was a blur. The only thing that he could think of was Annabeth.
He was running towards her house when he bumped into someone, scraping the ground.
"I'm so sorry! I just have to go now, I need to see someone. It's urgent." He rambled before looking up and seeing who he had bumped into. Because there was Annabeth.
"Oh, it's you."
"It's me."
"I missed you." He confessed as she pulled him up.
"We've been broken up for less than three hours, you doofus." She laughed. "But I missed you too. And I thought about it, let's make the most of the time that we have. And if we're meant to be, we will meet again."
"You're right." He mumbled kissing her in the middle of the street. Not caring about the people around them.
-----------------------
"I'm going to miss you. Promise to come back soon?" His little brother Tyson said, as Percy hugged him. His luggage standing at the door. "I promise."
"Bye Triton." He told his other brother as he bravely went in for a hug. And to his surprise, Triton hugged him back. "Bye."
"You can't skip me." His stepmom teased, engulfing him into a hug. "I'll miss you too. Thank you for letting me stay at your house this whole summer."
"Of course."
He then turned to his father, who nodded at him and picked his suitcase up carrying it to the car where Annabeth was waiting.
"You came." He smiled, hugging her.
"Of course, thanks to your father."
He turned to his dad, smiling widely and stepping into the car. On their way to the airport.
------------------------
"I guess it's time to say goodbye now." He spoke up, his hands in his pockets and standing at the gate.
"Okay, dad. First you. I'm so glad that I spent the summer with you. Spending some extra time with you was amazing. And I love you. I hope that you know that."
"I love you too, Percy." He hugged him tightly and both men let a few tears fall.
"I'll leave you two now." His father told them, walking away and giving them some distance.
"I'll go first; I love you so much, Beth. But we've always got these days of summer. To remind us of each other. And if there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, okay? I'll stay there forever."
"I will. I'll always remember you. And we'll meet again, right? We're meant to be." She kissed him softly, before pulling away. "Pinky swear?"
"Pinky swear." He muttered back, kissing her and wrapping his little finger around hers. "I love you."
"I love you too." Tears were falling down now. "But you need to go now. Because you can't miss your flight and I don't want to cry too much."
He nodded, laughing softly and kissing her one more time.
And then, though he never thought that he would, that he could. He turned around and walked away. And he shouldn't have turned around because it's cheesy. But he did anyway when he stood on the escalator.
He could still see her sparkling grey eyes and honey blonde curls, the slight smile that was gracing her features.
Until he couldn't when the escalator took him too far away. He waved one last time and turned the corner. Stepped into the airplane and looked through the window, wishing that he never left the girl that he loved.
A/N
So I'm back. Sorry for not updating in such a long time. But I'm back now and trying to update at least once in the three weeks (working on other stories as well). Thanks for reading and let me know what you thought of it if you're in the mood for it. Have a good day or night and peace out?!
